  1. Sorcs = no good anymore hands down. Yes we can still do decent dmg I guess. But what does decent dmg do if we cant kill anybody? Sure we can dot everybody on the opposite team and get decent numbers. But that means nothing if we cant kill them. 1v1 against somebody decent we will lose 99.9% of the time. Just depends on how much health they are coming at us with. Yes we may have a lot of utility, but with Resolve the way it is, and 8 people mashing down some type of stun feature, its slim to none. Force Speed? Thats laughable. Once again, anybody decent can prevent that right away. It happens numerous times trying to flee. And no it dont have to deal with knowing when to use it. It has to deal with somebody knowing when to stop it. Affliction is worthless, Crushing Darkness and Deathfield is ok. But most premades or with people focusing on a target/targets. So you throw a dot up in hopes your dps sucks enough to get some use out of the dots. You will see that there will hardly be any Sorcs in any premades once rateds come out. And our Bubble is a joke as well. If you dont spec into it or even if you do, most dmg is going to break it in 1 or 2 hits of putting it up. Then what? Force Speed away? probably not because you will be stunned and dead. Hence the reason why Sorcs are now being targeted right away in WZ. Because everybody knows its a free quick kill.
  2. Its funny you say this. So no gear for PvP, no XP for PvP, and only way to get gear is through PvE? I can see you are a hard core PvE person. However this is the year 2012. You are still stuck in the 90's. Its time for you to embrace change. Almost any game from here on out is going to have to have PvP in it to make it successful. This game obviously was made for PvP so I dont know where you get that idea from. If it wasnt, then there wouldnt have been a planet just for PvP, nor warzones for PvP. The Devs said they didnt realize there would be this many people doing PvP and that was their fault. They didnt say different.

Your trying to tell the people that pay money to play the game that wants to PvP but nope, you cant have gear, nope you dont get xp. Speaking of Xp, why in the world would that matter anyways if people gained it or not. Either way, You wouldnt spend your money on PvE to not get gear. To spend hours grinding out the content and get nothing for it now would you.

Will classes be balanced ever? Probably not. And not having PvP wont help that fact either. Even if its PvE there will still be classes doing the different amounts of damage and a class would still be OP in PvE. You want the game bread and butter. Black and white. You may play the game like that, which is no problem to me, its your money. But a lot of people dont want some boring game to play that everybody can do the same thing as everybody else.

Point is, PvP is like the Nintendo back in the 80's. Its the new wave of the future, only to MMO's. And as sad as some people might like to think, World of Warcraft did set up something almost every MMO is going to have to match, or come close to. There is a reason why was, or may still be the largest subscription base out there. So a lot of people will be coming from that.

  3. The way they do gear for PvP is just down right stupid. Leveling from Valor Rank 50 to 60 should almost if not all the way gear you out in Champion Gear. So you get to Valor Rank 60 and your Weekly's will get you one Battlemaster Bag? Really? And two Champion Bags which is pretty much worthless. I have been 60 for about 3 weeks now and have got 3 tokens. Each week you can get a total of 16 BM Bags. So 3 weeks I have got 48 Battlemaster bags and 3 tokens. 16% drop rate. Where is this 25% drop rate at?

So today I opened 4 bags and what a suprise to me, i get 60 Champion Tokens. PvP as a whole is broken damn near, and this just makes it pointless to do things in this game.

    Flame Wars Begin NOW!!

  4. I'd have to disagree, some of us enjoy pvpin just for the fun of it.

The more competitive the better, im sure that is what gaming is.

Some do as well as I. But some dont count when the majority dont care. I dont know about your server but I know for sure in the two servers I am in that as soon as their daily is done, they leave the ops group. Or if they are not going to win the warzone because they are losing, they leave the warzone. They get on, get their daily done, leave. Then call themselves good because they have the same gear everybody else has for doing the exact same thing. I am by far not the best at PvP, but I learn, ask questions in forums and try to improve. But I have never left a warzone, unless the game decided to kick me out to desktop (many occasions).

So no matter what game it is, Its all about gear. Not because they enjoy it. PvE they do the same. They get the rakata gear and they are done raiding. Problem here with ToR is they admitted they didnt think this game was going to have that many hardcore PvP'ers. And they wish they would have focused more on it. So now we gotta rely on the patches to come.

  5. Arena implementation in WoW was a mistake. Doing the same here would also be a mistake.

It was a mistake because it changed the way class abilities were designed and balanced and the result was a slow decline to homogenization that is now the biggest complaint about WoW classes.

