  1. Awakens is such a weird word...the title just doesn't roll off the tongue very easily. Granted, anything is better than Attack of the Clones :p

The better title would have honestly been The Force Unleashed, or something similar, but that pesky EU got there first ;)

Assuming the Empire is defeated in this movie I would've preferred to see something like: Star Wars Episode VII: The New Republic or The Force Reborn

  2. Did my Assassin 1-55 this weekend. Took me a little over 14 hours. Stealth had a huge roll in that since I was able to stealth by almost all trash in class missions. I skipped all dialogue and knew generally where I was going because of my Sorc. Gear came completely from class quest rewards. As long as you're careful, you really don't need to buy any supplementary gear along the way. Use a healing companion ASAP - this will make the biggest difference if your gear is trashy. The complimentary/freebie XP buff you get from the class mission will sustain you the entire way if you're quick. I never had to buy any from the Cartel shop.

The funniest part was Makeb. Took me 1 hour to go 47-55. That bolster buff is ridiculously op.

  3. Hey!

I believe you turned it over to Teraka, that ring a bell? I joined in late 2003, must have been right after you left. Several members are still around from those days, although not all of them play swtor right now. We had mumble if you'd like to come in and say hi!

For sure! I'll send ya a pm.

  4. Wow!

I just saw this post and man I got chills. I don't know if anyone in DFR remembers me, but I was actually the GM/Founder of the guild way back in the day on SWG :) I remember I started the guild in June/July of 2003 with a couple of guys and I named it DFR after the Timothy Zahn "Dark Force Rising" novel. I only played SWG for about 6 months until real life intervened (started Junior year of High School...met a girl :p) and I passed leadership off.

I have a hard time remembering the names of the officers that I passed the guild off to, because it's been about 10 years and a lot of games in between, but they definitely deserve all the credit for keeping the guild going after I left. It's really a testament to them that the guild is still active and thriving today. Really exciting to see that the guild is going strong after all these years :)

    All the best,

    Cial

  5. It's not the same. OOC combat is free to use and restores your resource. A healer using his CC and healing himself doesn't regain his resource AND hp.

What's considered cheap just depends on people. Some people consider using grenades in duels cheap. Or companions and the legacy abilities.

This is why I say set rules before dueling.

    Pretty much this.

However, mmo convention would definitely label this cheesy in a dueling environment. It's an I-Win that takes advantage of a loophole in combat break. Similarly how pots and other consumables are frowned upon in duels, unless they are agreed upon before the match.

  6. Straight from the horse's mouth:

    54:50 mark.

All kinds of gems in this one. Be sure to listen to why he thinks people complain about Resolve and being stun-locked. He also admits they've been dragging their heels on Season 1 because they have been flip-flopping about what they want it to be. Don't expect Season 1 any time soon.

Pretty unbelievable how clueless they are in regards to Pvp in this game.

  7. No you're wrong. I'm still enjoying the same things about this game that I enjoyed at launch. BioWare Austin has lost 100% of its passion since the layoffs and restructuring. It shows in the quality of the marketing videos they've released, it shows in this stupid fireworks announcement, it even shows in their body language on the Q&A livestreams. The people at BioWare Austin that had passion for this game are gone, fired or fled, and what we have left are professional MMO babysitters who think typical MMO things like fireworks are "good enough".

    QFT.

    /thread

  8. meh.

What about a Double Xp week? Or a special pet, title or cosmetic item for being subbed for a year. Or even discounted subscription packages for a limited time. Just fireworks is pretty lame.

BW: The 1 year anniversary is a time to get people excited about the game, and brag about what you have accomplished over the last year. Send out a press release to the gaming media and get people to take notice; get players to subscribe by offering something I listed above.

  9. I'm really sick of hearing how "sorcs are only brought because of their bubbles" as the reasoning behind why this ridiculously broken mechanic should stay as it is. Let's see how the other classes are broken down:

Mercs: LMAO... ONLY a merc healer will be brought and that's if an Operative healer can't be found, and they better be exceptional

Sins: Tank hybrid for guarding nodes/ very rarely will you see a deception Sin b/c other AC's can DPS far better

Maras: Carnage for predation buff... backup smash if a jugg can't be found

Operatives: Heals only. DPS do not apply

PT: Pyro only, your tank spec is a joke/middle tree is not for RWZ at all

Snipers: A rarity on my server and we have a very healthy RWZ queue

Juggs: Really the ONLY class viable for both roles/ smashy smash does it better than maras/tank hybrid for carrying the ball and guarding...

Sorcs: heals, if you can't play RWZ as a sorc its because your guard sucks, not your AC. Most teams will bring an Operative healer and a sorc healer with the latter having guard on them most of the time prior to your gift of outrageous CC. Now you're brought along to bubble because if you don't have it, you're just gimping your team until BW does something about it, then it's back to full heals. Also they compliment each other b/c of your cleanses, being the ONLY AC that can cleanse force debuffs, like the perma slow from Jugg tanks which makes moving seem like you're walking through mud for an entire WZ.

Sorry to break it to you, but if you want to DPS as a sorc/sage do it in normal wz's. As you can tell in competitive RWZ the team comps are not very different and each class seems to have its role. Even if you did get a nice buff guess what? You won't be taken over a sniper b/c their burst will always be higher so you're still second best ranged DPS unless the poor mercs get a complete overhaul. The only way this is going to change is if they overhaul PvP and classes completely, which is obviously never going to happen.

Finally, someone that obviously runs rateds and knows *** he's talking about. Well said.

  10. I've been saying for a while the Cybertech grenades are op. Everyone that runs RWZs regularly knows how cheesy they are - similarly to the bubble-break stun issue we're also seeing. It gives classes that don't normally have an aoe stun/stagger access to a free ability on a 3min CD. It breaks the rock/paper/scissors balance of PVP, and they are ridiculously abused in warzones (just like Adrenals). Only a matter of time before BW removes them from warzones... probably in 1.6.
