  1. To be honest, while I appreciate the thought and time it took to post this, I completely disagree. Travel in this game is already probably easier and faster than any other MMO I've ever played.

Sure, parts of it could be faster, but it doesn't hurt my gameplay in any way whatsoever. In fact, I think travel (with the possible exception of an extra loading screen here and there) was very well-implemented, and getting from one place to another is really fast and easy, in my opinion.

lol WHAT!? Are you joking or trying to troll? Travel in this game is beyond annoying!!!!

  2. It's easy to fix yourself.

After you finish a warzone, leave the queue. Manually re-enter yourself into the queue. Your wins will now count again. Rinse and repeat.

    Fixed.

No, it's not fixed. Fix would imply that the issues causing the problem is corrected. Which it's not. What you said is a work around for some, and not even close to fix. Thanks for the input tho.

  3. Hi Raggnarok,

As is the case with any PC game of this scale, we will always have players who experience performance issues. It is impossible to have the game run optimally on 100% of machines due to various factors (lower end machines, ISPs, not meeting minimum specs, and more).

The reality is that, based on the amount of forum posts and CS ticket volume in relation to the total player base population, most people aren’t experiencing performance issues. With that being said, we’ve been keeping a very close eye on forum posts from the players experiencing these issues and we are actively working to address these concerns.

We thank you for your concerns, and please be aware that we are indeed constantly working to improve the game for everyone.

Since you are browsing this thread, I would like to know if there is any truth into the statements made by this post http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=1388245&posted=1#post1388245 2nd one down. The one where he linked about the Hero engine not being fully optimize until late 2011?

I truly understand you guys are working hard and having to deal with the pressure from your Bosses and from the community, for that I tip my hat off to you for having great patience with us.

  4. I'm surprised I found a dead link.

Here's a brief summary on what the link was.

I would like to bring these 2 links to everyones attention.

    http://www.heroengine.com/2011/11/he...eets-starwars/

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HeroEngine

The reason why is because it shows a timeline.

It states in the first link that BW bought the engine when it was still a prototype, 7 years ago.

BW was told by simutronics that it was not ready to be productized (used in a game) that it had optimization problems and security issues (just like it still does today), along with no manual/instructions to it either.

BW said, that wasn't a problem and they could figure it out.

This could be seen as a worst case scenario by engineers.

They are given a prototype that has problems and told to fix it without knowing how the engine works, was created, nor where to even start to fix the problems it does have.

To make things even more worst, BW immediatly begins post-production at this time, by hiring graphic designers, writers, etc to make a game around this unfinished engine.

After only 3 years, BW begins releasing videos and announcing progress with the game.

The reason why this is important is because it brings me to the second link, the one about the hero engine itself.

Simutronics did not have a stable version of the hero engine until sept. of 2011.

So it took the actual people who originally created the engine the entire 7 years that swtor was in production for, to make a working engine.

Meanwhile BW has already created an entire game around the unworking prototype, expecting engineers who had no idea where to even start, to fix what they could while BW piled more code ontop of it due to the game being in full production.

This is why the engine is not working properly.

I would also like to point out that at the end of the first link simutonic states that, that was the ONLY interaction they had with BW.

After they sold them the prototype, they did not help nor have any contact with BW, which shows they are trying to distance themselves with what BW did to the engine.

  5. Everyone needs to calm down a bit.

It is a variety of people with a variety of rigs that are having the problem. So it isn't just HIGH END pc's.

It is not a universal problem; which means it is even harder to pin down and address.

It is not a hero engine "bug"; partly because SWTOR is only partially built on the hero engine, most is done outside it - but due to the fact it is not a universal issue it is a performance question; which will get addressed.

For those pulling out the HERO engine is ancient tech; no - no it isn't; it has been updated and advanced all along in fact a new rev just came out in december.

Is it frustrating? Absolutely. Really though - the wild speculations, the bashing and bickering, the condeming BioWare as incompetant and not caring; well - ALL of it is ignorant.

The bottom line is; there are problems - they know it - they'll work on it; ALL MMO COMPANIES DO.

Patience is huge; and if patience is something that is lacking - that is fine; can the account and wait for them to get around to it. They will; but the hemming and hawing and mudslinging is not going to make them magically fix it. Anyone who thinks they are sitting back biding their time just ambling along are also equally ignorant and just looking for things to complain about.

Sorry about that. I just get so annoyed when ppl say oh it's you pos PC. Are you are lame with your weak PC. Why such the elite attitude? I know many ppl who have high end rigs that are having a hard time playing the game with the FPS jumping up and down. I also know a few that has a low end PC and playing just fine, no issues at all. Again it's the "elite" attitude ppl have not really knowing anything about the issues at hand.

  6. 5% of 1,000,000 = 50,000 players

50,000 x $60.00 = $3,000,000.00 money made off of players buying this game

50,000 x $15.00 x 12 = $9,000,000.00 money lost after those players get alienated from this game and told your computersuckslol.

It is amazing to me that as much as I dislike the game of WoW, Blizzard has done a lot to ensure their title plays well on older hardware. Heck, they're just now no longer supporting Windows 2000.

Be careful when you post numbers, you might hurt someones feelings here.

I say $9mill is worth a fix for these "small percent of ppl"

  7. 5% of 1 million is 50,000 people. So yeah I could see how you could lose track

I guess you also didn't read the part where he said that they have a team of people working on the problem.

As for your rig there are plenty of people who have the same specs who do not have issues. So it's hard to say exactly what the problem is. But like he said they are working on it.

did you even read the article? Or just look at it quickly.

