    What? you make a thread called this and then say you dont chain pull HM LI and OPs? i think your not championing your own cause enough :) LI can be chain pulled for fun (other than those perma stun droids) and OP trash is so trashy it makes other games trash look like boss mobs.

  2. its to the point you will never get a group...ever. ive recently decided to level a new character atm its level 36. i sat on balmorra for 3 days just to see about a group for 1 of the 8 quests that required 4 players..i didnt get a single person to join finally after convincing 3 players that they wanted to do these they asked me to share...none of the quests were sharable. im asking please nerf these to needing only 2 players or even better make them soloable. but sitting in my quest log until there grey isnt working.

     

    How about you skip or abandon them, pretent that some random NPC never asked you to go save his lovable kitten, pixie, while on your sith assassin. Leave the content for the people who do have groups. Why does everyone feel they have to do every quest and if they cant spoil them for everyone else!!?!?! the entitlement generation indeed.....

  3. Everything I hear about marauders nowadays is that they are unkillable and uncounterable tanks that 2 shot everything with ravage and are unbeatable in 1v1 and so on. So I feel like I should clear up some of these "myths".

     

    Myth #1- Marauders are the best 1v1 class.

     

    I'll start by saying. NOPE. In fact marauders actually lose to A LOT of classes 1v1. I will list the classes that will beat marauders given equal gear and skill.

     

    Tankassins

    DPS operatives

    Snipers

    Vigilance Juggernauts

     

    Those are 4/7 of the other classes that when played correctly will beat a marauder in 1v1. Other classes are either stalemates or in the marauders favor. Most notably Marauders have a very large advantage against Mercenaries and Sorcerers. This is probably the biggest reason marauders are catching so much hate. They counter the two most popular classes played.

     

     

    Myth #2 - Marauders are harder to kill than tanks.

     

    Again. NOPE. To prove this just have a marauder try to carrying the huttball with 2-3 healers behind him. He will die in <30 seconds from 6+ dps simply because his defenses are very temporary. Now take a Tank Juggernaut with 2-3 healers behind him. He can /dance for hours with 6 dps hitting him(especially if they are marauders who have to deal with their shields unlike most classes)

     

    Also god forbid a pure melee class with 0 frontloaded damage and minimal CC isn't easily focus fired and killed for 12 seconds if they burn their 3 min CD defense.

     

     

    Myth #3 - Marauders are unstoppable in Group PVP.

     

    Surprise. NOPE. To start with marauders get absolutely destroyed by Snipers in group pvp. The fact that their aren't many is a problem, but not a reason to nerf Marauders. Secondly Marauders do exceedingly well against Arsenal Mercs and Sorcerers. The fact is there are A LOT sorcerers and mercs running around and so Marauders tend to do very well against these teams. Marauders also don't handle any kind of Tank well at all in PVP due to the majority of their damage being mitigated by Shields.

     

    So basically marauders counter the most popular classes while being countered themselves by the least popular class. Solution? Find a few good snipers to PVP with, or better yet stop playing a sorcerer/trooper and reroll Sniper if you want to win vs marauders easily. It will fix the population imbalance AND help counter marauders. So basically like the other 99% of things complained about on the forums "There are counters to the problem that you should be using instead of trying to nerf everything that has an advantage over you. If you don't know what they are then ask someone who does know.".

     

    Myth #4- Marauders are finally topping "Damage Done" in WZs

     

    NOP......Actually this isn't a myth. Marauders are now actually competing for the top dps slot along with classes like Sorcerers/Pyrotechs/Snipers. I don't really see how this is a problem though. 99% of marauders rolled the class because they wanted to do the most damage in the game. They decided it was worth sacrificing the option to ever tank, or to heal, or to have gaurd/taunt, or to have a pull/knockback, or having good CC, or to have any ranged abilities. So basically you have a class that sacrifices basically EVERYTHING just to have top spot for damage dealing. So now that they actually are competing for that top spot people are complaining about it?

    Myth #5- Marauders are unkiteable.

     

    In a 1v1 battle I will agree that it is very difficult to impossible for most classes to kite a well played marauder for very long and this is fine(However a hybrid Sorc or Sniper can do a VERY good job of kiting 1v1). However in a group setting where you have 2-3 ranged classes with aoe knockback+roots on ~30s CD it happens quite a bit. Marauders have no real way to remain in melee combat with 3 snipers/sorcerers that chain JUST their aoe knockbacks. Now currently this is almost never seen in the current unorganized mess of PVP we have going on right now, but it does in fact happen with some regularity where a marauder is overwhelmed by soft CC like knockback/roots and is unable to even do ANY damage. All the ledges in many of the WZs and the fact that roots are not affected by resolve does not help at all.

