  1. I alter this slightly to allow for better DoT spreading in AoE situations:

Throw>Charge>Impale>Ravage>Shatter>Scream>Slam. Slam spreads the DoTs from the other 3 abilities. If you have the right amount of alacrity, you should be able to get the slam off just before the DoTs from Impale and Ravage wear off.

Also, I rarely use chilling scream unless I need the AoE stun for some reason.

What about sundering strike?. I'm not very clued up on guard/jugg but always used sundering after throw/leap?

I tried that sequence on dummy but couldn't get shatter off due to not enough rage?.. do we need to use enrage before throw? or should sundering be woven in early?.. have noticed we need to use filler strike or something now to generate more resource.. least I noticed that on my combat sentinel.

  2. yeah not keen.. very not keen. I'm the exact opposite and would rather buy a permanent account wide 12x class boost or the same but as a week token or similar.

Screw side quests have done them all, never again!. LONG LIVE 12X!!.. for those of us who WANT to play the MMO part of the MMORPG (as in do the story and get into endgame pve/pvp for those who may need it spelled out)

  3. might just be the wording gets changed but who can make them remains the same. Probably easier to do a global replace X with X and leave it as is than have to recode a new aug in and delete others. EG armormech's skill augment instead of now being cunn/end is mastery/end. Same for synth etc etc so forth and so on.
  4. Sony can't even make a gaming controller and got destroyed by Xbox, that's all I have to say about Sony.

please explain?. PS controllers are fine? and to my knowledge PS systems have outsold Xbox every generation since launch?

  5. Two different games. But I do believe that any other big studio with the same budget as bioware would have pulled this one off better.

Very true, I suppose I should've elaborated a bit more. Umm ok.. I understand and respect they 2 are very different, I've only played a very very VERY little of the GoW series (much to my regret now, gonna buy the boxset tho anyway). I suppose the point/topic I was trying to create was, transpose Swtor as it is now (think more along the story lines here) and imagine them being done by Sony in a similar vein to the GoW franchise, or atleast with the same artistic effort/flair.

If Sony had done this game, if would have been SWG2 or something similar, I'm quite happy with Swtor thank you.

PS. everybody talks about how bad EA is for game support, Sony is even more ruthless, when sub numbers dropped, they probably would have binned it.

Whilst I'm aware Sony held the license to SWG we can't really say how they might've handled it. I unfortunately missed out on SWG but from what I've read and seen it was overall really good (save the NGE?.. update?.. internet says that sucked balls).. I can't comment on game (customer?) support as I've had an overall acceptable experience with both companies. I don't think it overall fair to say Sony might've binned the title with the drop in sub numbers as the drop was caused directly buy BW/EA. The game had an almost fanatical following and rivaled (surpassed even I believe) WoW's opening numbers. However once it become obvious just how seemingly inept BW/EA where at handling/developing such a beast (along with numerous bugs (reported during beta but not fixed), QoL additions that should be considered standard in a 2008 MMO, and much much more) numbers didn't so much drop as totally plummet.

However this sub drop is also slightly exaggerated due to the ridiculous amount of servers at launch, whilst numbers don't lie the fact there where so many servers and resulting merger's made it look worse.

  6. Bit of side discussion, I'm currently watching the God Of War cut scenes (pfft more like epic movies!) on youtube.. really wished I had've played the series lol it's so awesome!. Anywho.. gotta say as much as I do love swtor I reckon if Sony had it, they'd have knocked it right out of the galaxy.

    Your thoughts?.

  7. Erm... my tank spec got all this.

I can interrupt like any other char can.

I can pushback with the consular basic ability (cone attack).

I can stun for 4 seconds with the short time stun that every class got.

I can knockback with the flipback skill (dont know the english skill name), which does a bit of damage and knocks the enemy of his feet.

And I can force run, like all consular can.

I do not even know if all of those skills work on the mob, cause it simply is not necessary. Interrupt what needs to be interrupted and stay out of range, when he does his rage attack... you only need 1 interrupt skill for that to work. If you cannot do it, but I can... well... hardly a balance issue then, is it?

