  1. Well, Scoundrels and Operatives hit for less than that with a from-stealth position requirement opener and BioWare broke their PvE and PvP DPS to satisfy the raging sorc community. If that was OP, this is hilariously OP.

    If i'm not mistaken, the gear level back then was a LITTLE different, as were health pools. If i don't remember wrong there were screenshots of 5 digit crits from scoundrels and operatives near release. And that was damage you couldn't even avoid. Now i don't of course know the exact patch and date when the nerf hit, as i've only played at release and since Dec.

    Here, random google got me this:

    Look at those crits back at january, then think at what kind of health pools people had when battlemaster's gear was the best possible. Yeah that is why scoundrel's and operatives got their nerfs.

    Ps. I don't know about patches between Feb. and Dec. so all that i posted might be false and irrelevant to my quote.

  2. I would like to disagree, most of the damage inflicted on a tank should be via guard, meaning it bypasses your defenses anyway.

    Is this actually the case? Now last time i played a tank in PvP was more near release, but back then i for sure noticed that when my guarded target would take 1000 dmg hit (say a sage) i would take way less than that. Either because of more mitigation from armor or the passive dmg reduction from tanking 'stance'. I still don't know which.

    Now this might have changed somewhere between release and today and not be the case anymore.

    Just wondering, in any case.

  3. All the classes are mirrored on the other faction. Only difference being the ability icons, animations and names. While the ability's still do the same thing.

    Shadow = Assassin

    Sage = Sorcerer

    Vanguard = Powertech

    Commando = Mercenary

    Scoundrel = Operative

    Gunslinger = Sniper

    Guardian = Juggernaut

    Sentinel = Marauder

    Oh and of course the story and companions are different as well :)

  4. Same model, yes. But i'm quite sure it was just orange and white. I might remember wrong. But if that armor got legacy icon on it, then it could have been that.

    Too bad i didn't pay attention to the name, nor does that name ring any bells either.

    edit:

    I guess you cannot get that armor anymore?

  5. Few days a go i saw someone on the fleet, the armor looked like columni chest (i think). But when i inspected him, it was orange armor that had the legacy shield icon too.

    Found this screenshot in the 'Show your trooper' thread: http://i.imgur.com/tgEH2.jpg i think that was the look.

    Now it could have been a glitch / bug with inspect, but i'm quite sure it was orange and even had legacy icon on it.

  6. I landed a level down with 1k health (the endurance made the difference)

    I'm not 100% sure of the game mechanics in SWTOR when it comes to falling. But in many games falling damage is percentage based. For example fall X distance and get damaged for 50% of your health.

    Now if that is the case with SWTOR too, your endurance did not help as much as you think it did.

    (or i might have misunderstood and you were not talking about falling / falling damage)

  7. Only reason why i'm not currently playing GW2 is, because there are no healers.

    I've played a healer in MMORPG's since 2005. I even do in some FPS games like Battlefield (medic). I tried, but i get bored of the gameplay in under 1 hour, because healing is the thing i find fun.

    :)

  8. Let them have all the MVPs.. Capt. Cavesmash doesn't get 700k dmg. without my 500k heals. I know it, you know it, and that's all that matters.

    Yeah i agree, and kind of know that as well.

    But i don't know why, but i just find it a little saddening or something.

    Maybe i have to learn to see it as a something else. A mini game of "try to find someone who everyone did not vote for". Or something.

    :)

  9. No you wouldn't. If you begin pvp at level 10 and hit level 50 with 50 valor you would be in a 50 valor tier with whatever gear your accumulated coms buy you. Somone who hit level 50 without pvping would begin at valor 1 in a lowby tier with recruit gear, get it yet?

    If only there wasn't a cap of 2750 WZ commendations.... Yeah i can have a valor rank of 50 by the time i ding 50, but my gear wont be any better than someone else's who did just enough for the cap (wild guess of maybe 20 valor rank). Those 3-4 War Hero items wont change much when comparing to someone who did no PvP and got 'only' recruits gear.

  10. Now don't get me wrong, this by no means tries to be "ego" post. Nor am i trying to say that healing role is more important than the others. But this sorta annoys me a lot. I'm not the best healer out there, but i would like to think myself as a average at least.

    This is all experience between my 47 commando and 38 sorc healers.

    550k healing done, very few deaths in my team (1 or 2 people died near me, some more deaths in other areas of the map where i was not at). We won. MVP votes went to the top dmg done player, that surprise surprise, did not die because someone kept him/her alive...

