  1. Correct me if i'm wrong, but based on that maybe OP thinks that mirror class of operative is gunslinger?

In that case mirror class of operative is scoundrel..

No I asked this because I HAVE played an Operative to max and wanted to try a Sniper/Gunslinger now not a Scoundrel. I wanted to know if Sniper, aka Operative was going to play out the same as Gunslinger/Scoundrel would. The choice is sniper different the slinger other then storyline. Not sure I would like the gunslinger line of story.and playstyle.

  2. I see all these posts on Snipers and nothing constructive on Gunslinger that can help me.

I have played The Operative class to 70 and wanted to play the Gunslinger now as that is the same but not healer version on the Light side.

That said I do not see much at all on the gunslinger set ups. Do I just that the sniper builds and go from there? is there anything specific to a Gunslinger that makes them slightly different?

That and I honestly do not know the mirror skill names to just swap them from the sniper to a Gunslinger.

    Any help for 5,0 builds?

  3. I recall L60's started with 190's (?) which was green par L60 at the time. Don't know what L65 starts with. I'm sure they aren't naked :)

But you can start up a L60 or L65 to see what gear they have. As long as you don't complete a quest/crew skill/etc, you can delete and recover the boost slot. So, you can create, escape story immediately, check their gear, then delete.

But yeah, you lose the ability to do class story and Shadow of Revan/Ziost. If you have never done them, I strongly recommend NOT using the boost right now. I'd second the suggestion to move a character from your home server (with highest legacy, perks, etc). After emptying mail and stronghold storage of course. And taking them to new server if that is your main goal.

Frankly, I consider the boost to be about the worst idea they've come up with. Though I can think of some particular specialized applications for it (ex: a seasoned player who wants to do with new content without losing their faithful comps).

As I was thinking , the Boost was to play an different character then I had in the past. I really did not want to go through all the storyline to 55 over again even on a new character, but if by use the boost I lose out on 2 or 3 other story content lines I may have to rethink the process.

I do have the 55 Operative, 55 Juggernaut, 55 Sage and a 53 Sorcerer I can play through to see what comes from them. I just wanted to make a Torgruta since that skin is available now.

  4. I have played various lightsaber classes in the past and dabbled in the other classes as well.

I have the Boost to 60 or 65 and can not decide which class to choose in the Bounty Hunter class.

As I pretty much solo PvE and PvP, maybe get a random FP or OP if I choose...Is the Gunslinger/Sniper a viable choice? I did play a Sniper in Beta, grenades were the FotM back then.

I have played an Operative to 55 and have that option to play out the KotFE chapters and whatever follows down the line so I have done the healer version of the class.

So is there anything unique to these two classes that would tilt a reason to Boost one, one way or the other and enjoy the game differently then I have in the past?

  7. Yep. In Chapter 1 of KotFE you lose all your comps. By Chapter 9, the first time you can move freely again without jumping out of the story, you have 4 new ones and you also keep Treek and HK 51. Then you start recruiting the companions from other classes, and even may meet some of your own.

You CAN get back your old companions, in chapter 9, but they'll have nothing to say, and play no role in the story until they return officially (if they return at all).

As for transfers, sure, the mule will also move your legacy to the new server, giving you all the achievements and legacy unlocks, including decorations you had on the origin server.

But if you haven't done the story after Oricon, i strongly recommend doing so. Two of the "new" companions you learn to know in the series of Flashpoints that lead to the Shadow of Revan expansion, and Ziost is the reason why you actually enter Zakuulian space in chapter 1

Ok so I have a 55 Operative and 55 Jugg on one server and a 55 Sage on another. I do not believe I have done SoR on either, at all for a matter of fact. I quit quite awhile back and resubbed for a couple days here and there but I am sure have not completed any class story other then the Jugg, Operative and Sage. Unsure about the Sage though, I have to check.

I am currently doing something, no idea what, with the Jugg. made me go to some place and dismantle some transmitter towers in Jedi territory or such. Again I have to check.

What story is Oricon? the original storyline?

  8. The char will actually have the gear he wears during chargen. Stats are okay for a level 60/65.

He will also have 3 maxed out crewskills (guess still 550 for an instant 60) and all companions but no credits.

And of course all Story that comes before KotFE (level 60) or KoTET (Level 65) will be considered finished.

Currently server transfers are on a discount (90cc) so you could transfer your characters over to the new server (but you'll loose all mails and very likely have to choose a new name)

But I could transfer over a mule character with credits and possible better gear?