I am rather a carebear who knows what he is doing, than a wannabe-PvP-pro, who got no clue how to outdamage a scripted mob. Or are "real men" unable to compete with a carebear-mob?

@mmjarec ooohhhhh damn.. here's some aloe gel for that burn bro. As JP said, asn/cons has 4 abilities that can interrupt/evade. The commander is just a elite, not a boss/champ. The corrupted beast boss thingy THAT one can only be interrupted by HARD interrupt (jolt, force kick etc) Commander you can int, stun, mez, etc etc.

2ndly don't throw PVP around thinking it gives you some kind of credit or elevated status on here, makes the rest of us who can PVP look bad.

  8. The guy up in the tower?

You need to stay away from him, when he tries to cuddle you... Sounds strange as a melee, but it is necessary to control that guys movement.. and a shadow/assassin got more interrupts than most other classes... basic interrupt, push, stun, kick... and force speed to get away from him... what more do you need?

^^ exactly this.. all you need to do is interrupt the reaping and sowing or whatever their called. His ravage just kite.

That quest is easy as with asn,

  9. We have not scrapped the idea and it is still our goal to release it. I unfortunately do not have a timeline right now as we are still working through some issues with the system. This is definitely the kind of thing you can keep your eyes on http://www.swtor.com for more info on as we would announce it when it is going live.

    Thanks!

    -eric

Eric what are/will be the rules with it?.

    I want to purchase some coins (RE: a LOT of coins) but want to wait for this deal. Can you pls examine and answer the following?;

1: Is the discount applied only to the "standard" amounts as is on the website right now?, and if so does it only apply to 1 "unit"?

2: If NO to "1" Will discount be applied at checkout for the overall purchase?, will there be limitations on the purchase? (Don't underestimate how much I want to buy.. talking 55k coins (10 x 5500) at a start)

3: If i purchase some coins before this new deal kicks in, will I be ineligible for the deal?, or will past purchases be ignored once it's launched?

    Thanks in advance.

  10. this x 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Ive just started geting into the full on pve side of things and the 25 limit is a frikken joke. I need space for about 50 i reckon for all the quests I pickup then do. Or have running like weeklies and the mount quest etc.

if the engine is so poor that it can't dynamically set your tracking based on planet location then something is extremely wrong. Why would it need to "track" missions on hoth when i'm on tatooine?. If we unselect the tracking in the quest log then there should be no issue!

  11. Judging by the the PTS everyone who is affected gets the effect.

Actually I am relieved by this, less stuns is a better thing in this game. Beside just because the grenades didn't have this effect before, it doesn't mean before was the correct way to do things.

How does the change affect that ? The only difference now is that your team can't spam throw them, you still need to think critically on how to use your grenade in order to achieve your objective. Or you like easy mode for yourself and hard mode for the affected targets ?

Can allow a node to be saved/blocked for that 1-2 sec till a teammate arrives, this is both for offense and defense. As i mentioned in OP CC management should've always been a global diminishing return between hardstun, root/slow, mezz. Not hard to do and better than the debacle of resolve.

  12. Had a further thought, how are the targets for this immunity going to be determined?. Grenades are AoE in nature so will 1 grenade with a max target effect of 5 apply the immunity to 5 targets?, or will grenades now have to be targeted to use and the immunity placed on that target, with the AoE not being affected.
  13. The only people that DON'T want this type of thing are the very people that are scared of it.

Years of WoW and I didn't see any "elitism" (except for GearScore and idiots demanding content achievement linking in PUGS) unless you really weren't pulling your weight. With enrage timers tight (extremely in some encounters) the DPS race must be bang on to clear the content. All you negative head-in-the-sand people either dont' care nor realize the frustration (and cost for repeated repairs) that possible wipe after wipe can cause.

Not having them say during the first year of this game I can understand and accept, now.. no. Game is old enough now to justify such a thing as players should be doing the right thing and coming into the game front loaded with information. Personally I knew pretty much everything there was to know about my Sentinel before I got my first wave of early access invite.

