  1. Wow people are still complaining about faction balance?! BW cannot do anything about it. What do you want to have them do? "Sorry, you cannot have ANY empire characters on this server due to faction balance, please choose republic". Yeah, I can see the whining now.

     

    Nice that you focus on that one issue and ignore all the rest.

     

    ITs a problem, and it always will be in a 2 faction game. Is it Biowares fault? Yes, partly it is (for designing it in the first place, and not having any form of numbers control at any point, or any form of incentive to balance those servers that are heavily imbalanced such as rewards/buffs for the underdog).

     

    It is partly the playerbases fault too, and there have been some rerolls occasionally from well-meaning guilds.

     

    Does that mean we shouldnt highlight it as a problem/issue? Of course we should, as it degrades the quality of the game experience for many. Thats not 'complaining' as you put it, thats giving feedback about an issue.

     

    Bioware could, in fact, do something about it. I could make a list of many things from the trivial to the extreme.

  2. Im just wondering what they spent $200 million dollars on. SWTOR is basically a more linear, sub-standard WoW-in-Space.

     

    Crafting is shallow and feels like a bolt-on. Why doesnt crafting have some sort of skill tree system alongside the level one? more diverse recipes, schematics that are useful, more customisation choice (let crafters allocate stats on mods/enh with a certain amount of points to spend for example). Let players counter other peoples spec/role with clever gearing.

     

    Make crafting require mats from actual mobs rather than just nodes. Dont place nodes everywhere.

     

    PvP is shallow, and bolted on.

     

    PvE is the most linear, least satisfying ive played in a while. Ignoring the scripted quests its a big snoozefest to get to 'end-game'. which is dull and has very poor itemisation/drops for both FP and OP.

     

    There is very little customisation/individuality amongst toons (have a look at, say, commandos/vanguards stood on fleet = they all look 95% identical).

     

    No solo/small group achievements / exploration / things to 'do' (you can go pick up an egg every 4 hours!).

     

    No world PvP or any sort of PvP that has a lasting effect on the world or gives bonuses/rewards.

     

    Flawed 2 faction system, heavily dominated by Empire (generally). Why arent there 3+ factions? Hutts, Mercenaries, Pirates, Gamorrean, Space-ninja-dinosaurs? Give them the option to change allegiances via player-base driven requirement a la DAoC.

     

    Why arent there in-game minigames (excluding space 'combat'). We have Cantinas everywhere, make Pazaak playable between players/NPCs. Wheel of fortune, Poker, whatever = a better money sink than the artificial ones (look at real casinos as an example).

     

    Space combat could be improved, would have been better less linear but hey. Allow players to group for space missions (with new missions).

     

    Have some real-life, in-game support rather than just 'protocol droid' fob-offs.

     

    More random in-game events (Rakghoul plague was good for a few days), think back to UO and scripted invasions as well as non-scripted NPC invasions (with real people controllin/roleplaying the bad guys and good guy NPCs). They also dished out unique rewards for those who participated.

     

    Reward participation in PvE and PvP based off your contribution.

     

    Where are the epic quests ? where are the legendary rewards? why arent their hidden pirate treasure hoards on derelict spaceships that you can search for (like the smuggler storyline)? or forgotten tech to salvage on an old moon? or a deathstar to blow up?

     

    For $200 million dollars I would expect something better than what we have. A dev team that is inspired, and driven and cares.

    No, all MMOs arent like this (UO had roleplay and depth, DAoC had awesome 3 faction world PvP, WoW does SWTOR but better etc etc).

  3. I find it silly that people will have all their rated gear before rated wz are even in the game. Why not give us pve raid gear without having to raid?

     

     

    Your analogy is incorrect. You still have to PvP old style.

     

    The equivalent would be getting campaign gear from EV/KP.

    There is no economy.

     

    Maybe there would be if the 2 people exploiting spent some of this money buying things.

