  1. AP and Shield tech are the only good DPS options in PvP right now

Next week, shield tech is being buffed and Pyro being nerfed hard

Take a guess based off this information

lol the fact that shield tech is a more viable dps option than pyro in pvp is hilarious. GG Bioware!

  2. If the ACs were balanced, one would expect 1/3 of the representatives of each AC to be amongst the top 1/3 of the leaderboards; and 1/3 of the representatives of each AC to be amongst the bottom 1/3. However, this is not the case. The calculated figures in brackets in the statistics below show the deviation p from this in %. The other figures have been extracted from the leaderboards.

[ Calculation of p for a class with a total of T representatives in the leaderboards

and N representatives in the top (or bottom) 1/3:

    p = (N - T/3)/N ]

    Guard / Jugg: 1486 in leaderboards | 407 in top 1/3 (-22% than expected) | 582 in bottom 1/3 (+15% than expected)

    Sent / Mara: .....578 in leaderboards | 122 in top 1/3 (-58% than expected) | 221 in bottom 1/3 (+13% than expected)

    Shad / Assa: ..1982 in leaderboards | 760 in top 1/3 (+13% than expected) | 676 in bottom 1/3 (+3% than expected)

    Sage / Sorc: ...2121 in leaderboards | 714 in top 1/3 (+1% than expected) | 682 in bottom 1/3 (-4% than expected)

    VG / PT: ..........1144 in leaderboards | 573 in top 1/3 (+33% than expected) | 265 in bottom 1/3 (-44% than expected)

    Com / Merc: .....714 in leaderboards | 180 in top 1/3 (-32% than expected) | 233 in bottom 1/3 (-2% than expected)

    Gun / Sniper: ...426 in leaderboards | 124 in top 1/3 (-15% than expected) | 142 in bottom 1/3 (0%, as expected)

    Scound / Op: ...939 in leaderboards | 250 in top 1/3 (-25% than expected) | 336 in bottom 1/3 (+7% than expected)

Interesting that Merc, Sniper and OP are underrepresented in the top 1/3, but not overrepresented in the lower 1/3. Meaning that it's hard for them to play on top, but that doesn't make the classes terribad for PvP.

Different story with Juggs and Maras who are underrepresented in the top 1/3 AND super-overrepresented in the bottom 1/3. These classes are really broken.

VG/PT are horribly OP. They play mainly in the top 1/3 and the class is so OP that hardly anybody gets stuck in the bottom 1/3.

Sorc looks in a good place and Assa is good represented in the top 1/3, but not underrepresented in the bottom 1/3, meaning that it's possible to rock with an Assa, but bads will still get stuck in the lower regions of the ranking.

Not sure if someone has asked this but could you do this for the last 3 season as well.

If we could compare the last 3 seasons to your stats from season 4 we could better see if the buffs PTs received in 3.0 have made it easier for them to perform well.

  3. That's not untrue because you we're here but never had the chance to que...granted you we're in our guild and we couldn't field a second team with you on it.and... YES I totally agree you would of qued but you never had a team so that's why I never brought it up. My post before is only going off of what did happen not what could of happen.

You are correct, I could never find people who were competent enough and wanted to queue. I hope the reason people are queuing is because you guys left. Either way like I said in my post good luck on ebon hawk. I hope you guys do well.

  4. Let's be honest here. The reason some of these teams are queing is the fact we're not around. There's no reason for us to come back to JC when we have other teams from harb coming over to ebon hawk to do 4s against us. As of right now, the only reason we would come back to jc if ebon hawk dies or a couple more teams other then ourselves end up transfer to jc. Unfortunately that's the truth and we ask around for months trying to get other to que against us when only resurgum would do it and ld-50 would if they could find someone to pug.

With all that being said, I wish jc pvp community the best of luck and hopefully we will see you guys queing another time, but not as of right now we're happy where we stand.

You can say that about the other teams but you know well enough that if I have a team I'm not afraid to queue against PM. Unfortunately, my season 1 team decided to play ESO and I went to pot5 to wait for wildstar during season 2. At the start of season 3 WAI queued up against PM before you guys left. I even ran a troll PT comp with a few of PM. The only reason I stopped fielding a team ,and I made you guys aware of, was because Hayward for a long time refused to run combat. By the time he did you guys had left.