Once you open up the can of worms that is Arena style play, you can't go back. It is in the best interest of any new MMO to stay as far away from Arena play as possible.

If Arena play gets introduced to SWTOR, the forums will be ablaze with posts about how "X" class is OP or "Y" class is too weak. You'll see endless whining about CC and stuns and how various mechanics shouldn't be allowed in PvP because they unbalance the fights.

You'll see post after post about how PvP needs to be balanced around 1v1 combat and after enough time you'll start to see the forums flooded with PvE players complaining that the changes made in the interest of Arena PvP are having too great of an effect on End Game PvE.

Arena isn't needed. Warzones and open PvP areas coupled with World PvP objectives where the teamwork is more important than team composition are what PvP is all about.

If you want to see if you are better than someone else, duel them.

Forums are already ablaze which class is to weak or which class is OP. So your point there was worthless.

World PvP or better yet any type of PvP is pointless unless there is some type of reward. Which why do you think people go to Ilum do their daily and split. They dont care about world pvp. They want purples. As Far as balance goes, it will never happen in any game that has PvE and PvP in it. They do something to PvP, PVE'rs will grip how it now affects them and vice versa. They need to seperate PvP from PvE. PVP servers are pure PVP servers. Non of this PvE crap. And same for PvE. Update the Pure PvP servers and PvE Servers with seperate updates when it affects classes. Not saying there cant be PvE to do on a PvP server, but you are fully aware that PvE will wont be focused on. So if you want to do both, then make an alt on a PvE server and vice versa.

So in all reality, Arenas wont do anything else to this game then there already is. People will QQ the same. I mean people are QQ about Arena's being put in place. *** you people want? More Warzones? You will get tired of that after 2 months and start crying about wanting more. Its a never ending cycle. My advice is quit playing MMO's cause you will never be happy. And if you say you would, then why are you not in a game you previously played that was so awesome. Its because you always want more more more. Wish these games would just take down forums all together. Must be a headache to listen to people whine 24/7.

  6. Oh I see another apologist. Really you can give up the 'DEFEND TILL DEATH' schtick. You just posted how GW2 is going to fail and WoW is outdated yet this game is the next coming of Jesus lol.

WoW at seven years old looks well above AND performs well above this game from '12. This game can't handle more than 10 people in an area without convulsing. Have you looked at the speeders? Where's the night/day cycles? How about having NPCs that you know....do something? Can we get something besides wallpaper graphics? How about incredibly long load times? How about swimming? Ability delay? Is it me or does it look like my characters chest piece is smeared in mud? Where's the high res textures? Planets that are empty and lifeless? Why does my client freeze up when I open and close the character pane more than a couple of times?

As I've said before this game is a step backwards :

HeroEngine directx9 single threaded vs. WoW multithreaded engine, directx11, IPv6 support and 64bit client. Ya hate more.

This right here has to be the best post ever. Dead on with it. I dont really like WoW anymore however he just nailed it.

Fact is WoW didnt have a lot of stuff when it came out, but they came up with what some people call Ideas to make the game better. Bioware I understand may not want have everything included from the get go, but from the looks of it, they wanted to add everything in later patches. I mean, a waterfall is next to you and you cant hear anything ????? Realy, they cant even add a sound effect in? Between this and the bugs that make PvP pointless to play, I am going to give myself until patch 1.2.1. If things dont start looking better, I guess I will hope something else comes out this year.

  7. I don't think many people got into this game just for the pve or pvp in all fairness, but hardcore elite pvX'ers are obliviously blind and selfish to the game's needs as a whole as our friend just demonstrated. Oh btw, the new warzone disagrees with your opinions about pvp, and my pve routine is fine so far too. =p

And you seriously think that a lot of the people left WoW or any other game for PvE in this game? Operations that could be pugged from the get go? I mean I can understand if you want to do PvE and have no problems breezing through it. A lot of people dont. Fact is, this game besides the bugs even brings nothing to the table that other MMO's dont. Well ok I lied, it brings a storyline. Which is great the first time you level.

Point is, I am just talking about bugs thats major for PvP and people quitting due to it. Fact is, there is a post About where do you see yourself in time with SWTOR. Almost every reply back is 1 to 3 months before quitting. This game is so behind the times of other MMO's. And yes I realize they shouldnt come out with everything at once. But when people are used to a certain way, they would expect it to be in a new game.