Someone said before that carrying bad gear is doable, this applies very much to me with my new tanking as at the moment I'm failtank due to gear and mechanics, but I'm learning and I would welcome a threat meter to ensure my rotation is optimal. Seen many people claim "oh we parse 1345420000000000000 dps" on dummies".. yet their groups wipe?.. If you parse such numbers then prove it. Having to mess around with external parses is just a pain, a plain good ol meter (not just dps but hps and tps) would end all arguments or claims of being leet godly whatever when the meter says otherwise.

Well patch notes are up, one thing that stands out to me as completely stupid is

    Cybertech

All Cybertech grenades now bestow a new effect called Bastion on the target, in addition to normal effects. Players who have this effect applied are immune to further Cybertech grenade attacks for the duration of Bastion (3 minutes).

Really.. can you guys not screw something up each patch?!?..you might as well get rid of grenades all together, why even bother having them!.. a 3 min cd/immunity per target is a joke!. Apply it to resolve, Diminishing Return (how cc management SHOULD have been in the beginning) or 60 sec or something. A well timed grenade can be a critical thing in an objective based wz.. unless all you guys care about now is the brain dead ezy-mode death-match. The PVP community as a whole already gathers you care little for us or this aspect of the game, the evidence to that is just too overwhelmingly obvious, but c'mon. Stop kicking us while we are down and give a little thought and attention to this aspect of the game pls.

One day hopefully someone in the dev system will realize that pvp is actually more-so important than pve as it applies to the Star Wars IP. In the 3 cinematic's you can't help but notice tonnes of rep V imp action (didn't notice any groups doing pve'ish content.. Heck even the Live action Ad is a massive 40+ pvp'fest... that surprisingly didn't lag lol) , yet we are treated as the poor cousins :(

  15. Was just reading a thread on some (a lot ) of the things wrong with this game and it got me thinking. We don't know how much control or input EA have/had but given some of the obvious issues we can only assume it is considerable.

So what if Disney decided to go it alone so to speak?, build up Lucasarts as a full on production house. Blizzard did the exact same thing and that has seemingly worked out well even after the merger with Activision. Doing so would then eliminate EA from the equation, and allow Disney to either retain Bioware for the coding etc, or develop/hire their own people. Doing so I think would then enable dev's/customer support and all other facets of the organization to really shine. Again tho, this is on the assumption that EA have had a mostly negative impact on BW's development of this title, unless an insider comes out with the truth of what's going on @ Irvine we (the fanbase) will never know.

  16. Only thing they need to change is decrease the spawn area size or increase X minutes between re spawns (movement wise). Failing that increase scan size from 25m to 100m.

Solo'ing it now is just bloody painful, am doing it at the moment with my asn and feel like crying. Have so far spent 2 hours on taris for this piece. Jedi temple about the same.

Those that have said they solo'd it in like 2 hours or something are either very fortunate finding the spawns or full of ####

  17. That may have been an old definition, but taking an item you can't use has been called ninja looting for some time.

SWTOR complicates this issue now with the ability to transfer gear via legacy items and also companions.

So the moral of the story is, 1) communicate with your group as early as possible about their loot intentions 2) group with friends and guild mates and you will not have to deal with this as much.

Then it's not ninja-looting is it. NInja'ing has only 3 definitions that are applicable to it.

1: Raid/op setting where master loot is set, item not awarded to whom won roll but awarded to another or kept by master looter (generally resulting in master looter leaving group/area)

2: Looting item/s that they had no hand in helping to acquire. Diablo 1&2 made ninja-looting a common term (if not created it) as you could run up to a boss/mob as it died and take all the loot without even touching it.

3: Looting an item you simply cannot use. Why would a heavy armor warrior roll on a wand or caster weapon etc etc so forth and so on. **

People throw "ninja" around so haphazardly without even knowing its actual definition or appropriate context, in a FP/OP situation here in swtor you can roll on ANYTHING you like. If no set rules where laid out before the start then it's FFA.

** - Swtor allows you to gear "companions" (which are deemed to be a part of you) and transfer mods etc from items via legacy, or full items via the same. As such this eliminates any contextual limitations to the term "ninja" as it's a "working as intended, part of the game" therefore any party member may roll on any item he or she see's fit.