     

    It certainly isnt worthy of 4 hours downtime to patch a couple items sale price. (They could flag the offending items as unsellable then fix it on tuesday, as an example).

  5. You're just contradicting yourself. Just because someone loves the game and doesn't agree with you doesn't mean that their opinions aren't legitimate. To each their own right?

     

    Whether it's information you've heard before, or information you don't like to hear, there are people out there that won't agree with you but they are still entitled to their opinion.

     

    And to say because someone is a US player they don't need to post and that no one what we have to say just makes you ignorant. There are some US players affected as well, but hey they aren't European so who cares right?

    True, there might be a US player somewhere that plays at 3:30am.

     

    The point about US players is that they (generally) have it much better and therefore your opinion on EU/Oceanic downtimes isnt needed.

     

    Its like me commenting on how much rice the average person gets to get ina a village in N.Korea on a forum for people from that village. Whilst i sit eating a 10Kg bag of rice.

  6. People are posting legitimate complaints with the downtime and how it affects them/impacts on them. I personally play between 0730 BST and 1300 BST due to my shift pattern, and there are plenty of others that have similar issues.

     

    I dont mind losing a Tuesday or the occasional other day, so long as that other day is for something critical or gamebreaking. But its not. take a look at the Patchnotes.

  7. I think it's hilarious that people are saying that Sents/Maras are suddenly the FOTM class.

     

    The only changes BioWare done since release...

    - fixed burn damage (which I hear actually reduced the damage)

    - fixed Dispatch (making it comparable to other classes execute ability)

    - tweaked Ataru Form hits

    - buffed Master Strike

    - made tweaks to Watchman tree with actually nerfed that build somewhat

    - other minor tweaks/adjustments - nothing drastic

     

    Lol, way to underrepresent what actually happened. Look at your short list, now look below for the ACTUAL patch notes. Ill even highlight the obvious buffs in green for you. Its a much bigger list than you want people to realise.

    Sith Warrior

     


    • General
    • Disruption no longer costs Rage to activate.
    • Force Charge now places a "root" visual effect on the affected target.
    • Intimidating Roar no longer costs Rage to activate.
    • Ravage can no longer be interrupted, and its damage has been increased by approximately 15%.
    • Vicious Throw can now be used on targets at or below 30% of maximum health (up from 20%).
      Marauder
    • Due to changes to the Marauder skill trees, Marauders have had their skill points refunded.
    • Berserk (while in Ataru Form) now additionally reduces the Rage cost and global cooldown of Sweeping Slash.
    • Deadly Throw's "Trauma" effect can no longer be cleansed.
    • Force Camouflage now additionally reduces all damage taken by 50% while active.
    • Obfuscate no longer has a Rage cost and is no longer limited by the global cooldown.
    • Predation now affects all Operation Group members.
      Carnage
    • Ataru Form damage effects (procs) now deal weapon-based damage instead of Force-based damage. The overall damage of these effects has been increased by approximately 10%. (although i accept the damage-type change could be considered a nerf)
    • Ataru Form now correctly triggers when fighting very large targets.
    • Erupting Fury has been replaced by Stagger, which increases Force Charge's immobilize effect.
    • Unbound now additionally increases the movement speed bonus granted by Predation by 15% per point.
      Annihilation
    • Ferocity has been replaced by Enraged Charge, which increases the Rage generated by Force Charge.
    • Phantom no longer grants damage reduction while Force Camouflage is active. It now increases the duration of Force Camouflage by 1 second per point and increases the movement speed bonus of Force Camouflage by 10% per point.
    • Seeping Wound now applies a 50% movement speed reduction (up from 30%).
    • Short Fuse is now located in Tier 1 of the skill tree and has replaced Quick Recovery.
      Rage (Marauder)
    • Decimate is now located in Tier 1 of the Rage skill tree. It increases the damage dealt by Smash and Sweeping Slash and reduces the cooldown of Smash.
    • Dominate is now a 3-point skill with the same overall effect. The effect now lasts 20 seconds (up from 15).
    • Force Alacrity has been replaced by Overpower, which allows Vicious Slash critical hits to have a chance to refund 2 points of Rage while the Marauder is in Shii-Cho Form.
    • Force Crush's cooldown has been reduced to 18 seconds. Its overall effect is unchanged.
    • Gravity now specifically affects Crippling Slash and Force Crush.
    • Obliterate now immobilizes the target for 1 second.
    • Ravager now increases the damage of Ravage instead of affecting Force Choke.
    • Relentless Fury has been replaced by Berserker. It requires 2 points in Shockwave and causes Berserk (while in Shii-Cho Form) to immediately grant 2 stacks of Shockwave per point.
    • Shockwave's buff effects now last 20 seconds (up from 15).
    • Unbreakable Rage has been removed from the game.

