  1. And thats all fine, but as I said after experiencing it as it was, anything less will just be a grind for me. As I said this is just my experience, and admittedly I'm pretty picky about what game I sub to and it only takes one big thing like this to turn me off. Think flying in WOW. That was my goodbye moment for WOW and this comp issue is my goodbye moment for SWTOR. After experiencing how fun 4 was this nerf and mini buff has just taken all the joy out of the game for me. Simple as that.

Might I ask just what MMO that is in this "less grindy" state that will get your sub...I cant think of any.

  2. Fall 2016 EA will announce server closure ... unless 4.0.2 is immediately addressed

    history repeats itself ad infinitum

COME ON... I mean REALLY. EA hasn't even closed Ultima Online yet....and just how many subs do you think that it has? Do you honestly think they are going to close a high property IP like SWTOR, especially since they have already paid for it? Lets try to be realistic here.

  3. Most are upset because the change wasn't a rebalancing, it was a nerf sledgehammer. It needed balanced, absolutely.

    60% nerf? Nope.

If they find it was too much they can just balance it the other way until they feel its right. It doesn't have to be a permenate thing. It can be a give and take until they get it right.

  4. Really why are you guys upset? Is there another magical MMO out there with God mode that I don't know about? WoW...Nope, Age of Conan...nope, Star Trek Online....nope, The Secret World...nope, Path of Exile....nope, Elder Scrolls Online.....nope, Heck, not even Wizard 101!!!! In Ultima Online, not only could you die...but the monsters that killed you actually looted your body. People saying they are quitting over the companion nerf (that I think was actually deserved)....just exactly where are you going to quit to....candy crush saga, or my little pony land, because it isn't going to be an MMO.

Maybe i'm just clueless but I can't for the life of me think of any other mmo where it is as easy as these guys wanted it to be.

  5. Except for the fact that 4.0 was supposed to make the game more like KOTOR. If you didn't know, KOTOR...is...SINGLE PLAYER.

lol...no one ever said that. That's only what some players got construed in their heads. What they said was, more focus on story...that does not equate to single player experience.

  6. I realize you were trying to be sarcastic, but they already did this. All instanced PvE up to HM operations have bolster and can be completed by anyone level 50 or higher regardless of gear.

Does knowing fights matter or are they all tank and spank? If you haven't watched hours of you tube videos for boss fights are you going to fail and cause wipe after wipe? Are you going to be booted from the group for not knowing your stuff? What about all the link achievements, be geared, be leet or **** post from those putting together a group? I never cared much for PvE content because raiders are ten times more elitist than pvpers, but still wanted to experience the story.

  7. actually getting base Wz gear would be easy if they added a starters pvp gear reward to the intro to warzones mission.

Actually at one time they did just that, but people took the tokens and sold it for like 300k credits then still complained that they had no gear...that's if I'm remembering this right, has been years ago.

  8. There should be NO PROGRESSION in PVP IMO, other than rank. PVP should have very small boosts that you earn with rank, and you lose with death. The vast majority of rewards should either be useful in the rest of the game or visual IMO.

That means, IMO, gear should make no difference. Everyone should have the same stats across the board.

The reward from PVP should be the destruction of your enemies.

The reward from PvE should be beating the big bad robot and saving the galaxy. Fair enough?

  9. No...because I want something to work for in PvP, and gear is one of those things.

but suppose that I said Yes.

I would also like to be able to do raids with a pug in lfg, without watching hours of you tube videos on how to defeat a boss, what needs to be done during a boss encounter etc. and also have a reasonable chance of not dying when not knowing said encounter, regardless of role tank, dps, or healer.

There has to be a carrot on a stick or no one will do it. and for pvp it is gear, just like raiding. If someone just wanted to see the story they would do it once and be over with it, but its week after week after week to get the gear you want. It'd already bad enough that the cost of pvp gear is so ridiculously low right now its almost unbelievable.