Also I understand I lose all companions associated with the boosted level 60+ character and get new ones if I do the storyline from KotFE? Is this correct

  9. As the title says...If I boost a character to 60 or 65 on a new server and it is the only character there, will it be naked and I will have to go find gear or will it have level equalivilant gear to start with?

I have other characters on 2 other servers, but they are dead it seems, so using the boost on a new server seems like the right thing to do to get to a populated server near level 70?

  10. I am going to ASK further here...

I have various characters at level 50+ to 55. I also have the ability to boost to 60 or 65.

I plan to play a 55+ through the 2 new storylines and get it done there.

Question now is whether to boost to 60 or 65 and continue playing the game on that character from here on out.

SO...what level to boost to? Will Boosting a 60 be of any value since I have the Boost to 65 as an option?

I want to play the entire game, not just PvP or PvE, SO>>>>>>> what class is the ones to stay away from because they server no real purpose, meaning I understand Sage for example is pretty useless in group play unless you are healer , Does this hold true for an Operative and Scoundrel also?

If I want to play solo is there a better class for that NOW vs in the past.

Is a Guardian truly just a Tank or are they more valuable as a dps, even more then a Marauder?

    Thoughts and advice always appreciated.

  11. Basically it is your choice to go with 60 or 65. Once you use it.. it is consumed.

So... you have one free one with the expac and it works for either choice.

You can buy more, from the CM, or from other players on the GTN though if you want. I snapped up a bunch of tokens from other players off the GTN when I saw them at low prices... so I have a half a dozen in storage. Prices of the tokens went up a lot on the GTN as 5.0 approached, so they are not that good a bargain at the moment.

Note: you have one free one period.. NOT one free one per server.

I understand the one per server.

    But I have 2 options.

I can boost to level 60 to play the KotFE story.

I also have a Boost to 65 to play the KotET story

The question is do I have 2 boosts or only 1 if I boost a character to 60... or do I also get the option after doing that to boost a different character to 65 on the same server or different server.

OR will that boosted character cause the boost to 65 to disappear if it gets to 65?

  12. Wouldn't a high Pop server be best in any matter? Players there is you want to find a group or solo and skip any players. Seems a low pop server is of no use at all, middle ground seems ok but again no one available should you want a group for some operation or group adventure should you want to do one.
  13. So I have subbed, the game allows me to create a new character for KotFE and have it boosted to level 60, ok thats fine.

But subbing also allows me to make a new character for KotET and boost that to 65.

    Question,

If I create a boosted to 60 character will that eliminate the boost to 65 option?

If I create a character boosted to 65 will that eliminate the boost to 60 option?

Or no matter what I get both boosted options?

And last can I split the characters onto any server even a different server entirely?

  14. You can level Pierce for free too by doing warzones.

For some things such as the eternally boring championship you need a melee companion, my personal goal is to have 2 level 50 comps on each toon, 1 melee and 1 ranged (with both for crafting/gathering missions).

Skip healers then and just go all melee? I would think a healing type would be a good option if I were a damage dealer.

  15. I am returning to the game and have the 65 boost. I am wondering what class is more fun to play in doing so as I will be skipping a lot of the main start storyline for them. Is one of the classes actually more fun to PLAY? Not necessarily the best as far as damage or worthyness in PvP but actually fun?

I have played a Sage to 52 and had a blast doing so , way way back . Also played a Jugger to 55 and it also was fun. The Operative I played to 53 was easily the easiest to play and thus ok but not actually fun.

See where I am getting at ? I do not want impossible to play because they just cant fight, I would like a balance of challenge and fun given the current builds which are completely different from what I played back in the creation days for the first year.

  16. I am a returning player and I am going to use my 65 boost . But what class has the best companion to use in doing so? Is MK any good and worth the purchase? Is there a companion that has always been good, as far as companions are in working correctly with the main toon it is assigned with? Does it matter at all with the compainons available with the added storyline?
  17. Far from eltitist. Rift is a bad game. There is no challenge at all in it. They release content fairly fast which for a couple of weeks is hard as hell but then gets nerfed due to the outcry on the forums by the people who feel they are entitled to all the content without any effort.

This does not mean that the Raid concept is bad nor the game. But them nerfing the content is bad when they cater to the players that whine the most. I do agree that nerfing any raid because it is hard is an option, they do need to stop nerfing the hell out of the good ideas they have and just make players work for the rewards. History shows that players like a challenge and not spoon fed. Though some players just don't understand the idea of working for the enjoyment of success.
