  1. Problem is they should have thought about these things prior to release.... They knew that at some stage server transfers/merges would need to take place. I dont know a single mmo that i have played where it hasnt. Their lack of forethought is the problem... Yes server transfers should happen now. The reality is its not going to happen for a long time and they will keep loosing players in the process.

It all comes down to poor planning and bad business. Now the players on dead servers are leaving in droves.

they did apprently. I read on the internet (so it must be true) that transfers were working fine until they brought in 1.2 and legacy which broke transfers.

  2. Thomas you make good points, however, I'm the one paying for the service, not the one providing it. Its not my job to solution the potiental issues. That said and more importantly, there is something called "lessons learned" You seem like an intellegent fellow so I think you know where I'm going with that.

I honeslty dont think its as hard as most people argue but rather an issue of priority or the lack there of.

You can believe what you want to believe the fact of the matter is it is not as easy as you think it is and saying it is easy does not make it so no more then saying the grass is red makes it red.

  3. Those players who were fine with the game as it was and were happy to wait need something to do. Without anything to do those players will find something else to do. That's just human nature.

They needed to put in more content or at least get the community excited about content that could be coming but communication with the community is very poor.

Where are the little quirks like choo choo train is coming.... all dried up... what communication there is from bioware is as souless and empty as a planet without critters and those little features that give an MMO life.

we are extremely excited to announce patch 1.3... we are not share holders... we are gamers... we are working to make this game good... please treat us as peers in this respect and not share holders

No new content in patch 1.3 and no new content communicated to be in the workd with even a coming soon. As much as I love this game I see a snowball rolling down a hill gathering momentum.

  4. Why are you going to remain "subbed" ? No one ever has an answer. Because you like Star Wars?

Because they just laid off a huge chunk of staff? Because they have publicly stated Tiger Woods golf and Madden have higher priority? Because they started out with an open weekly Q&A, that steadily devolved to a semi weekly mostly we are only going to answer questions that you can find in the general forums anyway session?

Any indication as to why you will stay "subbed" would be a appreciated.

I resubbed for the story and end game PvE. I like the comabt animation in swtor only realized how much I like them when I saw some gameplay from TSW. Animations are nice in swtor. I don't see any other MMO's coming this year that I will enjoy more.

I also like the fact that TSW does not have a cash shop.

  5. Which all goes away with a very min amount of money spent, such as , if you selected to pay for a monthly premium, many features are unlocked even when you revert back to the F2P basic. LOTRO does so many things right and I have yet to see 1 advertisement of any kind pop up.

Players can choose what content they want, for very low costs, however again, with a regular monthly sub, you not only get this, you also receive a monthly stipend of points to use in the LOTRO store. Frankly, any game that wants to go F2P should look at what Turbine has done and learn mirror that success.

There are practically no gold sellers either, no spam to deal with or it is so little that no one really sees it. Turbine is doing things right on so many levels.

but you still have the cash store being advertised everywhere. I felt like I was in a lortro themed super market. Also there are things in the store which you will need to grind for if you sub and for somethings the grind is too much to encourage you to buy. That's if you want to raid. The expansion packs still need to be brought although you can do the same grinds on several charcaters to pay for them it really isn't much fun and you will need a lot of time.

They are a business. If they can get you to pay a sub and MT they will.

  6. Hey guys, so i haven't played in a while and have been pondering on whether to resubscribe at this point in time. There are rumors, some might say facts, that Ea is somewhat letting go of Swtor, comparing it to their golf franchise in terms of revenue and thus reducing the team and funds allocated for this game.

Are the rumors true? Has swtor already become just another mmo doomed to a slow death? I'm really concerced about this, looking forward to your answers.

Don't know if anyone can assure me that the game will still be updated regularly but at least a "we'll do our best, trust us" from one of the remaining devs would sure boost my moral and i guess many of the old players and potential new customers.

Thank you for your time, have a nice and wonderful weekend.

    this from yesterday http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=463321

today they gave lots of details about 1.3. 1.3 going to hit PTS in a week or so.

there has been a hint at something called superservers.

if you come back then play on a populated server unless you are happy to wait for transfers which should come early summer.. they are working hard on it.

EA said SWTOR was in top 10 games for profitability and some people took this to mean that swtor was not in their top 5 games so sky was falling

  7. Given a choice between a hybrid F2P system like LotRO has, or having SWTOR shut down completely... Which would you prefer?

Keep in mind, for those paying a $15/month sub in LotRO, the game is almost exactly the same as it was before it went to F2P, other then that there's more people playing it and they actually get new content. Same goes for CO, pay a monthly sub and you get everything you did before, without spending a single dime extra.

    I'd quit the game.

  8. in terms of profit for the company SWTOR is in the top 10 for EA. It's not in the top 5. This was more to remind investors that EA is more than just SWTOR and if SWTOR fails completely then EA will still be going strong.

I would imagine for an investor in EA this would be reassuring that the company success or failure does not hang on one game.

  9. Prediction: Server Transfers will stop the bleed, hold subs steady.

After 1.4, and possibly 1.5, all these MMOers who really should not play an MMO until it's a year old will be back, and subs will rise. And there seems to be a LOT of them. Most people on this forum, for example, should really stay away from MMOs at launch.

Overly optimistic? Maybe, but I don't think so.

I think by January next year SWTOR will be comfortable. At the moment people are comparing SWTOR reality to the fantasy hype they feel about other games to come (TESO, GW2, TSW).. by next year we can compare the realities of each and SWTOR wont be bottom.. TERA will be bottom before SWTOR is. IMO ofc

  10. So your telling me that you have a full party and your party is routinely fighting with other full parties for mob kills?

    Colour me amazed.

To be honest, I was expecting you to just be another solo player, unwilling to group up in open world for missions, instead fighting with people you could be teaming with to get that elusive mob kill.

I do group up rather than compete. Too many people play like it is a single player game and other people are just obstacles so they rush to kill the mob before you rather than group up.

I do not enjoy events like the opening of cataclysm. When it is that crowded I log out for a few weeks then come back when the area has calmed down. I have other stuff I would rather be doing.

  11. I don't understand why players with this attitude play MMO's.

What because I don't find it fun pressing tab and 1 continually to try and compete with x amount of other players on the same mob.. lol.. that is not my idea of fun.

I like to play in a group working as a team to overcome obstacles. I find that fun. I enjoy raiding I enjoy instances I enjoy the story.

I find the idea of pressing tab and one continually and waiting for respawns very boring. It's good you enjoy this though and my suggestion does not stop you enjoying it.

I don't understand your attitude that everyone must play your way or not play TBH

  12. Many of the vocal members of this community would not put up with LOTRO's LFG tool. ability delay.. animations.. or turbines business model.

    or raiding

    or gear progrssion

    or legacy system

it is it's own flavour of theme park model of which WoW, SWTOR and LoTRO are all flavours of.

  13. Having watched this game evolve through early beta, I would have to disagree that dumping 6 dozen new servers into the pool at one time was their plan all along. Their plan was a "staggered launch" which became a much questioned catch phrase during open beta. BW bent over backwards for the mob who screamed like hell for them to avoid the launch login queues that WoW had. So here we are.

They also bent over backwards to give pre orders as much early access as possible. Remember the whine from players who pre ordered a week before official launch that they didn't get 7 days of free playtime.