     

     

    So the next time you are making a post about how Overpowered Marauders are. Please don't over exaggerated about how a marauder is some kind of unstoppable force of nature with no counters, because that just isn't true. Are marauders in need of a few tweaks here and there? I don't know actually because like 99% of the people on these forums I am not in a position to judge something as complex as MMO class balance. But if you must argue for or against marauder nerfs please try to base it on something more substantial than "OMG marauders counter everything and there is an 8 man premade of marauders that beats everything"

     

    Edit- Apparently most of the anti-Marauder, or maybe I should say Anti-FOTM, crowd didn't even bother to read the last sentence, but I will say I did actually enjoy the "I win all 1v3s on my Marauder! enjoy the nerfs to your OP class" post. Well carry on everyone.

     

    TLDR- NOPE.

     

    Myth #6- Marauders wont make stuff up to try to protect the OP class

     

    Marauders arent OP the people that use them are just all better than anyoen else. Even if you have several 50s. When you play your marauder you actually do play better than on your other classes as they make you more skilled.

  4. I'm sticking with OP on this one, working my 4th char to 50 because i love the game and i'm one of those "achievement" a-holes who wants to unlock and explore everything in the game.

     

    Does not matter much if i am riding a 90% or 100% speeder while leveling, i will get knocked down.

    All of you "smart" people saying stuff like "well if you don't like getting knocked off, just avoid the mobs" can stop right there because there are often a pack or two locking you down and there is NO way around them:)

     

    Sometimes a person might just want to get past a certain area and get down to business without fighting the whole damn world.

     

    I really cant see that problem with this. I cant think of any areas where traveling to the quest area i couldnt avoid almost all the mobs other than when the quest is at the end of a cave.

     

    If it really bothers you that much roll a stealth character

  5. There's always a catch. The 30 days isn't actually free- you get 60 days when you are charged your next billing cycle. They wanted to make sure they got at least 1 more month subs out of everyone.

     

    If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

     

    This isnt strictly true. If you canceled your sub before you where billed (if billing date before the 25th) for the coming month then you would still get the 30 days. But yeah for anyone that didnt its more like get 60 days for the price of 30 as the free month was added onto the end of the next billing cycle

  6. The 30 days free game time is a delay tactic they are using to delay subscription loss and thusly delay the need to report subscription loss to investors.

    first person i have seen say this and why i think the 30 free days have been given. Jan was the last release to investors so May will be the next one. Strangely lots of people where given a 30 days sub thats going to last until near the end of may so they can have a press release saying "1.89 million active accounts" giving them another 1/4 to get numbers up.

  7. This is the problem. People have no clue how to counter a mara, and just whine on the forums. For snipers, they say los, leap to someone else to close the gap, etc. About mara, the average monkey says they are hard to beat, godmode, etc.

     

    And if one mara takes 3 out of 5 and he is solo, buy the recruit gear. Its blue, but trust me, its better than your level 40 purples.

     

    All things being equal(gear level, experience level, stim and medpack usage)

    Pt =mara

    Sniper > mara

    Dps sin = mara

    Tanksin > mara

    Tank jug > mara

    Op >= mara

     

    Tanks have the cc and avoidance to beat maras. Tank classes have the taunts to fubar mara damage. Burst classes can bring the same amount of pain. However, people are used to the bad marauders, that still can only break 150k, and never bothered to learn the counters. Now that bad marauders are decent in 1v1, and the good ones(can be counted on one hand per server) are beasts that need to be taken down by smart cd and cc usage, people cry foul.

     

    HAHAHAHAHAHA. If you actually believe that, instead of trying to protect the OP class you play then you are a *********** retard.

     

    The class is OP, once you get some decent gear, its faceroll easy as long as you can wsad towards your target.

    Have you actually tried tera? I have and the engine can easily, and i do mean easily, handle fights with 100 v 100. Been in them and there was zero lag and no drop in frame rate that was noticible, above that (approx) number i start to see some slow down but i havent seen it unplayable yet.

     

    Compare to SWTOR that grinds to a halt if more than 8 people are in the same spot. Its engine is 100 times better than the hero BS that swtor uses.

    So pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back in and try harder... you suffer no repair bills for PVP loses... so why should you get rewarded for loosing....

    Yes losing should be rewarded in an MMO because basically time = money. Less commendation is fine and i agree with that, however money should be equal

  10. Over promising and under delivering seems to really be a trend with Bioware.

     

    any of you former AoC players get the feeling that history is repeating itself in front of our very eyes with SWTOR?

     

    The management, PR and sales folk from funcom probably work for bioware or EA now - having used the 'success' at funcom to highlight why they would be great in this job.

  11. You're entire post is a joke...

     

    The UI overhaul is a MASSIVE improvement. Its leagues beyond what other games have out of the box and it competes easily with custom UIs in other games.

     

    The only things you are complaining about are the few things YOU wanted to use in a UI. Sorry to burst your bubble pal but the UI changes weren't made to just suit you. The truth of the matter is the UI suits 90% of the population and I am sure the other 10% are getting along just fine.

     

    I don't need any of the stuff you mentioned though I can't wait to get in there and move some stuff around.

     

    You people are the angriest bunch of "me first" entitled gamers I have ever seen.

     

    Ever since WoW allowed custom UIs you think every single developer has to include all the features of the custom UI that you like.

