  1. Daniel,

If your polling of WZ results were accurate and reflective of real game PvP, you would not have gone forward with these changes. That is blindingly obvious.

The current system is causing a significant divergence between haves and have nots, and it gets worse with every game played. I tried to PvP all weekend and not once, not once, did our side (Republic) start the game with a full group (in games that I was present at start). There were numerous instances of the group getting full well after it was too late to do anything for a win.

So what does that mean? It means that the high population Imperial side continues to gain rewards at an alarmingly higher rate than the Republic. The gearing disparity gets bigger and they get stronger.

At least in 25% of the games I played, I got in during the final moments. Yes, you say you're going to address that, but you're not addressing the real issue. So what if my one medal allows me to get a token WZ Com, the Imps got the full amount and our side got squat in comparison...back to the real problem.

P.S.: If your data *is* accurate, then you need to explain to us why you think this current disparity (as expressed above) is considered by BW to be a good design.

    ^^^

The way it goes today, the imbalance is awarded.

  2. Also just as bad is have 4 players, then 4 more join 30 seconds before the match starts and they don't make the first door timer because of the stupid speeder bike. How is that speeder ride not being removed in the patch!?!?! It might be the stupidest part of the entire game.

    So freak'n true!

  3. So, I was in an voidstar match. Playing in Republic side.

The game started with 4 reps against 8 imps. The 120 sec countdown started.

Although we knew we where going to lose, we kept fighting (actually, 1 left, leaving just 3 reps). Two minutes of pain is bearable.

Obviously, after 100 seconds, the empire had already capped almost all doors. But its ok, we knew we where not going to win and the match was almost over anyway.

In the last 5 seconds, 4 reps joined the battle and the countdown was aborted...

    My reaction -> http://t.qkme.me/35onan.jpg

    This is just not fair.

I don't mind losing a fair game. I don't mind losing playing with 1 less on my side (endured that many times while the bug that allowed more then 8 players on a wz ops was on). But this situation was ridiculous, to allow the match to continue was really unfair.

The match shouldn't have started to begin with!!!

This felt really worst because I was tired and just fighting to earn my daily and go to sleep.

This is really going to be worse when 1.2 comes out (not the daily part). Because the reward gap between the winner and the loser is bigger (it pains to give free rewards to an unfair fight). You won't be able to rage quit the match without being penalized. You won't be able to just stand up and go to the window scream out your frustration (AFKers kick). You will have to keep playing for the next 8 minutes, knowing you are just giving free rewards to the enemy. And be happy about it.

The countdown should be 10 seconds and be done with it!

    Edit: thanks!

  4. I would create another topic, but lets concentrate the infos.

Can some Dev/Staff answer if there is gonna be any perk for the person who invite friends and their friends buy and subscribe to the game?

No need to be like a free month or stuff like that, but at least some social item or a mini-pet when 1.2 comes out.

  5. Patch 1.2 doesn't have an ETA right now (or did I miss something?), so you may gear up while you wait anyway.

Besides that, it is usually better to escalate you gearing in PvP, duo to the huge gap between new 50's gear and battlemaster gear. But this gap is reasonably smaller from champion to battlemaster.

  6. The reason people abandon the game at level 50 is directly connected with the difficulty to pug up.

There a lot of casual players that didn't got into a guild, and/or doesn't have many friends in game, and/or the guild mates are not 50 yet. Without a really useful tool to pug, the guys has to go through several planets shouting out in general pledging for group. And that sucks.

Many of my friends abandoned the game because of that, and I stayed only because I love alts. :)

  7. On my 50 guardian, what I'm trying to do is throw saber -> LoS -> wait some guy to come -> start fighting using my 27 quickslots with my back to the wall.

Almost impossible to do on Hutt Ball. But it is a good strategy on voidstar.

On my vanguard, I roll over anyone. The guy is ranged? Pfff. Stick granade, Cryo granade, High Impact Bolt, full auto, 2 more abilites, done. The guy is melee? Stock strike, Stick Granade, throw some lighting, break cast, Ion Pulse, stock again, Ion Pulse, done. The guy is running? Harpoon.

    Really balanced. :)

  8. Did you actually ask other classes, play them all to 50, or do any credible research before posting this long narrative before being wrong on about 90% of it.

You need to take the line " Some other gripes I have but need to do more research on...or would love to hear from those that know for sure...." and do that some more..

I agree in terms with what he posted.

The animation differences gives the empire side some advantages that summed makes a good difference. For instance, Awe is a group cc counterpart of the mentioned one. But Awe doesn't throw you to the ground, so you can come back faster. Other thing I'm testing, and so far I have confirmed, is that it is more ease to come out of Awe stun (need less damage).

The Death from Above issues is true (compared many times with my trooper against mercs). The sage one I haven't tested (but I will).

The Alderaan issue may look little, but actually it is not. As many battles in middle tends to drive the battle to an even score, I have seen many many situations where the republic looses for less then 30 points of damage. This means that, in those 2-3 months, the Imperial side have gained more valor and commendations, that summing up gives a tangible advantage.

But the biggest advantage on my perspective that the Empire has over the Republic, is the Jawa companion. Dang... I wish Republic had a companion as awesome as Blizz.

Changing subject a little, I found that " 57% Empire to 42% Republic" statistic kinda weird. For instance, the great majority of guilds in the Summit where Empire. So, it kinda indicates, for me, that the GREAT (as in more then 15% difference) majority of 'active' players are on the Imperial side.