    480k healing done. This time there was another healer, who did about 160k healing and 100k dmg. We both were covering the same area / people with our heals. People were praising that other healer for the healing done and how awesome job he did keeping people alive. Well, i did not feel like bragging or even mentioning that i was healing as well. Because i did trust that people look at the scoreboard before giving MVP's. Well, we lost. The other healer got 5 MVP's. The other healer MVP'ed me, i think.

    400k healing done. I was the only one interrupting / cc'ing the enemy healers. But as people were killing stuff way too slow, we lost.

    Those and many (10+) other battles as healer, have netted me maybe 5 MVP votes. Generally my healing done is 250k-500k based on how much the enemy ignores me.

    Now, as i got simply very few MVP votes, i decided that screw it. I'm going damage:

    First game: 390k damage done; i went zerg mode, ignored all the objectives and went for as much damage as possible. If i saw red names, i ran to that direction for more dmg done. We won and i got 7 MVP's.

    Second game: 200k damage done; i did focus more on objectives, but still i don't think i contributed much to the game (steam downloading in the background, so had lag problems and stuff...). Just like i think i didn't in the first one. It was a close 1-0 loss huttball game, but i got 4 MVP's

    2 games as a dps, and i got twice the MVP's i did as a healer in many many more games... I don't know, maybe i'm taking it little too personally. They are just MVP votes and mean very little. But still, i find it annoying how people give them out and how healers get very little MVP's. Or i could have been just "unlucky" with the people i got in those battles. I don't know. But all of this makes me feel like people just don't like or appreciate us healers :(

    Ps. My MVP votes go always to the healers, just because of how few people give us the MVP's.

  11. Only a shy 6 days on my commando (created at release) and 3 days on my sorc (created like 2 weeks a go). Also have many deleted characters that i can't tell (43 vanguard, 26 sniper, 24 Sage, 25 Scoundrel etc. etc.). And many 10-20lvl PvP (WZ) only leveled characters that i CBA to check.

    Long story short; started at release with my commando - my friend's friend was playing on different server so i ended up leveling 43 vanguard on that server. Got burned out and bored and quit. Returned back little over 2 week a go and focusing on the Sorc now (and trying not to burn myself this time).

  12. Yup.

    Also there is another thing. Remember when they were "threatening" to make all the gear very class-strict so they can be easily recognised from afar...? I can't say anymore if that guy in the robe is a smuggler, trooper or a Jedi if he doesn't have his lightsaber on or I actually read what class he is after I atrget him.

    But that's off-top. I want to know "why hoods".

    Isn't there a class icon above everyone's name or something... :rak_02:

  13. I've never suggested that any gear should be nerfed, but thanks for the bump.

    I think they need to consider adding some craftable PvP armor, mods, etc. to help fresh 50s get some expertise before entering warzones and make professions other than biochem useful at endgame.

    Crafted expertise gear (for armormech/synth) and expertise mods (cybertech/artifice) would indeed be the way to go.

    Would solve _some_ crafting releated issues in this game and help new 50lvls not to go "splat" so fast :)

    edit:

    Or like mutee below says, bring back the 50lvl blue PvP set.

  14. and you have to appease the choices made by the majority (PvE players)

    Source?

    Because my sources say different (that you're not majority).

    From http://www.torstatus.net taking top5 highest populated servers for both (PvE and PvP) gives me following averages for last week (7 days):

    EU:

    • PvP 2,14
    • PvE 1,95

    US:

    • PvP 2,21
    • PvE 2,18

    population index: light = 1, standard = 2, heavy = 3, very heavy = 4, full = 5

    Also Top5 highest populated servers for EU and US (both) contain 3 PvP servers and 2 PvE servers. Top10 highest populated servers contain 5 PvP & PvE servers for US and 6 PvP & 4 PvE servers for EU.

    I cannot be arsed to do the averages between all of the servers, someone bored enough can do that. But i bet that the population is about 50-50 between PvE and PvP servers (or really, really close).

  15. Why so many SITH? There were only like TWO in the movies. How come they're all over the place?

    Better question would be, "Why so many Empire players? Because in couple thousands years, the Empire will (basically) lose the war."

    :rolleyes:

    (Sorry, it have been kinda long since i watched the movies and episode 6, so i might remember the ending wrong)

  16. I agree 100 % The whining is pureley from pvp players who feel they know best.

    Source? Right, you've none... And no, it's not them.

    It's the casuals who play less than 8 hours a week, and still want to be geared in same ammount of days as the ones who play same ammount in a single day. And those who are lazy and want everything right now, both PvE and PvP got these type of people.

    That is what happened in WoW, and many other games with their 'end-game'.
