  1. I'm an old-fashioned mmo player, I've been playing mmos for a long time. I'm also a Star Wars fan, Old Republic was a great mix of the two. That's why I'm here. But personally, I think this new direction of SWTOR is just a big mess. They keep saying "Oh ya, all players really want nowadays is more story, more epicness". Really!!??

Do you really want all of Bioware's resources tied up for months & months to partake in a stream-lined, cut scene infested story arc that can be finished in an afternoon? You don't want any new pvp content? No new operations? Yes I realize these things "may be coming in the near future" but in the meantime this new storyline content just has no re-playability at all. How many times are you willing to follow Lana the "Jedi-wannabe sith" through a swamp? I've been told that this is what players really want and I find it hard to believe.

I think you are all confused, you want to sit around for 6 months at a time waiting for an afternoon's entertainment. Then you don't want an mmo, you want a MOVIE!! And great news, there's a Star Wars movie coming out in 2 months!! I'll see you all there but in the meantime I'd like my mmo back because this is not a mmo PC game, this is an advanced version of a read-along book. I used to read those when I was like 7 yrs old. "If you want to jump over the puddle turn to page 63. If you want to go around the puddle instead, then turn to page 89." Either way you're on the other side of the puddle!! Congratulations you finished Chapter 1 - The Puddle, now please wait patiently for 6 more months as we move on to Chapter 2 - The Hill.

    Come on people!!

Story was the reason I've been here since beta and the reason I stay. Everything else is secondary. This is my Star Wars adventure. Perhaps you should find a title that meets your needs. I recommend CoD.

  2. I'm curious about what's hot and what's not among the playerbase. I'd like to see a monthly metrics report that contains a chart of popular items such as:

    *Mounts

    *Weapons

    *Armor

    *Planets

*Was pve more popular than pvp during X month?

    Etc, etc

I see the obvious choices for many players but that doesn't cover the rest.

  3. We have many threads complaining about one sided matches where an experienced group of player killers trounces your pick up group.

Something about this I do not think people consider:

I met all of my partners in WZs, I am guilded with people I fought against as often as with.

I will also die to premades, and frequently. There are not always guild mates or friends to group with, and I will also step into a WZ being run by a premade team and get utterly demolished, have no chance of winning, whatever.

When you PVP a LOT, you die a LOT. It is not a big deal. Losing a wz is not a big deal.

Always focus on your own personal performance win or lose. Don't be that dummy running into 2 or 3 enemy or more by yourself dying over and over in a hyper gate and blame the premade team you were facing for you having no chance.

Play smart, pick your battles, play objectives. Call out inc, mark targets and call them out. Participate and be vocal.

You will make PVP allies and then even when you go in a PUG you have a good chance of being with someone you are on at least friendly terms with who will actively assist your WZ goals.

If you see a particular guild or person who is outstanding, ask if you can group with them and do a few runs with them. If you are not visibly terrible, chances are pretty good they will take you along and you can learn from them AND learn how they do things for the next time you compete.

It isn't worth getting bent out of shape. It is in YOUR hands to get better and make allies for your pvp endeavors.

Despite what some people say, not all the PVP element in this game are jerks, some of us just prefer the challenge that facing tough human opposition brings.

Just FYI: Serious PVP players don't get much enjoyment out of stomping PUGS with 25k life average. It is just as boring to us as it was to you.

We WANT more competition. We WANT more people to be BETTER. We WANT *you* to succeed in your PVP career because it means we have more people to play with and against who are skillful.

    That truth I promised?

PVP Premades are the same as you with more practice, far more deaths at the hands of other players and their own friends/guilds, and we *want you to be better*

Ask for a PVP group in general chat or form your own, if you dont have mumble or teamspeak or whatever, just get a designated main assist in your little group of four who everyone knows to kill the main assist's target.

(You DO have target of target window active, right?)

If you let the losses make you play angry you will never get better.

Be dispassionate. Be Spock-like. Don't be Rambo-like, you will just wind up dead a LOT.

The matching needs to be fixed. Pugs should be matched against other pugs. Valor, gear rating, etc used to match.

  4. Please leave your various complaints here instead of posting in every single thread you can. All your grievances, real or imagined, in one thread.

    Or..

You could do something original such as departing the message board for the game you utterly despise. Wishful thinking on my part.

    Ready, set, whine!

  5. There's nothing wrong with the normal progression xp. It's the pvp xp that's the problem. It needs to be reduced or taken out of the equation. No xp from pvp would give one plenty of incentive to progress through their story and side quests. I was kinda aggravated when I discovered I leveled past my current questing area because I did some pvp.

If no xp from pvp would be considered too harsh then throw an xp reduction buff on the vendors.

  6. * Hood-up / Hood-down option. (Being Addressed)

    * Roleplayer title. (There's lots of interesting ways one could earn this.)

    * Sit in chairs, lay down on a bed, and more object interaction in general.

    * Bio space on character sheet.

    * Tougher naming filters on Roleplay servers.

    * Mission terminals for generic missions that award credits, loot, etc. (Called Missives in other titles.)

    * Bounty hunting/smuggling mission terminals. ( Random NPC bounties and smuggling missions for any level.)

    * In-game web browser.

    * Direct transport to group. (Useful if your group is far away.)

    * Stats from Bioware. ( Most popular class, race, etc.)

    * Salon or refresher for making minor changes to appearance such as hairstyle, skin tone, etc.

  7. As a seven year SWG player I can tell you honestly that this game is nothing like SWG and never be a replacement for it.

But that is OK. It is not supposed to be. I am still playing it as of now and will be judging it on its own merits.

For my first month I have enjoyed facets of it, but really get the feeling that it is a solo game masquerading as an MMO.

The only game I could campare it to is Dragon Age.

So much of SWG centered around player interaction at a level no MMO has reached. As such TOR cannot be a repalcement for that kind of game play and if folks are looking for that here they will be dissappointed. Also, game players in general who are looking for something "revolutionary" will most likely be dissapointed as well.

I have not been playing long enough to make any final decisioons about the game but I am making a concerted effort to view it on its own and not through the prism of SWG or WoW or any other game.

That is a trap too many folks fall into.

Well-said. I'm playing and will play TOR for what TOR is, not what it isn't. If this game turned out to be SWG II then I would have been tremendously disappointed.

  8. YES! The bugs this game has are minor. I've been in a game that was so buggy it was unplayable. That game was Vanguard. Thankfully, Vanguard has been cleaned up considerably and I still play it. I stuck with Vanguard and I will definitely stick with TOR.

Most of the whining I've seen is unnecessary theatrics from people who expected a perfect game due to unrealistic expectations and/or not enough foresight to upgrade the components in their cpu or buy a new one. Years of pre-release information gave all of us a good idea what this game was going to be like. Stop ripping Bioware.

  9. Someone needs to have a look at the equipment commendation vendors because there are duplicate items on them. Same stats, looks, price, but different name. I just bought an Infiltrator helmet for my smuggler on Nar Shaadaa and it's exactly the same as the other helmet that a smuggler or agent would buy. I figured one would have more endurance or cunning depending on your class, but that wasn't the case.
