Merc DPS is everything but lackluster...
EDIT: oh wait, that depends if you mean PvE or PvP though... but for PvE the choice is easy :
Merc DPS : ludicrous damage, easy-mode
Shadow DPS : hard to play, lackluster dps
Great, thanks for the advice, maybe they were just some old guides that were saying that. Would you recommend they pyro or arsenal skill tree?

I've got a lvl 55 character of every spec except these last 2 - Jedi Shadow or Merc Bounty Hunter. I've read some threads and both seem pretty lackluster. Is one more fun than the other? I don't want to play a Shadow Tank or a Merc healer, so i was thinking about DPS for both. Any thoughts or advice?

I have multiple 55s and was wondering about the best augments. For example on my Jedi Sent. I had thought i would just go with lvl 55 Might augs since it's a DPS, but i was wondering if it might be beneficial to add some augs that were End, Power, Surge and even Def? Any thoughts on this?

Thanks, didn't see this because it's not on the patch notes on the installer. Just the patch notes from 12/17, didn't see the 12/19. Thanks again.

Can anyone tell what this patch fixed? I hate it when they don't give patch notes. Even for something small i'd still like to know what the patch is for.

As the title says, i'm a 55 healing Sorc and i'm trying to decide which companion I should gear up to run dailies and such. I'm geared with all 156 gear and was thinking of purchasing the same for my companion. But I don't know which one does the most damage or if i should go with one of the tanks. I've also got both HK-51 and Treek. Any thoughts?

You do get it whether your are light or dark. I just finished the chapter 3 storyline with my sentinel a few days ago. I made her full dark side. At the end Satele says that she can sense the darkness in you and cannot therefore confer the title of "Master" on you. But after that is over, if you go to your titles you will see "Master" listed. Personally I'd prefer them to give you "Dark Master" or something, but the point is, you get it either way.

Crit is not a tanking stat.
So should Power & Surge be considered or just stick with Defense, Absorb and Shield?

So i played a DPS jugg all the way up to 50 before 2.0. But Now i'm wanting to switch over and Tank. I'm buying the new purple 50 mods with my planetary comms. Question is, should i go add some mods with Crit or stick with Defense, shield, absorb?

The real reason all of these analogies are failed?
The only items that have been "taken away" from us are VANITY/COSMETIC.
So, not equivalent to a cable channel. Not equivalent to an oil changed.
More -- you bring your car in for a paint job. They say, "Come back around christmas and you can get another one free!" You show back up, and can only get the original 20 colors -- but not the new 10 they've added.
You can get the new 10 at a discount, but not free.
Wow, talk about bad analogies, you just hit the nail on the head my friend. When you get ready to purchase <insert analogy here> and the vendor/dealer/seller etc. says...
"First, you can continue as a subscriber, which gives you unlimited access to ALL game features and future Game Updates at no additional charge."
And then later decides that by "ALL" they really meant "SOME"? That is the issue. Remember "ALL game features and future Game Updates" includes cosmetic features because of their use of the word "ALL".

Comparing a capital expenditure for a tangible item like a car is also an extremely bad analogy when comparing it to a service (that's what your subscription provides.. a service) for a trivial monthly purchase. Especially when the Car comes with an actual contract that stipulates what you said.. whereas the actual contract you agree to for this game says specifically that any and all content is at the descretion of the game provider.
No, not when it comes down to a statement that was made about what you would get and then the group making that statement changes their mind and decides not to offer it. That makes my analogy very good and easy to understand.

Try this one.
You sign up with a TV provider. Doesn't matter which one - satellite, cable, whatever. And you take their middle of the road package - 200 channels instead of 150 or 250 - because that's the lowest one that has the handful of channels you are interested in watching.
Then a few months down the road, the provider switches around the packages and channels such that one or more of the ones you care about aren't in your package any more. Some are simply no longer available with that provider, some are moved into the more expensive package.
Never happens though, right?
I guess it depends on whether or not your cable provider promised you'd always have certain channels and then decided to take them back. If that's not the case, then your analogy isn't very good either.

So i've got 6 or 7 50s that i've been working on getting up to 55 ever since 2.0 hit. But last night I hit 50 with my first alt since 2.0. First thing I noticed was - no free gear. I guess i should have been expecting that since the gear vendors are gone. And I know that I can buy some really great purple item mods with planetary comms, but it's gonna take a lot to get me and my companion all geared out. So, is this just the way it is now, or am I missing something? Do you think this may be something that get's brought back in the future? Getting the Tionese gear right at 50 (although it looked like crap) was really helpful when doing Hard Mode FPs. I hope there is a simple solution. Any ideas?

