  1. The server merges that may have caused your chars to vanish were in 2012. You could try to open a ticket, CS should sitill be able to restore these chars. They may have old stuff (armor shells, crafting schematics) you can't get anymore.

Anyway, with 5+ years after you last played it's a bit hard to list everything that is new for you. I'd treat SWTOR just like a new game if I were you.

    Some major changes were:

    • Skill trees were removed, you no longer distribute skillpoints on levelup but automatically proceed on your "discipline path" and pick from a selection utilities for customisation.

    • Level sync: You level much faster now, but can no longer completely outlevel a planet to the point where mobs can't even hit you. You are scaled down (health and damage/healing) to the planet's max level +2, and still gain XP appropriate to your true level. (you can level to 70 on the starter planet if you want to)

    • Companions no longer require gear but are powered by influence instead (and they are very powerful) you also can now choose whether they should be tank, dps or healer and can use the companion you like instead of the one who compliments your character's role.

    • There are tons of other changes of course, like the addition of starfighter PVP and housing

For info on the game, Dulfy.net is still up and kicking. Tor Fashion and Tor Decorating cover your space-barbie needs, and

has excellent video-guides for new (and returning) players.

    And... Welcome back!

Thank you very much for your reply. Some great info there and some nice changes it seems with companions.

  2. I am back after a long absence. This game used to be a bit gimped with multi-core CPUs due to the game engine. I dont have an amazing system to game on so looking at ways to eek out as much performance as possible.

Setting CPU affinity used to be a thing, due to the multi-core issues. Is this still a recommended tweak?

    Cheers

  3. Hi All,

Have decided to sub as I need to scratch my SWTOR itch once again. I played game on/off since launch. For some reason I have no characters so will be proper starting from scratch. This is okay as I plan to do the class stories as I never did them all before.

So, with that said. Can anyone point me to somewhere which covers the big changes this game has gone through? I know about the expansions but anything else such as professions (are they still viable to make money on GTN) and that kind of thing would be appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  4. I have decided to un-sub (again) but not for purely negative reasons.

Shadow of Revan was outstanding and I think it is among the best content / story BW has ever done. Sadly it was very short but it felt intense all the way through and I commend BW for a masterpiece. I also really enjoyed doing other class stories via the 12x XP boost and would definitely come back for more of that. However, now that I have played through SoR, I don't have much to play for as the story is the biggest part for me. I liked the solo Flashpoints which allowed me to experience the Forged Alliances story and the SoR content, it was executed very well.

I planned going through all of the old worlds and complete planet missions I missed 3 years ago when levelling my marauder and to also do as many achievements as possible but the game still feels very choppy and it is affecting my enjoyment of the game. Lag, frame skipping and ability delay seem as bad as ever. I tried playing through it as best I could but without something like a good storyline to keep me engaged, I am not having as much fun. The technicial issues are the biggest reason for me leaving though, it feels like I am constantly fighting with the game and I cannot justify the monthly fee for that kind of experience.

I really hope BW can come to resolve this and I hope EA give you the funds to make it happen because this game is amazing. I am also very keen to see where the story goes from here so I will definitely be back. For now though, the money for the sub can't justify what I am doing in-game atm with the added issues.

I wish you all the best.

    Cheers

  5. I just finished the story on my Marauder and have to say, I have been completely blown away. The quality of the story was top drawer. This was as good as any class storyline, it was amazing. I have a fondness for Revan due to my KOTOR roots but I have to say, bravo BW, bravo.

I cannot wait to see the next instalment, that was just amazing.

  6. I too am really enjoying the expansion, Rishi was amazing, I really did love it and I am feeling excited about finishing work so i can go home and play SWTOR. The class mission was also very exciting, as soon as the holo call came through I dropped everything and ran to complete it, it was just so very fast, that it left me feeling dissapointed that they couldnt have made it a little longer.

I hope this means there will be more, regular class missions in future.

  7. You're in for a disappointment, they said only 1 new class quest per class.

That was like half a mission. Surely it cant be: Talk to a guy, kill some stuff, talk to a guy, done!

I wasn't expcting it to be as long or detailed as vanilla SWTOR but I was expecting more than that. Very dissapointing BW. Revan+Class Mission+XP boost were all of the reasons I returned. I am still enjoying the expansion so far but we really do need that mission flehsed out a little bit more.

  8. Simply awesome. Loved every bit of it. The missions, the theme, the story, all of it was class. I wish we had more interaction with the natives though, and possibly a companion.

