  1. LOL....I like how some of you people pick and choose what you read out of a story....

Over time however, the number of legitimate customers using these codes has dropped, and the number of gold farmers using them has risen to a level where we can no longer ignore these illegal sales.

BW is trying to be proactive with a problem that plagues every MMO. Who do you think is watching behind the scenes for this type of activity?

Remember when the game went live and we had all those chest farmers on Ilum and Corellia?? Where are they now??? I know I was frustrated after posting screenshots w/names to the support folks as well as in game "reports". It didn't seem like BW cared or was going to do anything about this problem.

I haven't seen a chest farmer anywhere in months.

So I am going to give BW the benefit of the doubt and let them monitor this type of activity and try their best to protect the rest of "us" legitimate customers.

OP, go find something else to complain about.....................

  2. Most perhaps... But not all... There are some pretty smart people out there -- some who have ideas much better than many devs.

LOL....I love this line of thinking.....

I can make the game better than the developers <beats on chest>!!!

Whose game is it anyways?? Yours??

Cut these guys and gals some serious slack. They came up with these ideas, like them or not, so allow them to flourish or sink without pretending that you can do it better.

Positive feedback and contributions go a heck of a lot farther than all the constant whining and entitlement crap most people tend to spew out.

  3. To those who might sneer at something as "non-essential" as a video game company winning the Worst Company In America vote: It's that exact kind of attitude that allows people to ignore the complaints as companies like EA to nickel and dime consumers to death.

And the purpose of this thread is?????

You have an opinion?? Good for you....

    So does everyone else....

There is only one person who cares about yours........

    Guess who that is???

  4. Perhaps you could be locked away and or deleted, whilst I agree that the OP has probably taken the whole issue over the top. Forums are here for the users of this game to post about the game and if that means posting a complaint then so what.

Just because you have rose coloured glasses and BioWare can do no wrong, doesn't mean other people don't have legitimate gripes. By all means disagree with the OP but perhaps add something remotely constructive to your post.

The downtime has affected my game play considerably this week as timing is bang on my prime play time, in fact there is a good chance this weeks downtime will cost me a free month of play time. Maintenance has landed on the only two nights I really had serious time free to play this week. That just leaves me the weekend to play this week now.

I would suggest that BioWare give us a free day any time there is unscheduled maintenance so effectively anytime the servers go down that's not a Tuesday we score a free day. I would perhaps even stretch it as far as to say that if there was a current promo running that was time limited, for instance the current Legacy one then its due date was pushed back by each day of unscheduled maintenance.

    HAHAHA!!

You made me laugh so hard with this nonsense............

Because I get tired of reading all the whine posts here, which happen to be >80%, I must be a BW fanboy or something else??

Same lame argument all of you use when someone doesn't agree with what you post. So you agree with a "whine" post and add your own "whine" to it.

    Are you special??

This game is not perfect, nor is any other MMO out there. Nor is 99.9% of all computer programs. There are other things in life than playing computer games, so go do something else while they are fixing this game. Is that really so hard to do??

  5. Why is there so much server down time for Maintenance.

In all the mmo,s i have played this is the worst for the amount of server down time.

To be absolutely honest I have not seen any marked improvement in this game.

the most important part of ANY mmo is the end game and that has Definitely not been sorted.

You are mucking about in areas that are absolutely fine & The Legacy system,,, do you Really think that we

    are gonna love that.

Come on Bioware, EA & Lucas, admit there is a series problem here and that so called special meeting of the guilds etc was a farce. Its fixed nothing and was just soap screen.

Of course I love the game at the beginning hoping that things would be sorted but I am now knowing that it probably wont and I can understand why serious mmo & pvp gamers are leaving in droves.

It would be obvious if the figures were published of say January,s player base vs today,s.

You could easily change the title to this thread to "Whining, why so much???"

Seriously, go play the game or do something else instead of posting nonsense.