6 months ago I told my mom I was planning on going to school to get an MBA. Now I changed my mind and don't think its worth the money. Does that make me a liar?
Bad analogy. Try this one - You buy a brand new Toyota and get the extended warranty because they tell you it will cover all your oil changes up to 25,000 miles. Then at 5,000 miles you take it in for your first free oil change and they tell you that they changed their mind and they won't cover them any more. That's a better analogy for what BW is doing.

So there's a lot of hub-bub about how subscribers will have to pay cartel coins to get the cathar and blah, blah, blah. The BW response has been, "We give you 500-600 cartel coins per month." True. I think the concern though is more about the precedent that it sets which is "Will the rest of the great new items in the game be things that go to the cartel market that subscribers will have to purchase with CCs along with F2Pers?"
Yes, subscribers get an allotment but that allotment isn't enough to cover all of the new features that will be in 2.1. As bioware responded, the monthly 600cc that subscribers with a security key get will be enough to cover unlocking the cathar, but will it cover the cathar, and dye packs, and character customization and rename, etc. No, for that subscribers would have to wait another month.
So, my idea - I used to play City of Heroes and we got Veteran rewards for every month that we were a paid subscriber. Many of us in SWTOR have been here since Beta and on the 180 days sub renewal. I think introducing a Veteran Reward system would be a great way to handle all of the issues listed above. Whether it's automatically unlocking things after 12 months of paid sub time, or enough cartel coins to purchase everything in the market legacy wide. Anything would be helpful.

IMHO sith corruption looks awful in every race. Very unimaginative. Your skin fades and you look veiny. I would prefer something more menacing and less like my great-grandmother. Until then, i use the "Hide" option on all my DS toons.

They certainly wouldn't have been my first choice for a new species (Togruta, Nautolans and Mon Calamari being my top 3 choices)....but if you have any interest in other new species being added, then you better hope the Cathar sell well. The devs have already stated that the success or failure of the Cathar will determine whether they spend the time and money to develop any new species. If the Cathar flop, you won't be seeing any other new species. So trying to discourage others from playing Cathar with snarky quips isn't too bright if you want more species. However, if you have no interest in any new species and you're just hating on the Cathar because you like to complain and hate on everything in life, then carry on, lol.
Mon Calamari??? I cannot understand why anyone would want this species. Is it because you want to run around yelling "It's a trap!!!"? Cause you know that's gonna happen. The only species i dislike as much as Mon Calamari are Rodians. I hate Rodians.

No, i disagree with your point. Getting HK-51 on a lvl 1 character makes your starter planet so much faster. Even though his gear isn't at scale, on a character under 10-12 he has better stats than you do. So since you are probably "spacebaring" through all the conversations anyway, why not add a little extra edge.

I think with both Revan and the Emperor you need to apply "Soap Opera" logic. They are not dead unless you see a body, and even if you see a body it could have just been a clone/twin/possessed.
So no, i don't think Revan is dead or that the Emperor is gone for good.

lol, I don't even remember who Bastila is. I actually liked the Consular story, though. (Consular, not Counselor)
Bastila Shan is one of the main characters from KOTOR. She married Revan and Satele Shan is their decedent.

So i said possible spoilers in the title because this question could only be answered by someone who has completed the Jedi Counselor storyline.
Someone had told me that the Jedi Counselor storyline was boring but at least you found out what happened to Bastila. Well, i completed the whole story and unless i fell asleep or was too drunk to remember, i don't know what happened to her. So is it in the storyline and i missed it, or not?
And i agree with it being a pretty boring storyline, at least compared to the Jedi Knight.

I wonder...
If they know how may people purchased the CE version and can also tell how many of those people still have active subscriptions, then that might be why there aren't updates to the CE vendor. Even though this thread has been going on for months, if there are less than 100 of us who are CEs and have active subscriptions then they might not view it as worth the trouble of creating anything new even though they promised they would in the initial CE description. Just a thought.

Yes, major problems. I've tried every fix listed in this thread multiple times. It's trying to download the whole 17gigs of the game. Keep getting errors. What's the deal? Why is this working for some and not others?