     

    Well, it doesn't. Get Over It.

     

    No. Everything he complained about would be very useful in a UI. UI that players of WoW made many years ago and refined and HERE IS THE IMPORTANT BIT loads of other player went out of their way to find, DL and use.

     

    So their brand new UI revamp doesnt even cover the basic as the post you quted states.

  12. They do not have the technology to have a server farm for a complex MMO game. Maybe for google search sites yes, but not for a full blown MMO game.

     

    Sure they do, many other games do it. One server for everyone and then shard it. Since the game has massive use of shards anyway i dont see what problem it would cause - its not like it will make the world feel any less like an open world because its already all sharded and phased to hell and back. You are running the same amount of shards and it also becomes much more scalable, add in and turn server on/off as needed to save costs.

     

    Its also not an Engine problem as there are other Hero Engine games that use this method.

     

    Seperate servers is an idea from 1999 that they copied from WOW. Like most of the rest of the game, its a real shame the devs didnt look at other games to rip their ideas from.

    They are simply reducing the bottleneck on gear, where you get owned for 100 matches because you dont have the gear.

     

    If you feel you are losing something, then you where pvping to grind gear not pvping to have fun. If you where pvping to grind gear then guess what - the warhero lets you continue grinding gear!! woohooo \o/

  14. You will never see ANY OWPvP in SWTOR.

     

    They didnt want it in, they made some sort of half hearted and **** effort with ilum, they gave up right away as it would take time to fix and this game has no pvp aspirations.

     

    If you are playnig this game waiting for OwPvP then you will be disappointed.

    Mez works always if the target doesn´t take damage learn your class.

     

     

    The only useful pvp damage spec uses DOTs - without them you damage is pretty gimped. So mez are of no use to a sorc other than to hold of a second opponent.

     

    Trooper damage, single target, burst, sustained and AOE, dwarfs that which a sorc put out.

  16. Because at level 28 I just don't see it.

     

    I know, I know, not level 50, but with so many people in the past complaining about this Advanced Class you'd think that even at low levels we could faceroll, but this isn't the case.

     

    Our main heal is a 2.5 second cast, which is easily interruptible by almost anyone.

     

    Our damage is sub-par.

     

    Our CC is good and that's what I enjoy about the class combined with the hybrid DPS/healer aspect, but there's not a single melee class at this level that has a problem sticking on top of us.

     

    I can see that rock/lightning spam is annoying but so is tracer missile spam among other things. Being constantly slowed really not even that big of an issue given the gap closers and disables in the game presently.

     

    Being ganked by three sorcs/sages is annoying/bad/whatever, but so is being ganked by three of anything, and I don't know about you but I'd rather be ganked by three of us than almost any other class, but maybe that's just me. Our burst damage isn't that scary and our slow is nothing more than an annoyance.

     

    I understand that now people are properly geared lvl 50 sorcs/sages are nothing to be concerned about in any overpowering now, or so a lot of people tell me.

     

    So why do people say that Sorcs/Sages are overpowered?

     

    And with the nerfs coming in 1.2, is it worth levelling to 50? I'm not totally interested in PvP, I like to PvE as well, but I'm having a whole lot of fun of my BH so just wondering if I'd be better off levelling that instead? I also enjoy the stealth/healer concept and gameplay on my smuggler so maybe I might level that for my PvP and PvE healer instead of my sage.

     

    People complain because sorc/saga can get away. Think about the average dumb human MMO player. The most frustrating thing for them is beating on someone getting them to 1/4 health then they run off or vanish with stealth.

     

    The amount of rage i have heard about this dwarfs all other rage.

     

    Which two classes got the massive nerfs first and the ones people cried about most? thats right the ones that have stealth and/or other escape methods (nevermind if you have half a brain and actually think what your doing instead of mashing button its easy to stop a stealther or sorc) However people like to complain before using a brain.

    No they dont. All they do is highlight game breaking flaws in the design first. So really its the devs and lack of testing that ruin MMOs (generally the fault of the publisher desperate to get it released). Lets get the blame on the right people.

  18. Completely ignored everything else you had to say after that. I rolled PT to play a TANK, not some glorified dps class. Which is another issue entirely which is ruining the game.

     

    Then shut up and accept your class running around in tank gear will have a tiny little bit more suvivbility but total useless damage and doesnt really have a role in PvP unles you wear DPS gear.

     

    If there is a viable solution but you wont accept it then the problem is with you.

  19. I dunno what u thinking about, but when my sniper get jumped by geared darkness assasin wearing DPS items, it is no real difference with being jumperd by geared operative.

     

    Oh yeah, darkness assasin does not need to stunlock me, he just melt me during his CC immunity.

     

    Why u really think they can not kill things quickly if they actually can?

     

    They dont have CC immunity;

     

    they have interupt immunity on their force lightning - you can still KB or stun

    they have a defensive CD that gives them between 3-5 second immunity to tech and force attacks (many CC is tech or force true)

     

    Its jsut a case of using the right CC at the right time