     

    Not to mention the changes to Master Strike etc.

  8. You do know thats a neutral GTN right? The thing no one uses...

     

     

    No one uses it YET, once a decent amount of folks purchase it it would be better than the same-faction one. Also, you can use it to transfer money/cash from your rep toons to your imp toons from the Ship - instead of messing around with the one in NS.

     

    Which is actually quite useful.

    Corrected an issue that prevented players from adding offline players to their friends list.

     

    Miscellaneous Bug Fixes

     

    An issue that prevented players from logging out of the game if the ESC button was used to close the logout window has been addressed.

     

    Some nice quality improvements -assuming they are indeed fixed ;)

  11. Aye, it's back to being a fun way to level again.

     

    Top tip though, you can start saving ranked WZ comms from valor 40 (which should also be lvl40). So if you play a lot of Pvp to level you can have enough tokens for a couple WH pieces as soon as you hit 50.

     

    I currently have 1000 merc comms, 1600 wz comms and 1900 ranked WZ comms @ level 44.

  12. Why stop at removing gear? Why not make all classes the same, with the same skills, no talent points and the same health pool. No random numbers, everyone does 1 dmg per GCD and has 5 hp. No one can heal. Remove all defensive abilities and cooldowns. Everyones latency is set to 400ms so no one has a connection advantage. No keyboards can be used so noone can have better or quicker keybinds. Mouse clicking only so no one with faster reflexes can have a faster-reflex crutch - after all someone who grinded through games for 10 years generally has faster reflexes than a 12 year old playing his first mmo.

     

    UI must revert to defaults so everyone is the same. Everyone should have the same gaming chair as it isn't fair that someone who has more money has a better chair.

     

    You guys are ridiculous whiners who wouldn't play any MMO where half your stupid, idiotic, lame, cry-baby ideas were implemented. You aren't special, you're not more 'skilled' than everyone else.

  13. Maras don't really dominate in 1-49 pvp except against bad players in bad gear.

     

    I play a lot of 1-49 pvp with my heal spec scoundrel and can survive quite happily against one almost indefinitely. I even had a fun time kiting 2 maras and a dps spec assassin around huttball for a while until my team finally turned up and pewpewed them to death.

     

    I take a bit of time and effort making sure I don't have poop gear, and I'm pretty good at my class having taking the time to learn it also (I have 2 level 50s already, one of which is valor 68).

     

    I'm not after applause or an ego rub, however maras/sents really aren't all that amazing. Perhaps the only thing I'd have changed tho is undying rage - I reckon it should make them immune to heals for 8-10 secs so peeps can't pop it at 2k hp then insta medpac and would make it a last gasp type ability rather than an iwin button (particularly in 1v1s).

Sounds like you've been pvping at 50 for at least 2-3 weeks ( i imagine its more tho) so no reason at all why you don't have a few BM pieces by now, and if you even played a moderate amount of games you should have half to full BM. For all the parts you're missing, replace with recruit.

     

    Not really sure what your issue is ( oh, and they changed losing comms again so you get billions even if you lose AND you only need 1 medal).