"The thing is, for the most part, 95 per cent - oh I can't give you the exact percentage"

    James Ohlen told Eurogamer.

It's not just 5%, he doesn't know the exact number.

  8. Then if it's not your hardware, and not your zone population or your bandwidth to your ISP.

How is others are NOT seeing the issue?

Had someone in General on Balmora call if the game was laggy.

I had to respond nope, and on top of that, there is only 15 people here.

Not sure if this was a joke or for real. Did you not even look at some of the links I linked to you about ppl have FPS?

Maybe I miss read what you were trying to say. Or you saying there's really isn't a problem with FPS since the last couple of patches. If that is what you are saying I implore you to look at the customer services forms, which almost has the same about of post as General forms.

Also just look at some of the links, with over hundreds of reply's about FPS issues.

  9. I assume the only way you would get grace time is if the servers were down. Because giving people grace time for their (you, not Bioware) hardware issues isn't fair.

Wait, you are blaming my hardware even though I have above the recommended specs and I could run the game just fine untill the past week? Have you not been reading the massive threads of ppl having sudden FPS drops?

Right, my hardware is the cause for everyone having sudden FPS drops.

    Gotcha.

  10. Just a question, will BW still give me a grace period once I can play again? Week and a half ago I could play 30+FPS every where. Since some patches my FPS is at 7-12fps and warzones now are not playable at all for me 0.5FPS-7FPS down from 20-25FPS. My specs is above the recommended, seems these patches have done more bad then good.

So once this is fixed will I receive a grace period?

  11. Why are people bashing this guy just for asking a question?

I would love to see some free space travel, where I could fly my ship to other big ships and do pvp out in space as well. What's wrong with that? How cool would it be to be on your fleet and run to a turret room and blast some Republic ships trying to damage our fleet. They could do a lot with the space flying mounts, aka your ship.

I think it would beat the min game they have going on now.

  12. Just wanted you to know I agree with this post. In fact I made a similar post not knowing this post has been made.

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=1251327#post1251327

Wanted to give a big thanks to you knowing I'm not the only one that see this truth. I will quote this again.

"With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn't put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

  13. You know I didn't think of this before. Perhaps it's the players fault, let me explain.

We keep on buying products that are not done or reskin (aka mw lol) So if you were a big publisher and saw this, what would you do? Really, would you care what the gaming community says, if there money is saying something else? I doubt it, sad to say but money speaks louder then our voices.

  14. LOL I'm sorry but that statement just isn't true... not even a little bit. There are many events to get people back into an MMO. Free to Play weekend events to get peopole back; major content updates; special subscription packages. I've seen server population fluctuate SIGNIFICANTLY with these types of events in other games.

Your statement either born of ignorance in the matter or is simply a silly post just so you can jump on the hate wagon.

And to everyone who might be callin me a "Fanboi" lol. Yes I am, but that doesn't give me rose coloured goggles or anything. I realize there's still lots of work to be done on this game... it's still one of the best outta the gate.

As a business stand point that statement is true, if investors see a drop and don't see the longevity of a game they will pull out there funds. Here's a good read for you.

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=136757

ps. Yes i know, you can say the guy is fibbing are what not, but if you play with the stocks at all you will see this and understand the (possibility) this is true.

Note that I said possibility and not fact.

  15. I know I'm going to be flame for this but here it goes. What made Blizzard so successful was there saying "We Release a Game when it's ready" the result speak for themselves.

Now this statement might really hurt some people here, but why OH why can't ppl follow this same outline.

"With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn't put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

    PLEASE READ THAT STATEMENT

This boys and girls is what needs to be follow. Yes the Temptation is huge to release but why put so much work, time and passion into a game that was "almost ready"?

ps. This does not make me a fan boy, but one that respect such a ingenious plan.

  16. Yet to come across a game breaking bug.

Here is possibly game breaking bug

    http://www.freefrag.com/sw-tor/21644-swtor-emergency-patch-fix-huge-economy-exploit.html

ppl and guilds were making millions within mins for WEEKS. They were making throw away accounts to be avoided.

All because these bugs don't show themselves to you doesn't mean they are not there. I can't tell you how many times I've done FP and kill a boss and there would be no loot, or the chest could not be open. What about class quest not able to be completed. What about OP not being playable or worst being exploited?

I'm not just talking about the bugs that you can see or that effects your ui or login screen, I'm also talking about the bugs that can allow (players) to exploit the game to there advantage.

  17. Game was 100% ready for release. Player's pos computers were not ready for the game. I've had absolutely zero problems with this game since I started on the first day of EGA. Fix your computers and you would be playing fine too.

This is an MMO, Massive Mutiplayer Online. Get it, Massive. Not everyone can afford a high end computer like yourself. I can assure you that they wanted to appeal to the average house hold computer.

  18. Let's not pretend like we know the details on what happens behind closed doors. Also keep in mind it's really difficult to implement any MMO bug free, and with all the features you hoped to have during the development process. I neither blame them or excuse them for bugs and non-features in the game... I'd just like them fixed, that's all.

Bugs are expected sure, but the major bugs which could have major consequences should try to be fixed before release.

I have a question an honest one. Is it wrong for me as a paying customer that I want to be able to enjoy a product I paid for? It's like this, what if you paid for a brand new car, would you expect it to be fully functional and driveable? I suspect that anything you paid for that didn't work you would turn it back or ask them to fix it within a reasonable time frame.

I really like this game, and I could play with little problems. But within the last week I went from 30-40FPS down to 7-13FPS and in warzone it's down to 0.5-7fps when it use to be 20-25FPS.
