  1. Not really if you want to feel like a raid tank which in my oppinion is all about stability. Your effective health (used in normal tanking terms) is abysmal compared to any other tank. Not by this saying that your mean mitigation will suck.

You and 'your healers' do not raid in this game if you claim that the most spiky, rng based tank is the one healer can leave unattended more compared to the other tanks. By this not saying sins need more healing.

You are also basically screwed in the long run because self healing is almost static which leads to pvp whine since incomming damage is alot lower than in 16 man hm ec and therefor your effective gain in mitigation is OP in the first place and will suck in the later. If they ever make it work in one it will inevitably make it not work in the other. Great design BioWare! Now go and use your 'targets' and tune it some more and pretend it can even be done with that fail design.

Also no tank 'feel' like a tank even with end game gear in a normal mode flashpoint. You are tossed around like a ragdoll and in other fights (for example stormcaller) you are just a focal point for heal since nothing you do, or what gear you have, really matters.

Were raiding EC HM regularly and they almost every time say Assassin is the easiest tank to heal.

  2. Assassin tank is the best tank IMO, problem is, hes quite weak in the early levels, because on early lvls you tank with your armor mitigation, which assassin doesnt have that high. When you get on the higher levels, youll get +20% shield buff, some absorbtion buff. You will basically have the highest avoidance of all tanks + you will HEAL yourself, which makes up for the missing armor mitigation. Weve raided through all the content and our healers say that its really easy to heal Assassin, hell they can even leave him for a few seconds without heal.....
  3. Not too fond of having to rely even more on crit its bad enough if u get a bad string of your heavy hitters not critting, but its also bad that we will have to stack even more crit, that means less power and the chance to do even less damage.

But its not the worst idea, i still just prefer having a standard bleed dot from some of our specials.

Problem is, Deception is specc that IS about crits and I dont mind the idea, I actually like it. Problem is big crits are not enough to make viable dps, you need something that will fill the time when youre NOT criting. ANd thats exactly what this idea of DoT scaling off crit is. It would tick long enough to wait for another crit.(I have 36% crit buffed(300 rating) myself and I crit quite often. So I think I would have something near to 100% uptime of this DoT).

  4. I HATE dot builds with a passion, but vengence jugger doesnt feel like a dot build because you use your normal rotations and direct damage attacks for the main of your damage it just adds a DOT. The playstyle is very melee orriented and much like i would prefer deception to be. We are looking for more damage while still maintaining our playstyle.

Madness is boring crappy spec in my world playwise.

Maul would be a perfect special to add a bleed effect too only seems logical to me, maybe make it only apply a dot when u have the proc up for it.

I am not disagreeing with the other suggestions but there is no need to make up new ideas when some of our other classes have something that makes perfect sense to add again just my opinion

But the Idea we say here would be just like jugger, but the DoT would just add when crit happens and would be scaled off the crits damage. There would be no NEW SKILL that adds DoT. So we would keep our playstyle we all love AND would be viable for raid dps.

  5. just play madness if you want dot based builds.

deception NEEDS an ignite like effect. with all the crit deception needs, the spillover crit damage should be combined and applied over 4-6 seconds. this way we get a somewhat subtle dps increase without making us dependant on a specific dot we need to cast, or making our attacks hit too hard. this is such an easy mechanic to tune as well. if we need a dps buff/nerf, simply increase/decrease the coefficient.

every crit you do, no matter what source, will put a dot on the target for 40% (or whatever %) the amount of the crit, and it rolls on, adding 20% of each crit to the dot that is slowly ticking down. think deep wounds or ignite.

copy pasting some words from another site, but for example:

Discharge (or any other melee attack) crits for 1500, applying a DoT that will deal 600(40%) over the next 4 seconds. Assuming no further ability used, the combat log (time-tagged here for convenience) will show as follows:

    0:00.00 - Your Discharge crits <Target> for 1500 damage.

    0:00.00 - <Target> is afflicted by DoT

0:02.00 - <Target> suffers 300 Fire damage from your DoT.

0:04.00 - <Target> suffers 300 Fire damage from your DoT.

    how ignite works in wow

this link applies to world of warcraft, specifically for mages, but i feel the mechanic if tweaked a bit can work well for deception and fit into the playstyle seamlessly.

Right....have you read the original post? This is EXACTLY what I was suggesting :D

  6. Well surging charge already proccs off Shock and Discharge. Couldnt believe it myself but it does. And in terms of dps on raids - we need something that makes us less dependent on crits. Im critting for 6k with discharge and 4.5k with shock, 1100-1300 with one hit of voltaic. These numbers look cool but the DPS is still VERY weak. This DoT idea of mine would solve this problem.....
  7. I think the answer is simple to increase the deception damage in pve, make surging charge work more like combustible gas cylinder on the powertech. Whenever you use a certain ability, like voltaic slash, it will proc a 6 sec dot (bleed would be good) on the target. This will improve the sustained damage significantly and make deception more viable for pvp too.

Mine idea seems better to me :D because the DoT would scale better and its mechanic is not on any class in this game.

  8. Im playing assassin from the launch of this game, I chose this class because I liked the playstyle of Deception Assassin. But Deception DPS in operations is really horrible(which makes it unplayable :( ), because they dont have any ability that would do damage while our skills dont crit(everyone hates that moment when shock + discharge dont crit ). So my suggestion would be, why not give deception talent that would make our crits from force abilities(shock + discharge) to create a DoT on the target that would deal 20-30% damage inflicted. I know that I got the idea from fire mage in WoW but both classes are about crits from their spells. And I even think this mechanic would fit assassin more because its about acumulating +dmg buffs and then unleashing it upon the enemy rather than casually spamming fireball.

This talent would replace the effect of Saber Conduit, its effect is barely noticable and its quite high up the tree to prevent other speccs from using it. And of course the name would fit it  .

So what do you think? :o At best the DoT would do around 2000 damage without crits (counting 6k discharge crit) which isnt that much(that would depend of the length of the DoT). In my opinion 5 ticks would be sufficient without making it OP(dot ticking for 400 isnt that much, but makes the difference).

p.s.: I spent hour doing parses of different speccs and Deception really IS the worst. (I have fully remoded campaign)

  9. As Ive said earlier, assassin is perfectly viable dps without problems. Try full madness or that Darkness/Madness hybrid I posted earlier. In my experiance on dummy Pure Madness Parses a little bit higher(2-3%). But in real situations the hybrid is higher because its not so reliable on DoTs, has higher force regen ( more Thrashes !!! ).

So dont make excuses and try harder :p. I regret only the fact that Deception (my favourite build) is REALLY weak compared to the previous 2.

  10. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200MIMsz0cZZcMfRrbkb.2

Im usually topping dps charts in my guild with this build. (Whole EC HM done).

Assassins are viable if you know how to play them. Light armor is not your disadvantage if you know how to use your defensive cooldowns (force shroud) on bosses abilities, because you can mitigate more damage through it than most classes.

But its true Im almost fully moded with 61 mods so.....maybe its the scaling.

  11. Yep, Im raiding with it, because its really *switch target friendly* build because it has no creeping terror(one less DoT to worry about) and also that regen(got tired of madness because of the lack of power). Im usually toping the dps meter with that(last time on tanks in EC HM(hooray we finally got them )). Just make sure you have the set bonus from tionesse/columi/rakata/campaign set because its damage comes mainly from Thrash crit spamming.

p.s.: you use saber strike with this one VERY RARELY.
