  1. Uhh, for most of swtors life, as long as you had the schematic (which generally wasnt hard to acquire), you could progress your gear rather easily. Maybe it wasnt BIS, but close enough to be effective even at endgame. And its generally taken much less resources to gear up via crafting than by other means. There are outlier eras of course, but there always will be. The history has already been written.

6.0 will align the systems better.

I was never big into crafting, but to be honest I never felt out geared. Once they made orange gear readily available it has always been far more convenient to just buy the cheap green mods. Even before then though no gear ever seemed must have while leveling. I played when this was beta and can't recall time I HAD to have something. At most the one crafting that became valuable for many has been dyes and crystals cause people always buy them, but they aren't needed to level either.

  2. I had one person basically say this when I asked them to stop. No offense, but I don't get it. Why not just walk past them? Mobs won't aggro you for walking past once they're in combat.

Obviously I'm still new to the game, so if there's a valid reason for any of this behavior I'd love to know. Right now there are literally 8 people on Quesh, and one of them followed me for about two minutes attacking my mobs until I asked them to stop. What are the odds?

I can see where your coming from but they are not stealing your mobs if you struck first. Sometimes people wanna help and I know the feeling of wanting to be the hero of your story the one who killed it off but if you are worried on XP sense as long as you are the one attacking the groups first all they are doing is helping them die faster, they get locked out of receiving any XP or loot, you get it all.

  3. I have to agree, to me it feels like they didn't really give us five new levels, they just tweaked the skill trees and made loose five points and have to regain them by going through to 55, which means for lower levels you may have even lost powers if you are just at the cusp of gaining a certain power for awhile.

I guess it isn't end of world, but to me it doesn't really feel like we got more skills, just re-arranged skills that cost more.

  4. Well if you only care about the story in this game, you are missing out on some of the best story content by skipping the Flash Points, especially Taral V and Maelstrom Prison (rep) and Boarding Party and The Foundry (imp). If you were a fan of KOTOR, then you would especially be interested in these.

But she isn't missing the flashpoints, not really. All flashpoints up till probably Maelstrom Prison/Foundry can be soloed at some point for the story. You just have to over level. Technically The Colicoid Games to a small extent can almost be soloed at 50 but not quite.

The best story flashpoints though, ie Taral V/Boarding party and Maelstrom Prison/Fundy can both be done solo by like lvl 45ish, Taral and Boarding a bit earlier.

  5. incorrect, as soon as you HIT a mob it becomes locked to you. I start off my combat with a 2-second cast ability. 1-second into the cast these new transfers come along and tag all the mobs with their instant casts then move along so when my attack lands <1 second later I get the aggro and they get the credit.

And for people saying this always happens in MMO's this is simply not true. Up until this point I have only eve had 1 person on my ignore list. I have NEVER experienced this before in this game. Maybe you guys are the problem?

You may have never experienced this, but it happens. I've seen it in a great many games and it is not new, sorry. If you want I can give you a lollipop.

  6. I've done this and other area quests and I have never had one listed as needing more than one person. The one I ran on Tat was definitely solo material. This mission just has 2 strongs that are overpowered. THere ranged attacks do too much damage too quickly.

Many of them are just called AREA quest, they do not say if more than one is needed but they tend to have a final fight a tiny bit harder than normal.

There is though also several AREA4 quests that do require help. There is the one on Balmora (Republic Side) there is one on Alderaan (Can't remember which side, maybe both). There is also one on Hoth (Sith side, most likely a Republic one but I don't remember.)

So there is many AREA4 quests that do require more than one person as you will be fighting usually 2-3 strongs and maybe an elite at once. then areas with all Elites ect.

  7. Might be, but what about quests like Darker than Dark or even the class quest after Voss? Same thing, too much damage...

Yeah they ramp it up in too many damn places. It's like ***... this guy is a beast. You could carve through dozens of people strongs and elites then all the sudden you meet the mega elite that has DOT's of doom

  8. Nope, this quest is not heroic, it's not an AREA2 quest and the 2 tech guards are strong, not elite. They just do a lotta damage.