  10. Thanks for supporting my point. Most PvPers (not all, I assume not you) are about kills, not about a competitive match. Wiping the floor with a poorly geared PvEer is music to the ears of the average PvPer.

Then why the reference to "208 blues?" The only 208 blues I know of are the crafted "solid piece" 208s, which take 6 Exotic Isotope Stabilizers to make, and which have one purpose as far as I can tell: to be RE'd to be able to make a 216 MH.

    Please explain.

If a PvPer is only interested in how much damage he does or how many kills he gets, then they are commonly refered to as a "Bad" or a "*******". They are not focusing on objectives such as caping a door, guarding a pylon, etc, and if given the choice between a clear voidstar door plant or chasing someone down to finish them off, they would do the later to boost their death kill, which true pvpers don't care about anyway.

  11. waste of a post. completely worthless. no offense to the OP.

We don't WANT to PvP AT ALL. Do you think those of us against forcing those of us that like only PvE to PvP is going to make us CARE about PvP more?

No it's not. It's only going to make (most of) us hate it more.

Sorry but I don't care about your "tips" I just want to get in, get out, and get the required pvp I'm FORCED to do out of the way for my PVE companion(s)....I'll stick to running around or hiding behind things doing nothing thanks anyway.

Want to get mad about it? Get mad at BioWare for FORCING PvE'ers to PvP for a PVE companion.

And I wonder how many of you telling us PvE'ers to stop crying about it would feel if BioWare all of a sudden FORCED you to raid to get PvP gear.

that depends.....can I AFK in said raid to get said gear?

  12. As someone who is vehemently opposed to ever doing PvP because I've always despised the terrible underbelly of really awful (i.e. despicable and mean) PvP players I've almost exclusively always been exposed to, I have to say I really appreciate this post. It leads me to believe that there actually are PvP players out there who aren't complete jerks. That said, I actually suffered through getting valor 40 out of the way years ago and didn't have to worry about this for the certain companion who requires PvP, though when I didn't realize it right away I was pretty peeved when I saw it.

I salute you for not simply making this a rage post about how angry you are that us non-PvPers are invading your PvP space. I've spent a long time away from the game because I simply ran out of enjoyable things to do, and if there are more tolerant, helpful people such as yourself out there playing PvP I might actually consider getting into it.

It's not that PvPers hate Non-PvPers, its that we hate the them people that actually do what the one poster suggested, go there and just sit/afk. I'm sure raiders would be all kind of pissed to if some one went there and afk to a win/lose and still reaped the rewards.

  13. Now now, all the "WHERES MY NICO!?!?!?!1111111!!!" Threads over the past 4 months should show you how little SWTOR players actually read/comprehend things like that :D

They could make it a flashing neon picture on the launcher thats accompanied by the Submarine dive claxon, and a pop up window for every character login and derps would still start clammoring in November... :p

Truth...pages upon pages of the Nico Stuff, and that info was actually posted everywhere. When no new chapters come in Nov. I'm taking bets that there will still be at least 1 huge thread on the main general page come Christmas day. Ready the popcorn folks.

  14. Well said, people whine a lot. It doesn't matter how much content they made, folks would burn through it and complain the devs didn't do enough. It's much easier to play content than it is to make it........

To the OP, you seem concerned about "wasting" $15/month. Umm....I bet if you look at other things you spend $15 on you don't get nearly the fun you can out of a month of SWTOR. Movie - 2 hours, G&T made with good Gin, about the same......if $15/month is really that much of a burden perhaps playing video games really shouldn't be a priority. There's more to the game than PVE storyline as well I might point out. Anyhoo........

I think money these days mean a little more than you give it credit for or your out of touch with things, one of the two. No body...and I mean nobody that I know, whether they be working adults, college kids, friends, family...no one, spends 15.00 to go to a movie anymore and get an 8.00 popcorn, 4.00 coke. They get a 99 cent 2 liter, a bag of microwave popcorn, and hit up the red box. Even the Really good jobs here...the ones that people want and hope to get, are the 15.00/hour jobs. Are you really going to work 1.5-2 hours after taxes to get that one over priced G&T?