I wish you guys luck on Ebon Hawk but that was a very blanket statement which in my case in untrue.

  5. See, that's what I mean. Hayward is awesome but I only see him in a war zone maybe like once a month :rak_02:

Again, I'm not saying there aren't good, really good, sents pubside. when I see them I'm thankful and work with them. would just like to see the average pug sents putting up more than 100k-200k per wz and know their class...

Like... Can a brotha get a trans when he has the ball or when we need to rotate to another node or at the start of a match? You would (or wouldn't) be suprised how many failsents don't do this in pugs.

All I'm saying in the end is pubs NEED to step it up and start bringin' blood'n'drama, peel for healers and others that need support.

The great maras: Ripper, prettiboi, jerryspringher, decimate, kid'icarus, odyssius, notaro and others... melt without support.

    Aspiring sents need to:

    A) Study your trees, abilities and DCDs and beat on a dummy in between wz.

    B) min/max power/surge unless watchman, throw some crit in there.

    C) get a Naga and Nostromo or at the very least keybind/mouse-turn

    D) Be persistent. Its a tough class to play well

    Veteran sents that turned Mara:

Come back to pubside. I promise you as long as I'm in wz, you will be peeled for weather I'm dps or tanking. You will not be shut down and left out to dry.

You see in this age of the galaxy I will be the one who brings balance to the force (or the one who makes a fool of himself on the JC forum)

You willing to peel for me on my vanguard or sents is the only thing that gets you up?

  6. When I say lacking, I don't mean that there are none, just not as many compared to impside. Which has many good marauders and many good mercs. Not saying that the ones who do play that I haven't specifically mentioned or missed are bad on pub side, it's just something I have noticed in general.

I.e. I believe that imps have a higher percentage of good mercs and Marauders in their player base than pubs do. That doesn't mean that there aren't good ones pubside, there are and I know most of them.

Both of those classes have a high skill cap to play well and are devestating if done so. Pubside would be benefited greately with more:

    A) players of these classes playing well.

    B) support being given these classes when they need it (applies to all classes but these two need more) so they can wreck face.

    And

    C) oh fuggit, you might as well throw healers in general into all the above. WE NEED MORE HEALERS! pst me if I'm in game I promise to tank and peel for you healers!:D come to pub side healers we love you!:D:D:D:sy_republic::sy_republic::sy_republic:

    /endminirant

Tsk Tsk wait until Hayward sees this....

  7. It's hard to keep a straight face when watching WoI talk down to stim addicts.

do you guys honestly think either of you fit into the qualifier "really high quality"

    or even "high quality"

or hell "quality" for that matter?

I'd say "bulk rate generic" PVP guilds would be the right category

like if I was making a PVP movie and I wanted faceless extras, I"d know where to find you guys for cheap and by the dozen

Yes, indeed. You guys would be well found in a thread entitled "Looking for a bulk rate generic republic pvp guild"

That said I'd recommend either of you guys to anybody looking for pub side pvp. I imagine you all have a lot of fun crushing pugs

So who are you and what guild do you belong to?

  8. Why are the forums so boring this season. I remember how fun season 1 used to be. Pillars +1 vs RG.

    Any teams q'ing season 3?

I remember a lot of teams said they wanted to queue. Where you guys at? You guys going to let teams win trade to number 1 again?

  9. Working as Intended has put up 2/3 teams so far. The comps have been less efficient than I would have wanted but nonetheless gg to all the teams queueing.

So far I've seen 2 Postmortem teams, Knights of Havoc with Stalker, and I heard Stim Addicts queued.

Will Working as Intended put on an official team? **cough** Raider **cough**

Will the former pillars of ashla peeps put on a team? **cough** Dany come back **cough

Will I find a permanent team? **cough** Fus come tank for me **cough**

Will Hayward ever give up smash and learn combat? **cough** smash too strong **cough**

All questions that need answering before the end of the season.