They remind me if the Elite on Quesh that had a whole lot of fire DOT, but it was just so super fast DOT that you usually had very little time to kill him. But Area quests even if they do not say 2 are still Heroic's they are meant to be harder. I know there is Area4 and then Area and they are still not a cake walk at the end.

  9. I'm a lvl 48 Sentinel (combat specced), my gear is about lvl 45, so is my companion's (Lord Scourge). As I got trashed everytime I tried to do the Area Quest on Voss (sabotage the Gormak), I decided to level and gear up (I was lvl 46 then and had worse gear). So now I returned to that planet, tried again, and ***? Still no difference.

When we lure out those tech guards, Scourge gets gunned down in like 5 seconds and I'm dead shortly after that. I won't even try "Darker than Dark" in order not to waste money on repairs. What is it with this planet? It really sucks that Sentinels don't have a long lasting CC for organics, so I could kill them one after another.

Not speaking of Warren Sedoru in the class quest, who stomped me in a few seconds as well...

Am I doing something wrong or ist Voss just not soloable for combat specced Sentinels without high end gear?

You are right to feel cheated in no CC it sucks, but I remember the quest you mention, it's and if I remember correctly it's an Area2 quest, which means it is slightly harder for one person, especially a pure DPS class.

  10. Seriously?! People still do not understand the elevator system in game? Let me spell it out for you folks...again.

The elevators in game have specific purposes, you will notice three differing types, those that move slow, those that move fast, and those that are broken and stuck midway.

The fast elevators are for hardcore players, those people that feel the need to see what everyone else is doing, speed through the game as fast as possible, and ensure no one gets something faster than they do, raiders use fast elevators primarily.

Slow elevators, these are for the casual players, those folks that like to hang out and chill with friends, who arent worried about progression and really do not care what the person next to them is doing.

Broken elevators, these are for solo players exclusively, made for people that like challenges and dislike being shoved through content in groups or having their hands held in dungeons, the people take leaps of faith and seek adrenalin rushes by diving over the side of cliffs trying for the broken elevator, usually missing and having to heal, realizing they might have waited for one of the other two working elevators, still, bailing over the side of a cliff is such a rush.....the air time....the air time.....

Do not make me explain this mechanic again......

    How does that work again?

  11. anybody have sugesstions about what happens if you choose darkside decisions on republic quest

What do you mean what happens? You either get DS points or you don't. People react differently and if you get dark enough you'll get a nice looking facial texture but there isn't really anything major that will change story wise, just how people will react if your a douche all the time to them.

  12. Classes that have their own heals usually don't have a "cunning" healer unlike bounty hunters for example. "Cunning" healer companions seem to be more effective. There is also kolto immunity when you have received too much healing. My sith inquisitor uses his tank to killl golds and i keep him healed because i am better at healing. Healer classes should make a well geared tank companion, works for me.

What are you talking about? Almost every class minus Trooper has a cunning healer. Smuggler's has a cunning healer, so does Consular, Imperial Agent, Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior, and Sith Inquisitor.

  13. So its an rpg. Leave out the mmo and lets call it a day :D

Well WOW is an MMORPG, so is RIFT and D&DO and many others. They use RPG in the name as well as MMO, MMO just means massive multiplayer online game. Bioware just didn't want to be traditional to the MMORPG formula.

Not to say it was the best idea, but it's an idea and they decided to try it, for good or bad it is what it is.

  14. The light/dark is very double sided in this game. It has absolutely nothing to do a lot of the time as to whether it is morally right or wrong.

I really wish they would have left alignment choices either out of the game, or to serve no purpose other than Dark Side Corruption. The whole gear restriction has really make many people not be able to play a story the way they want to and make logical choices because if they did they would not end up viable in combat.

You can turn off the showing of ls/ds choices. the game will not tell you till you pick the choice which is which... granted you'll know top is good bottom bad more or less but it doesn't flat out tell you if you don't want it to.