  9. So, it was said that the CE and DE color crystal are going to get some upgrades in the new patch. And I'm wondering if the black-green color crystal that comes with the razer products gonna get an upgrade too.

I'm willing to buy the headset, and I really would like to use the black-green crystal (best looking crystal imho) on my lvl 50 characters.

    Anyone heard anything about this?

  10. WoW may not have had BG's at launch but at least it had a decent, responsive interface, a solid game engine, an open source UI, combat logs, etc. Like others mentioned, WoW's pvp didn't need gimmicks because the game was simply fun to play regardless of environment.

I'm a 25+ year PC gaming veteran and it still baffles me that a 200 million dollar game couldn't get the simple fundamentals right. Such a shame.

They could fix the gear issues, balance issues, roll out 3 more WZ's, merge servers, fix Ilum, etc. but in the end we're still stuck with a laggy, poorly designed, un-optimized 6 year old game engine and an awful community to boot.

Its funny how some people forget how unbalanced (shaman ruled over everyone at anytime), bugged, laggy, crashed and flawed WoW was at launch. Comparing WoW at launch and SWOTR at lauch, WoW looses in everything.

Even after several years of WoW, Blizzard sucked at launching the game in Brazil for instance. Lots of lag, servers crashing, huge queues, name stealing (yeah, even that) and a huge lack of community support. Their disorganization was astounding.

But as I said before, it doesn't matter if SWTOR is better at launch then WoW was. WoW has raised the bar. There are a lot of new 'basic functionalities' that are mandatory and BioWare overlooked while developing. For instance, there is no offline integration with the game (like WoW armory or the mobile app Rift has now), and the community channels have very little tools (some guild forums have more options then this - like a simple and visible subscribe button).

Despite everything though, I'm loving the game. :)

  11. Yes, they do require more skill.

However, that skill does not translate into gains over other classes.

A bad sentinel is probably one of the worst classes, but a good sentinel is not better than everyone else.

    o/

Guardian goes the same way, or worst.

Its kinda silly, you using 15+ skills in every fight, and being out-dpsed by someone spamming a skill. And we're not even talking about survivability yet (try to LoS a Sorc when you are attacked trying to plant the bomb with cd down).

  12. I believe that it is fair to compare SWTOR to WoW today not WoW's launch. You may ask why but the one reason is pretty clear: WOW has been out for 7 years you have 7 years of data you could look at and easily see what WoW did right and wrong and build off that.

    1. The fact that SWTOR engine sucks is a huge issues as to why SW is dying, the fact that high end computers have fps is a ridiculous.

    2. The population imbalance is another issues, its not fun running around as a Republic player in Ilum when its 40v10 in favor of Empire. Also the box camping issue on Ilum is just stupid. Now there isn't much you can do about this but atleast come up with some creative ways to make people wanna play both.

    3. Huttball is just stupid. When 80% of the WZ I play are huttball I get bored and decided to walk away from my computer to play xbox. Now this is also an issue with the population imbalance but you could easily make the other WZ same faction fights. It might not fit the story but atleast I'm not stuck playing Huttball all the time.

    4. The fact that WZ matches start with unbalanced teams is stupid. Either make it so that its 6v6 or wait till it can be full, its not fun when its 6v8.

    5. You got rid of Assassins hybrid specs but you allow Sorc to keep their hybrid spec is a huge oversight, why where assassins penalized for hybrid specs but Sorcs aren't. Also if you noticed WoW got rid of hybrid specs because they were sick of this problem.

    6. Look at what WoW did with its LFG tool it made it easier to find people and you could just hop on do a dungeon instantly (now dps ques are long but they made the change to that bag so more tanks and healers would que). Also WoW has the cross server pvp matches so I don't have to wait forever to play a pvp match.

    7. All the exploits that are in SWTOR is ridiculous.

I feel it is fair to compare WoW of 2012 to Swtor of 2012 because Swtor had the advantage of studying all the stuff that WoW did right and wrong and could have easily learned from it. It doesn't seem as if they did though, you need to learn from the past to make things better.

I have to agree. It is as if they just look what WoW is bad (poor immersion, repeated pve leveling content and etc) and forgot to see what they did that was awesome.

The lack of a good LFG system, having WoW as example, is hard to swallow.

Cross-realm PvP solves so many problems, that is absurd not to expect it nowadays.

I understand that thinking 'The game is only 2 months old, give it a break' may make some people 'forget' the bugs, exploits and unbalances (childish as animations! >_<) , but they should have saw that other MMOs have raised the bar. They can't bring a game to the market expecting success if the product is a result of 2 year old standards. If SWTOR was released in 2009-~2010, it would have rocked the foundations of the gaming industry, but today, it is just a good MMO with too many problems to solve.

I love the game, I probably will be one of the 500k people some are foreseeing, probably will be one of the 100k if it comes to that, but what I really really wish, is to be one of the 5000k next year playing some Space Combat Operation. :D

  13. i cant help but to remark and say that Human is an option, but apparently you dont like your real species, lol.

    I chose humans...

Honestly unless another race offers a tangible combat benefit i see no reason to play them.

    Human pride!

Nothing against humans. But imagine if they release Jawas as playable race! Imagine a Jawa freaking trooper holding a bazooka!! Too much awesomeness to not feel compelled to it.