I hope my class mission continues on Yavin 4 because if not, i'd say the Sith Warrior class mission was very intriguing and id be very disappointed if that is all it was.

  9. I came back a few weeks ago for these two reasons. Haven't had the opportunity to check out the expansion yet, but I took huge advantage of the 12xp boost by max-leveling two Republic characters and reaching level 30 on a third. Being able to go through the story in a continuous fashion, rather than start-stop-start, has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the game. I was sad to see it end.

I came back briefly last year for Starfighter and didn't enjoy it, but will give it a go again with my brother who's basically an ace pilot. Since that time Strongholds was released and I've been supremely impressed with its depth, breadth, and customizability. I have a Nar Shada abode, and will soon add Dromund Kaas and Coruscant once they go on sale for 3 cr.

While I wait for the 9th, I've been dumping companion gifts on to my army of companions, getting the most important companions to max rep.

The game has really expanded and there's clearly a lot of meat to chew on for a while. I'm still no fan of the majority of armor outfits, however. Most look just goofy, but there are a few gems here and there that don't cost a bajillion credits. I see a lot of stuff locked behind reputation vendors, and though I haven't explored exactly how to get the necessary rep, I have a feeling it'll be a grind. Fortunately, rep is credited from every character in your legacy, so it may not be too bad.

All-in-all, my impressions have been highly positive. The fact that I haven't played in a long while should ease my transition to the new disciplines system. I look forward to at least a few good months of play, if not longer.

Excellent post Gronzi, I feel much the same.

  10. Agreed. They did a good job of that. I hope they do something more with Manaan though. I noticed that where the vendor is there is a locked door. Out of curiosity a friend and myself got on top of the building and managed to 'fall' into that room. It is fully developed with a sub and everything. So hopefully they do something with it :3

That's exciting, I hope to see more. I was also hoping they would allow us to swim. When i fIrst went to Manaan I jumped into the water to see what would happen and fell to my death, through the world. Kind of breaks the illusion a bit...lol

  11. 12x XP was the reason I came back, well, that and Revan expansion but the 12x XP definitely sealed the deal for me. I don't have a lot of time to play and CBA going through all of the side missions again to level up. The XP boost allows me to experience one of the best thigns about this game, class story.
  12. Ya know I thought that but wasn't sure if it just looked similar. I can remember force persuading Zaalbar to kill Mission at that very spot, and Carth run away up the hill and around the corner :)

Was amazing to see it all again, they did an outstanding job. Sometimes I think level design in SWTOR can be quite biased to one types of colour/tone, for example Nar Shadda feels permananetly blue/purple and starts to feel bland after a while, and other areas had the same sort of feeling to me but Rakata Prime is bursting with colours that contrast really well. It looks gorgeous.

  13. No wanted to know if disciplins was as bad, but discipline while killing off hybrid is fine.

It is all the other nerfs and scaling that mess up the game, aside from BUGS LAG....

And rotten Beta tester feeling, I thought they had a closed beta.

To test the bugs? Lmao again fail beta testers as normal.

What happened to Q.A ? I guess budget cut again? What happened to customer service?

    Guess fired again?

I guess end deal well it is EA after all, to lmao I paid again 2 months without playing for this crap !

So you came back to see how bad the new skill tree was?

    Thats umm...interesting.

  14. As the subject states. going from 50 to 55 is tied to having the RotHC expac.

So why wasn't this done for SoR?

Since I didn't buy the SoR expac I'm gonna be out leveled already whenever I do decide to buy it. .making it less of a challenge.

Subscribers automatically get Hutt Cartel expansion. Although pre-ordering Revan stated you get RotHC as a perk, this was alreayd the case for subsribers and was misleading IMO.

  15. I came back a couple of months ago, specifically for the Revan expansion. I have been away from the game for a couple of years but this game has always been about Revan for me and I am really excited that BW are bringing him back.

The 12x XP to class missions was the cherry on the cake, it allowed me to blast through several stories, including the amazing Imperial Agent story. Alexander Freed is a master at SW storytelling.

I am interested in hearing from others who came back purely because of this and how you think the game is doing atm. I am really glad I came back, I am loving it. Still see some old bugs though, such as ability delay and lag but it is manageable. The game is still immense IMO.

  16. The thing with me is the ability doesnt catch up. When you do Vicious Slash, the animation, as you may know shows the sabers swinging overhead. What happens with me is that the animation gets about 50% of the way through (so the sabers are overhead) and then the whole thing resets and starts over. Sometimes it can reset like this 2-3 times before it exectutes.
