  1. For example, we are shifting the healing created by the Kolto Cloud ability to be front loaded in 1.2 to allow it to act as an emergency Area of Effect healing tool.

Can someone tell me what "front loaded" means and how it will effect Kolto Cloud/Recuperative Nanotech

Front loaded usually means in a more immediate form. a clean heal effect rather than a hot for example.

  2. Having just played an unnamed games beta weekend (admittedly it was primarily a press/media phase) and having access to thier devs for chats about balance, the ethos of "continuous improvement" and how metrics need context rather than slavish devotion, I was astounded by the fact that Bioware is just not as open or forthcoming about information.

I don't even remember a time in the swtor beta where the devs were as professional as the other games team are (though they are still in beta, and as I said, most of us playing were some form of journalist). I would personally like to see thier inhouse team run some content, just to see class make up, talent set up and gear levels just to see how they play to make an operative healer as fun and "viable" as the force user version.

  3. I know you kids are trolling, and that's fine. It's the state of these games (and our society) now. To the person(s) who actually had interest in the topic and discussion, nothing compares to actually playing and learning. You can make theoretical spreadsheets and create perfect rotations, but that all goes to **** when it comes to actual boss fights and specific situations. There is no combat log to support people who argue about this anyway. This class is HoT based and that needs to be your focus. Listening to people that spend more time posting snarky **** in forums than playing the game is not the type of person you want to learn from. Good luck and have fun.

To the trolls, I hope your lives gets better. :o

Initially, they were correcting you, not trolling. SInce you ignored them, and thier helpfull offer to prove themselves, they started to troll.

Doesn't mean they are wrong though.

If you still feel that you are a strong healer, fair play to you but if like me, you have all 3 healer archetypes and have tested them in identical circumstances (only variation was as an operative, I have a sorc rather than a sage as my secondary healer, my other 2 are republic) you'll know just how much easier you can make your second healers life, by simply not playing your op/smug healer.

  4. I do, and many other FPS games over the years.

Then use that for your "real" pvp fix, this is a stat/gear based MMO, developed and advertised as such. It has issues with cast times, lag, synching - autoface while not fixing these, at least acts in partial mitigation.

  5. Void Star is all about activity.

For example, say you stop the team from getting through the first door, but they managed to place a bomb once and it was disarmed.

Then you come up to attack and also do not get past first door and do not place at least one bomb, then the other team wins.

if you both managed to place at least one bomb, then the team that placed first would win.

While it is possible to have a complete tie, it is statistically a very very very very very long shot.

If none got passed first door and none placed a bomb, then likely has to do with kills, damage, etc.

Well, everytime its happened to me, the 1st attacker always wins, them or us.

  6. You know, I just don't feel particularly gimped at all as a healing operative. My only concern, really, is that community perception would cause operatives to be excluded for no particularly good reason.

For a long time, I didn't bother speccing into Recuperative Nanotech (Kolto Cloud). I actually like it now that I've experimented with it for a week or so. It's a mobile group HoT, and it doesn't usually tax my resources all that much. Pretty nifty. Maybe I'd like it a little better if it lasted a few more seconds (since it's something I most commonly apply in anticipation of damage -- to help regenerate/conserve precious energy before the next cast -- which means that the initial healing it does is more or less wasted). I love to put it on ball carriers -- having a heal that is working to heal the people in the carrier's vicinity (the people who are assisting) is something I really like a LOT. The fact that it moves with them makes it a lot more valuable than I initially thought it would be -- even moreso now that I have invested in my healing PvP set, in addition to my other PvP set. :]

Kolto Infusion (Kolto Pack) is another matter entirely. It really feels pretty crappy for being such an expensive heal. Sure, it has a short cast time, but it is a big-time energy hog, and it also uses TA (UH). When it would be most useful, I find that I really can't afford to use it....and when I can afford to use it, there's really no need because Kolto Infusion (Underworld Medicine) would do the job (and do it better). I really would like to see this ability changed in some way that would make it useful.

Despite these criticisms, I am pretty happy with the class overall. I totally dig the aesthetic (love my beeping probes), and I haven't ever felt like I couldn't do my "job" as a healer. If I played another class, I might feel that it was much more powerful, true. But does that mean that operative should be elevated to that level? Or does it mean that they should be brought in line with the rest of us, so as to avoid trivializing content?

Well, trust me when I throw in with "I have all 3 healing classes at 50 and the sage/sorc resource management makes it by far the easiest to use"

I used quotes, since a lot of you believe a class with a variable, limited resource poor with a bonus random element can even have a chance of competing against a class with simply nore tools and a stable pool size.

    You don't.

My operative can heal almost anything, with the caveat that it's a whole lot less fun and rewarding than doing the same thing on a sage. My commando holds the middle ground here, though makes a superb main tank healer.