WoW didnt come out with all this stuff from the get go and they thought of new things to bring to the table. Bioware should be able to do the same thing. I mean a couple of examples are.

"This game can't handle more than 10 people in an area without convulsing. Have you looked at the speeders? Where's the night/day cycles? How about having NPCs that you know....do something? " ---- Was posted by another player and is absolutely correct.

  8. So... there are PvP QQers and PvE carebears, if I'm reading this right...

Those who do both PvP and PvE are.. uh. CareQers? Am I doing this right?

Now, as a response to the OP: just keep on playing. Expecting a game that is less than 6 months old to be perfect is about as logical as expecting to survive a nice swim in a hydrofluoric acid-filled pool. Enjoy what's there, suggest fixes for the issues you find, and keep playing.

... this is a game, right? Not a lifestyle, career or religion?

Wow, Finally, a first post that was worth reading. Not saying some of the others was not. But Majority wasnt. Yes I will keep playing. I will give it a patch or two after 1.2 and hope for the best for PvP. And dont get me wrong, for you PvE'rs as well. Just sucks you have to spend 5 hours to 6 hours just to get into ques and get your wins or suffer through lagfest in ilum if there is a lot of people there fighting. Hell, tab targeting somebody is tuff to do right now. Hopefully with they things they are saying about pvp thats coming with 1.2 also includes those two major fixes that needs to happen.

  9. QFMFT

I had to quote this troll-shattering post. This is not talked about enough. TOR never was nor (hopefully) never will be PvP-centric. If PvP is your goal in this game then do us all a favor and unsub now. So you can quit QQing and BW can focus on the PvE, story-driven RPG aspect of this game.

Not being a jerk, just stating the facts. BW should have never put PvP in TOR at all. Not everything under the sun needs to cater to everyone. I see EA greedy hands all over this PvP nonsense.

Yep, I say take PvP completly out of the game. Lose half a million subscribers and cater to PVE. Which in turn they cater to the carebear PVE'rs, which will end up making the hardcore people quit. Then they lose another half a million subscribers and that will in turn make this game worthless for Bioware to update. Yep makes a lot of sense there.

  10. lol, nothing's flawless, the game's improving very well so far and as a comparison, I know 10+ year old games that are still receiving bug fixes, Diablo II is one, WoW is getting there.

I'll keep playing because I like the game even though I'm aware it's flawed like everything else in life.

Yes I know there are games, and always will be games with bugs. But at least they fix bugs, and new ones come up in new content. But at least they can prove they can fix the major ones.

  11. Heh, first MMO kid?

What am I going to do in [insert MMO title here] if patch [insert patch number here] isn't absolutely flawless?

I'm going to crap a brick from the shock of seeing the first ever flawless patch for an MMORPG.

Yep, you caught me. First MMO and I am a kid. Just love trollers.

Let me explain how things work young one. Do you read some of the forum post about BUGS that make things not enjoyable for people to play.Im not talking about OP classes. As those can be fixed quickly. May take some time to balance out but can be toned down. Im takling about BUGS that makes the game UNPLAYABLE. Such as not getting credit for wins to complete dailies, about facing a team with an unfair advantage of 2 or more players on their team. People getting disconnected from the game. Going into Ilum only to find it unplayable because of SERVER LAG. What in the world do you think all this gets you? Here I will explain.

The revenue brought in from 2 million box sales would equal roughly 120 million ($60 per unit). If the game did cost the newly estimated 200 Million Dollars, the 1 million retained subscribers would need to play the game for approximately 6 months at $15 per month in order for the game to recoup its investment money.

So basically what that means , since I am sure I have to explain this to you, They have 6 months that they have to hope nobody quits the game. And because you have to WIN to complete your dailies to progress in PvP and get your gear, pisses a lot of people off to where they dont want to play. And just in the forums alone people are talking about letting their subscription to run out. Not to include those that done get on the forums, or cares to write in the forums because of trolls like you. The more Bioware is unable to fix quickly that makes the game unplayable, the more people will quit. Which will in turn take longer for them to even break even. And this dont even count for what they have to pay everybody to do the updates, and new content. If it gets to the point of it taking one year, I can almost guarentee they will write this game as a loss and spend most of their time working on a new game. This happens in a lot of games. But I am sure you know this because you have played a lot of MMO's.

  12. That's extremely wrong. They have fixed a huge amount of bugs so far- it's just that those bugs seem to get forgotten they even existed very quick after being fixed.