On the other hand you might say, 15.00 for a whole months worth of entertainment is great, and it probably is if your a true NOOB that has never ever set foot in the game world before, but this game is going on 4 years old...just like WoW, the people that are going to play it probably already have, and even the ones that haven't will eventually get to the point where the only thing they have not done is the single hour of new episodic content they can look forward to each month, BW is taking a terribly awful risk that people are going to continue ponying up 15.00 for that hour each and every month.

  15. The monthly release structure is the best case scenario. The current content we have, and the content we're getting on a monthly basis is literally coming as quickly as Bioware can possibly time it.

I am not trying to be rude here, but people need to realize that the developers can't just snap their fingers and magically generate 100 hours of new content with full voice acting, storyline, and cinematics. It takes a lot of time, effort, and money. The developers are releasing content as quickly as they possibly can. The current expansion already features more content + game changes than either of the two previous expanions...and we've been promised monthly releases of new chapters. Why can't people be grateful for that?

Again not trying to be rude, but the whole "KOTFE doesn't have enough content" argument is getting really old. Bioware doesn't have a magic genie that will instantly produce content that will satisfy anyone and everyone that plays this game. :)

The Difference is this game is 15.00, other games that have monthly episodic content such as TSW is 5.00 last time I checked. So unless Swtor wants to either pony up on ALOT more subscriber perks (which is basically none, if you have bought all your unlocks off the gtn already), or go the standard of other episodic games of 5 bucks. Its can't be both ways, if the game wants to survive.

  16. Who actually believes they want to give us better quality or value for the packs.

Its more like they are testing the waters to see how much blood they can get out of the stone. Less production costs/ less value per pack for same price and if the sales work out this is probably what we will be stuck with.

QFT. This guy knows whats going on. Testing the waters and seeing what the market will bear.

  17. "hardcore" died in WoW vanilla when Blizzard figured out that their "EQ like endgame raiding" was done by <5% of playerbase.

WoW vanilla grew because accessibility/soloability that WoW brought to the table, not because of those <5%. If whole WoW has been made like that endgame...well...it would probably be where EQ ended up after 2004.

your joking right, I played WoW from vanilla till after the panda expansion came out, literally years. WoW is the furthest thing from a casual game that could ever exist, was literally a job...even if you don't raid. There were a million things you have to do along with a million dailies you had to do upon longing in every day if you wanted to stay competitive. If you even wanted to try group content such as raids, you better spend hours watching you tube videos knowing fights, link gearscore, achievement and item level with raid leader gear checks. Heck to even do an instance (flashpoint) you had better have watched you tube videos, know your role, what to do, where to do it, and when to do it, or cause a wipe and get booted from group.

In comparison swtor now plays itself almost, it was pretty easy before, but now its ridiculously easy.

There is a middle ground between the two extremes some where, and that is where the fun lies.

  18. So, you want them to punish these people and get them to cancel subs and quit playing? Yeah, great plan.

dumbing the game down enough for window lickers is a better plan :p Seriously if they are going to have to cater to the people that would use to put strength gear on their inquisitor, level 60 tanks that didn't know what guard was, or dps that insisted they were only going to use saber strike only because they wanted to....the whole thing is already shot.

  19. I know I am going to get flamed for this but I'm going to say it anyway. Companions need to be nerfed. I can't speak for the tank or dps companion stances, so maybe someone else could chime in here on those points, but I have been using vette as a healer on my rage spec juggernaught ( level 57) wearing level 44 gear fighting around level 60 enemies and at no point do I lose health...let alone have any fear of ever dying or having to use heroic moment etc. I don't even have to use a medpack!!! The game is now flybu easy mode, and not challenging at the least.

I'm not sure if the companions have been over boosted so they could be tuned down later or what, but now I truly feel like I am Vettes companion instead of the other way around, her being more powerful than me. Something just not right about that.