  7. That is cool of course.

IMO, lots of this is because cloak screens cooldown is so damn long. Not only is it only ~50% effective (maybe as high as 75-85% in the hands of a very skilled player) but the cooldown is >2 mins. I kinda feel mind warp and sleep dart are very powerful too (and very unfun to play against), so I understand the desire to keep vanish access a little limited...

I'm definitely not the best pvper, so my $0.02. You sound a little more accomplished to me for sure. :D

Well, not anymore ( I'm in this weekends GW2 beta so am scouting it for my guild, the joys of being a media employee :p). I think this is the last day my swtor accounts active but hey, only posting while I patch up ( GW 2!!!1!!!1!!!)

  8. I am an OP, we can clense force dots. It just requires using Evasion (100% dodge for 3 seconds + clense everything that is removable). Its actually quite usefull for doding long induction force attacks and grav rounds, if you've ever wondered how those fail. Catch is that its on a minute cooldown and most people blow it right after re-stealthing to avoid getting poped out by bleeds or aoe. Waste of a very good survival skill imo.

Oh yea, forgot about evasion, my bad. Hell, I play healer so much anyway, so I don't kill anyone on my op :p

  9. That's a shocker.

I also play healer commando and healer operative, but experimented with thier dps forms on guild mates (duel faction guilds are great eh? :p) to build up understanding. I used to be fairly keen on pvp in swtor.

  10. I posted a thread a while ago on the ops forum called how to kill the operative. I wrote this before the Operative nerf, and since then they have only gotte easier to kill.

Here is the basic rundown for ANY class trying to kill an operative

    1) Don't blow your breaker on the first stun, wait for them to whip out the electric knife, the 1.5s knockdown off their opener is only 1 gcd, not that bad.

    2) Once your out of the initial 1.5 sec stun either knockback or stun. Then get some distance, pop a clense (removes their 2k bleed) and medpack if you have them, stick your quickest ticking bleed on them. If they are bleeding they will have to blow one of their best skills in order to be able to restealth.

    3) Once you've got them bleeding, raise defenses and OPEN THE HELL UP. The gank spec op's sustained damage is garbage, their damage comes from their opener. Keep them bleeding.

    4) Fight on your terms. All troopers, sages, snipers and their mirrors should fight from 15+ meters away, the op has no closers at all. Their stun and snare are 10m. Saberwielders need to unload maximum dps/defenses depending on your spec, you either have to outlast or outdamage

    5) Do not let them restealth, keep the bleeds and aoe coming. If they do restealth then bug out.

    6) Only blow your breaker if you are hit with the electric knife, everything else isn't worth it.

Good hunting to ya, it takes skill but ops are not that scary if you know what your doing.

They can't cleanse force based dots either, so maybe thats where my sage has the advantage ( and bubble of course, oh, knockback is also handy)

  11. I'm not exactly sure what their gear looked like. Also, it's not within the span of 1 GCD, they might have to blow all of their cooldowns to complete they cycle, but it's definitely a death sentence if my escape is on cooldown.

All I can really suggest is find one of your guildmates of the offending class mirror and practice. When I was interested in pvp, I duelled pretty much everyone, to work out where they could be countered.

I know a duel is a controlled test environment, but it's all practice.

Worst comes to worst, level up one to see where they can be weak.

  12. A big pile of weed.

Would you accept nose-candy ? I hear it was popular in the 80s.

Also, I quit after a really shoddy customer support experience, so I'll limit my future bioware interaction to ME3 (the multiplayer in the demo, is fun)

  13. I would prefer that they do this. At least then I can enjoy dying since I can't do anything else.

Are these ops in a rakata/BM mix or what ? I have never once seen a post nerf operative or smug 50% a champ geared player of any class in 1 gcd.

  14. It'll usually go something like.

    Knife,

    knock down

    *** is happening face.

    hp below 50%

    knife

    I get up

    Force stasis

    Leg sweep

    shield.

    he vanishes.

    returns.

    finishes me off

Ok, from that I really have to ask, given the GCD is 1.5 secs and his opener+backstab will (if he is reallllllllly lucky) take 6k total off you, are you missing mods ?

Because not to be sarcastic, my sage has 18k hp in similar gear+pvp buffs and well, I can eat operatives. (my own operative is heal spec so tends to stalemate smuggs till team help arrives)

  15. Jedi Sentinel, Watchman.

    Almost full Champion gear.

I fare well enough in WZ's, almost always top 3 overall damage and usually very high in the kill count.

It's just the damn Operatives man.

Like I said I'm almost dead before I can move.

When I can start fighting back I'm down to like 30% hp if I'm lucky.

I simply can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

I'll make the assumption that you ain't at full health when the bad man appears.

    If you are does he-

A: Knock you down, hit you once, dissapear then knock you down again ?

B: Pull out a large comedy boxing glove ?

C: Rely on the ranged guy shooting you at the same time to make a fast kill ?
