Alderaan should be a "no brainer" here.
Look at the turret icons on you HUD. You have one in the center, one on the left, and one on the right.
It doesn't matter which way your character is facing, how you came out of the spawn or if it's 2 am on a Wednesday. The turrent icons on your HUD are always left/center/right. And those icons ALWAYS correspond to the same turrent on your map.

It's an extremely easy to reproduce exploit that can be done "on demand" to always give you three extra people in a Warzone.
-
Or just make the non-reusable ones significantly cheaper, or have the recipes proc multiple adrenals.
-
Wow, no wonder he got 900k healing. Looks like half the Empire team was tracer-spamming bounty huntards.
I completely agree with the context of this threa!
Nerf tracer missile!
Problem solved. You'll never get 2 medals for doing 900k+ worth of healing.

The problem with this thread is it's filled with a lot of people who DON'T play assault, arguing about how their FotM shield spec is better.
Meanwhile, the people who actually play assault in PvP generally seem to strongly support AP.
Onlookers can make the call based on that.

It always blows my mind how in a galaxy with aliens, FTL travel, magic force powers, laser swords and planet-destroying super weapons, people are caught up with..."derp, ammo to stock strike ain't realistic!"
/facepalm

Terrible idea. We're not all tanks. We don't all want to just charge into battle.
Having Harpoon allows us a bit of control and let's us pick our fights.
Terrible, terrible, terrible idea. I can't stress this enough.
-
I disagree with it just being two buttons, but I suppose the rotation could be a bit more interesting.
Right. Don't be silly. It's just one button.

This just in: Blitz is useless. Story at 11.

If you go up the Tactics tree for HTL, you give up a lot more damage than just AP.
Again, back to one of the first points I made...you need all those extra tools/interrupts to compete because you can't compete on firepower.
31 Assault is bringing one thing to the table, and that's brute force, which in most cases is more than enough for most PvP situations.

Burst and DPS are two different things. Using AP when you're under 10m lowers your dps.
DPS and effective DPS are two different things.
It's very possible to have a "high DPS" build that's highly ineffective in PvP.
But like I said, the longer it takes people to figure out how crushing a 31-point Assault build can be in PvP, the better.

Don't know if it will work - just spend about 100k credits on 3 different Armstech rifles, this one I fell in love with. M-500 Nova Disintegrator. Needs completely new mods as it comes with Cunning mods inside, but I'll sure keep this baby.
This is the one I'm using. Spent 25k on the GTN, then another 50k to move my mods. Worth every credit.

*shrug*
To each his own, no point in arguing.
The trend is tanking right now, with DPS being all but ridiculed.
I switched from shield spec -> hybrid -> full DPS and will never go back.
It's hard to express how much damage and burts you are giving up by picking up SS, HTL, etc. for the perception that you're more survivable. The more I play, the more I'm begining to see PvP-Tanking as a trap.
The most effective way to shut down a healer, protect your own healer or hold a control point is to kill the other player.
EDIT: Case in point...taking 2 seconds off Riot Strike. The reason you need to interrupt more is because you're not killing fast enough. You HAVE to interrupt every single heal or tracer missile, because you damage is so low, you don't stand a chance if you can't.

Won't happen any time soon.
We don't look cool, we aren't very flashy, and our numbers really aren't big. Just consistent and constant.
This. I think the fact that most of our animations are so underwhelming, especially on the Vanguard side of things, most people don't see that we're capable of dealing a lot of punishment, while taking it, too.
Our hardest hitting ability, Railshot/High Impact Bolt is near unreconizable.
Hell, I can't even tell when I actually shoot one in PvP, except for the big damage number.
-
Well, it's clear there are two kinds of PvPers, when it comes to AP vs Sticky.
The ones who understand the importance maximizing burst damage and the ones who enjoy waiting to respawn.
-
Anyway my question to players is, do you feel that AP is an essential part of an assault pvp build?
I'm not sure if you're responding to the correct thread.
That's his question. You saw my answer.
It's absolutely essential to an assualt PvP build, imho.
-
I believe OPs question was about AP usefulness in pve. In pvp its obviously essential for burst.
for pve I prefer a tactics/assault hybrid spec running high energy cell so I can keep gut and IR running.
Thread title: "Assault Plastique - essential for assault pvp?"
-
IOn the one hand you have the ability to dish out very powerful controlled burst and on the other hand a 6 sec interrupt makes healers and casters cry in frustration.
You know what really makes casters and healers cry?
Killing them.
AP burst FTW. If you're going for damage in PvP, 31 points in Assault is beastly.
-
There's no pushback. The damage just doesn't start until halfway through the cast.
Which isn't a bug, it's a feature!
-
So what? Occupy Illum?...isn't that what got us in trouble in the first place?
-
I liked the ending. I was ticked at the Supreme Chancellor's decision...
I'm assuming there's more to it after you wrap things up on Corellia?
I just took care of Rakton, and the ending left me empty inside.
I definitely feeling like they put all the thought into Chapter 1, then the rest was fluffed out in a day to get the Trooper to 50. It's remarkable how quickly the content sours after dealing with Tavus.
-
Shield spec plus Elara means you can kill anything one-on-one.
-
We beat melees at range, and we beat ranged in melee.
QFT.
We're not ranged. We're not melee. We're both.
Put the range that puts your opponent at the biggest disadvantage, then profit.
-
I propose that it is in fact the OP that it useless for everything, including making forum posts.
All in favour say aye...
Congratulations, you with the thread.
On to the next troll thread, folks. Nothing left to see here.
4/6/31 with Guard?
in Vanguard / Powertech

Killing the enemy is the most effective status condition you can inflict.
You can get enough protection to get 2-3 medals pretty easy just using your taunts.
Some people also forget where the other 50% of the damage that's not being inflicted on your Guarded target goes...