  10. I am a swtor player since launch. I took a 9 month break to play dota 2 for a while. I have been back for about 2-3 months on my scoundrel and I have not seen any pvp guilds on the republic side that really fit the bill talent wise. It seems they are on the imperial side. For a player that does not want to go to the imperial side do you guys recommend I transfer to a server with a better republic pvp base? Kinda stuck here maybe there is a guild out there I have not seen yet. I have not done any group ranked on the server yet so there definitely could be a guild I have not heard of yet. I look forward to any responses and hope for some helpful insight- Republic player Primos

Pvp guilds are irrelevant and have been since they got rid of 8v8 ranked. Ignore the guild tags and search for a few players that fit your bill talent wise. There are plenty of good pvpers in not so great guilds and vice versa.

Season 1 pubs seemed dominant and in season 2 its crystal clear the imps are. Maybe season 3 turns out to be return of the pubs?:rak_02:

  11. Which faction wins more 55 regs? has more skilled players?

How are the ranked pops currently?

Until Bioware releases stats on win/loss ratio for the factions, servers etc is will always boil down to speculation and perception.

On this server it depends on who is on at the time and what side they are on.

  12. Yup, I agree. Also, I cannot believe I am going say this, but lolus, you were right! I have played on JC a bit lately and I don't think that either side has an advantage. JC is probably to most balanced, as far as faction, out there. There are very good players on both sides. So, I will swallow my pride and take back a comment I made earlier, in another thread, that imps had advantage. I was wrong, that not true.

Happy hunting JC pvp'ers! I will be around from time to time.

You sir are a scholar and a gentleman.

But no need for all the pride swallowing. **you pervs insert joke here** But you were right, some nights these pugs (on both sides) will make you feel like the enemy team is full of allstars. In the end the server is pretty balanced and it all comes down to has the most premades that night imo.

    See you around

  13. that was last straw for banksy. waiting on ws. was pissed to get dismissed like that

They pretty much called an entire AC a bunch of whiny scrubs. Banksy was cool until that point. He pretty much raged and trolled every thread after that lol.

Sidenote: Cinerous is a troll but a pretty good player which is why I love him lol. Those sorcs over on pot5 are on a whole different lvl in terms of skills.

  14. ooo, my name was mentioned. 4v4 was happening and I wanted to play, but no one was online with RG. I knew that you had been one of the 4v4ers that Team Fus/Syl/poptarts/simple/sometimes cloud played against, so some yeah.. the Mighty RG Team will return. we have been trying to get some in guild practice times in and will hopefully be able to field a 2nd and/or 3rd team. Ya know.. when Sages become OP ;).

See you on the battlefield. Phear my pebbles

Yes your name was mentioned but not in a bad way. There was only one sage I would take into 4s on this server and they don't play anymore. No offense to you. You are pretty legit sage and I do fears those pebbles. :)

I was merely inquiring as why they didn't queue up when we did. He obviously knows the team we played. I wonder how?

Anyways, its always gg's when your around. See you on the battlefield.

  15. sort of. I guess it was a bad joke, cuz any joke you have to explain is a fail joke. the perception is if you're pve server, you're weak sauce or dodging "real" competition (see the trash talk that transfers dealt with on pot5).

the joke is that cin is back on pot5 cuz that's where the competition is (see your 43-1 record but sub 1650 rating cuz there's only one team that can even give you rating). so take that pvp server bias and then look at the comically bad insults that iolus and kodur were firing back and forth. I mean...the prior pages had some fairly cutting insults, but that one page was funny in how weak the insults were. it was like...hmm. here: http://imgur.com/5wKF3mW

kinda like the stereo-type of pve players matching the reality. look. I laughed. ok? :o

edit: there's no doubt regs are more difficult over on pot5 (or at least they were during first transfers). ID, IAL, PKers, it was rough. every imp team had 4 great carreriers or 8 ppl with the same tag. even the solo q'd imps could tunnel a healer better. maybe it was just a faction imbalance. iunno. but it definitely felt like a higher quality of pvp imo.

This made me chuckle. I'll take it as constructive criticism lol.

I'm with Cinerous in that the better pvpers and pvers are on the pvp server. Those guys are competing with top notch players unlike on pve servers. I would suggest to anyone going to pot5 that they don't take pubs. Its just not worth the hassle. There are some pubs that stand out but more often than not you'll see imp v imp matches.