Some bugs- as said in the dev message, may be a lot more tricky to fix and take longer than others.

Also- they can't stop releasing content- that'd be the death sentence of an mmo. Not to mention, content devs are different from the devs fixing it- it's not like they can really pull the ones doing the content over to start fixing it.

Bugs are just a part of mmos- I mean, only real way to get away from it is to stop playing mmos... then again, I did take a break to play Skyrim which had awful lag and half the quests were broken so I guess even single player games are releasing bug full these days.

I definitely know quite a few bugs that have been fixed since- pvp, questing and FP bugs each. I also know some bugs that have been around for a long time- fact is, they are fixing bugs, they obviously know about them, but for whatever reason, certain bugs are worse.

Oh I am sure they have fixed bugs. But when the whole concept of completling dailies for PvP (which I only do) ok maybe PvE once in a blue moon, are broken to the point of being unable to complete due to the bugs it annoys me. If I play 10 Warzone matches, lose 5, win 5, 2 I get disconnected, 2 I get no credit for, and it seems as of lately 4 or 5 have more players in it as attending would get anybody who wants to focus on it, a little upset and wondering if they truly can fix it or not before people start leaving.

And if this game has 1.7 million subscriber, which I just read the other day. Its going to take 4 to 5 months for this game to even break even on the cost it took to make this game, that they will lose a lot more subscribers. Which will in turn take longer for them to break even on the cost of the game. Then what are they going to do ? Say screw it, we are not making any money off the game the hell with it. Lets go onto this other game we have been working on for the past year and hope for the best.

Really hope they figure this stuff out before more people start distrusting Bioware.

  13. well its obvious you've never programmed before, as you don't seem to know how game development works. There is a timeline, and a priority list. An exploit like that of course is something alarming, but they can't just drop everything and have everyone focus on that. Someone decides what priority it takes, and it gets taken care of (hopefully) in the next patch. Believe it or not, here are probably bugs that are more pertinent that are being worked on. I don't doubt that this exploit has a high priority but you need to realise

1-This exploit surfaced pretty recently (and thus, has to be taken care of in the next round of patches)

2-Finding out the source of bugs like this (with no clear cause) is difficult.

Just have some patience. Its not like Bioware is ignoring us (even though, if you believe all the complainers, it seems like they are). Like I said, if you don't like the pace at which they are fixing the game, then stop playing. But raising alarms about problems everyone is aware of and making doomsday predictions doesn't help anyone.

And have you read the patch notes on the test forums for 1.1.3. they said they have fixed the problem (like in the previous patches) but the difference is, they list the problem that seems to be the source of the bug, which is good news.

And you obviously never played in the beta. Because that exploit has been around since early to mid beta. And to tell me to have patience? Have you been following at all what they have been saying? To tell me they had Ilum fixed only to see it get worse. To say they have fixed Warzone getting credited TWICE in the last TWO patches would get anybody to wonder if they can do it. Once they show me they can fix a bug then maybe I will start believing it. But so far the are 0-2 for one bug that annoys the hell out of me. To play 15 minutes of huttball, to wait in que for 10 minutes to find out you get nothing out of it. Now its either you have all the time in the world to play this game so it dont matter to you as much, or you have no life outside of school and could care less because as long as your parents let you on the computer you are content. So go troll in another forum post. I asked your thoughts and your opinion on the patch, not what I said. a Simple I dont care I will still play this game and pay $15 a month for things that dont work all the time would have been good enough. I PvP. Not PvE, and when PvP is broke it frustrates me. As well as others.

  14. Another armchair developer who doesn't understand different teams work on different content.

Some teams fix bugs, some make content, some model art, some do whatever.

So...please...understand your idea of how it works is not how it works.

I understand how it works. Have you ever heard of the statement dont fix something that isnt broken? Well it works the other way as well. To add to something that is broken. Fix what you have before you add something different. If PvE is a joke, PvP is a joke because all the bugs then why in the world would you add something else to the game that is going to have bugs. Pretty soon there will be to many bugs for the people that dont work on the *content, model art and whatever* to have a handle of it.

As said before they still havent even gotten the warzone wins getting credited fixed like they have said they have 2 patches in a row. So while you are on your high horse, stop and think about what they said they have fixed and havent, and to only make some worse. Ilum is not even enjoyable now since they *fixed it*.

And I asked your opinion on what you was going to do, not your opinion of what I said.

So..please..understand the question at hand and what it asked, not what you think about how I put it. Otherwise stop trolling and answer a simple question and maybe your thoughs of how they are doing. Or troll another topic.