  18. Working as intended I'm afraid :(

BW openly said when pushing F2P that they wanted to invest into the micro-purchase model as they feel/felt that it would generate substantial or more income than the subscriptions alone. Market feeds the "I want it now, must have it now, zomg look at that mount/pet/title/emote" etc and the masses lap it up and bow to BW as mindless drones led by non other than the dark council of the blinkered fan-boy/girl, who's perpetual state of denial about the truth of this game moves them to blindly praise what any in a real life situation would call a "go back and do it again" product/situation.

For those of us (myself included) that have been around since the start and don't have our vision clouded by blind devotion/adoration all share and acknowledge that we paid/paying for a beta. One of the MOST posted about topics on the old beta forums (and gotta see if it's here as well back on the first few pages) is that BW released this an easy 6 months (possibly more) too early and invested FAR too much time and resources on the "story" aspect of the game whilst heavily neglecting the other facets that MMO's need to round themselves out.

What we where offered (and right now I suspect the a-fore mentioned fan-boy/girls to start baying for my blood) is quite simply a single player game with large scale multi-player ability and some side dishes, in effect we are playing Mass Effect with a Star Wars mod. Can we blame BW for playing to their strengths?.. no, they did exactly that. Can we blame them for focusing far to much on that aspect and not drawing on the previous and current successful MMO's to form a "blueprint" of what to offer?.. OH HELL YES!. Also keep in mind that BW haven't and can't just run rampant so to speak, EA is/are most likely keeping a firm grip on their leash and as such EA has been/is blamed for the above mentioned early release and overall lack of "polish" or substance.

But that's the way of things in the gaming world I s'pose, Galaxies shutdown just prior to release.. Mists of Pandaria was right around the corner (in before WoW?) and we all know, like or dislike WoW EVERY expansion sees an immediate influx of new or returning subs. Sure a large % of these can/do/will/may bleed out once content is cleared but I feel a considerable portion would remain. To my previous comment about drawing on the success's and whatnot, I've been very VERY vocal about it I don't deny that, am I a WoW fanboy?.. used to be, but am no longer. What has driven me to an almost blind rage with BW/EA is that, and I've said this MANY times. World of Warcraft, love or hate it is THE, I say again THE market leader for MMO"s, and pretty much the measuring stick for all that have and will follow. Now Blizzard haven't done anything original, there is no originality in MMO's with the exception of the IP's themselves. For that you are harkening back to the days of Ultima Online, Ever quest and back further. BW's most seemingly prominent failing is they have seemingly ignored what has made many other titles so successful and just banked purely on the IP's popularity.

By now I suspect several "oh you think your so good lets see your MMO, do you think you can do any better" rebuttal that is spewed out by funnily enough the same group of people here. My response to that simply is no, no I don't think I could do any better.. I KNOW I could. Whilst I'm not a dev or coder I wouldn't need to be. Kick out the lead producer or whoever (the boss of the dev's, designers etc) and rip this game apart to build it up as a whole, capitalizing on what has made the most successful MMO's in the past have done (and of course where possible trying to be innovative, no need to reinvent the wheel here people). Not rocket science but yeah, as has been mentioned in this thread and others it seems glaringly apparent now this game is nothing more than a cash cow for EA till such time as overheads > income.

On a side note, whilst reading over this before posting I had a thought that I don't know if many others may have considered and would like to explore. That is 1 side of the story we don't or haven't heard. What do the dev's think?.. Are they truthfully, honestly proud of their creation?, what are their personal feelings and thoughts?. Honestly I feel the dev's have been far too quiet on the subject. I understand that maybe they have been gagged?, perhaps a condition of their work contracts precludes them from speaking about the game without it being scripted and approved by management?. I don't know. American labor laws are in such a way that those threats could've been made or imposed. I imagine that the industry would be very name/word of mouth driven and should a dev/coder do such a thing and be fired or given a bad reputation. I imagine they could/would find it difficult if not nigh on impossible to find employment in the field again, at-least say with a large name production house. I have no evidence of this, it's just purely my own conjecture but I feel that the time has come for the dev's themselves to either stand up and defend their work, or admit there are some "issues" that need resolving.

If you read this wall of text you have my sincere thanks, agree or not it doesn't matter I just appreciate it personally as I find the "tl:dr" type people worthy of nothing more than a bullet.