  15. I think its a little to early to be ringing the alarms. We still have 3-4 more patches before this content update. As far as I know, they figured out the source of the not winning warzones problem.

plus, as you said, its a new game. There are gonna be bugs, and some bugs are very difficult to pin down. I don't know if you have ever done any programming, but the bugs that seem to the ignorant as easy to fix are actually incredibly difficult to pin point and find a solution for. I'm sure they will fix many of the problems in the game, and if they don't before they release the content update, i'm sure they will continue trying to fix it.

Overall, I think you being a little too alarmist. THings will be ok. If you are unhappy with the direction the game is going, stop playing.

No they havent figured out the problem for the not winning warzones like they said they have the past 2 patches. I havent done programming before. However thats why these guys are getting paid a lot of money. They do know how to do it. Something like an exploit of having 10+ players on one team in a warzone should be an alarm to them. They should stop whatever they are doing and fix that immediatly. Who really wants to face a team with 12 players on alderan? That is when you actually get that warzone.

  16. Yea we all know bug fixes need to happen, but pushing new content is what keeps subscribers. How many threads are there about "What to do after hitting 50 and getting geared" Well new content is the only answer to that outside of "Roll an alt". They have to get new content out on a regular basis to prevent the game from stagnating.

Yes new content does need to come out to keep people. But also bug fixes needs to be fixed in order to keep people as well. I honestly think bugs in the game not being fixed, at least in PvP will get people to quit over new content. PvE they just need to stop catering to the carebears and make it harder. Or people just needs to stop rushing through things so fast. You do that and you will always be looking for something to do. I for one have grown tired of queing from a warzone to not get credit or disconnects. And I know I am not the only one that has this problem. Or queing for a warzone facing 10+ people on the opposing team.

  17. Bioware has enough developers to both fix bugs and add new content. Don't forget that most bug fixes are added in new builds rather than new versions (IE 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 will most likely have mostly bug fixes, which 1.2, 1.3, etc. will have content updates)

Yes they do have enough developers to fix bugs and add new content. However those fixing or should I say trying to fix the bugs now, cant figure it out since beta, how do you expect them to fix bugs thats in the new content. I mean 2 patches in a row stated they fixed the bug on getting no credit for winning a warzone. And still you get no credit on warzone wins. Seems they will be further and further behind. And now with all these exploits in Warzones come out, and still getting no credit for wins, I dont know if they will catch up. I mean they havent shown yet they have been able to fix something yet. They have been claiming to fix things which has turned out to make it worse. And this isnt just my opinion, but its all over the forums.

I do hope for the best as I like this game a lot. And I really want PvP to be fixed and be great. I just dont see it happening before a lot of people quit the game because they have gone tired of waiting for simple things to be fixed.

  18. Just wondering what everybody else perspective is once 1.2 patch comes.

What I dont understand is why are they adding content to the game when the original is not even fixed yet. There are so many exploits, bugs, disconnects in this game to be worrying about adding content. This is all coming from PvP perspective as I dont do much PvE. So feel free to add content for those PVE'rs if its bug free or at least tolerable.

But I dont want to see any more Warzones if the first 3 plus Ilum are a complete joke as of now. 2 patches in a row they have claimed to have Wins actually credited to you and that is still not fixed. Disconnects right towards an end of a match so you dont get a win. Unable to click the rez button after a death so you get kicked from the warzone. Unable to get on a bike sometimes in Alderan so you get kicked for being a deserter. Allowing people to have 10+ people on your team in warzones.

Played 6 games earlier today to have 2 wins not count, 1 unable to click the rez button and 1 disconnect.

I know come 1.2 if it isnt basically flawless my time will probably end after that next patch if it isnt fixed.

    Your Thought?

And yes I know this game has only been out for 2 months almost. Counting early access. But some of these bugs should have been fixed as they have been here since launch. And actually some of them have been around since early beta.

  19. Fair enough. However what will you do come 1.2 patch if it isnt flawless. You going to stick with the bugs? I mean if the people working on the bugs right now cant fix it, the new content comes out, those people are now working on more new content ? Then what, its a never ending cycle. If the people who are not working on the new content, cant figure out how to get rid of the bugs, at least the major bugs, aka exploits and not getting credit for wins, then how do you expect them to fix the new content bugs from here on out.

    Just sayin

  20. Just wondering what everybody else perspective is once 1.2 patch comes.