Their is no purpose to this thread and it should be locked away and/or deleted.

  6. So basically the people that exploited the start game to get millions of credits could afford the crystal and others couldnt  shocker that BW would think of a stupid idea like that, bring the vendor back everyone loved that guy and my jedi consular has a date with him!! lol :wea_03:

I can understand ( well, maybe a very minute amount) your frustration with this vendor going away. However, most folks didn't exploit the game to rack up credits, they just played the game. With 3 toons at level 50, I had over 7.5 mil credits, mainly from doing the daily missions to upgrade my equipment.

In a nutshell, you gonna just have to get over the vendor not being there. It's not like they didn't prepare everyone for this weeks and weeks ago........

  7. Dear Bioware SWTOR Team

While i applaud and understand your push to fix everything in patch 1.2, i hope now your Content / Patch team learned their lesson with this debacle..

    • The MAJORITY of subscriber dont mind if you just keep patching small stuff instead of 1 BIG GIANT patch that have potential to ruin everything at once..
    • I Suggest next time please do a separate PVE and PVP patch in different time. So when some unforseen problem crops up, its easier to roll back on buggy patch.
    • i Suggest you check your current LEVELING curve and see how now your PVP leveling is nerfed because a losing team dont gain XP/Credits in WZ even when they spend time there and remember while losing they ALSO CONTRIBUTE in providing ENTERTAINMENT to the WINNING SIDE !!.. For Every winning gladiator in ROME, they need cannon-fodder for the match.. without the LOSERS there wont be PVP match.
    • I Suggest you do PVP Balancing slowly and not revamping it like 1.2 and then pull the major component like RWZ out at the last hour.. if you got separate PVP patch then you can roll 1.2 PVE patch in and delay the WHOLE 1.2 PVP Patch changes until RWZ got approved.
    • I Suggest your PVP dev team give PTR tester a set of lv50s characters to test instead of leveling their own in PTR. and please invite SWTOR PVP bloggers that can have massive input on your PVP balance and system.
    • I Suggest you dont give away 30 days free game time like this because those people who stop playing now wont log again while the current PVP system stays the same, so it is useless to them who dont want to touch SWTOR PVP again. You can give 5 or 10 or 15 days bonus but never 1 full month bonus (unless you see a MASSIVE subscriber quitting enmasse after 1.2 off-course)
    • Your awaited feature (Ranked Warzones and Cross Server WZ) should be packaged in the same PVP Patch in the future. LEARN YOUR LESSON and never deploy a PVP SYSTEM REVAMP in piecemeal way.. this will break everything and gain nothing but adds frustration and that leads to more people quitting.. (Never before i seen ppl quitting WZ like after 1.2, thus making those who stay even more frustrated)

The Massive PVP debacle already make 3 of my friend ragequit and dont extend their gametime (will end this april) and this suprised me as they are in love with SWTOR pvp like fanatics before 1.2 (the 30 days free time wont be beneficial to such people since they hate the current state of PVP and wont log again).

PVP is very POLARIZING, Players who PVP are competitive and very sensitive to massive changes and off course some of them just QUIT without posting anything in forum (you can check your subscriber statistic and see for yourself how many ppl quitting SWTOR because of PVP changes)

BTW , personally since i am casual PVE player mostly, i will still subscribing SWTOR for longtime. but i also a casual PVP player who solo WZ with PUGs.. that option is now gone for me.. a waste of time with no reward / gain since in my server , pug lost 10-1 average against Imps.. i just wondering WHO in Bioware PVP dev team approve the decision to punish Casual PVPers by removing their XP/Credit rewards ?

TLDR : Dont put PVE and PVP Patches in a single giant patch, SEPARATE THEM and Apply them in different phase.

I hope you learn a lesson.................

Posts like this are useless and self-serving. Go spend your time doing something constructive instead......

  8. Some more to add:

Cannot adjust the font size in all chat windows. I scaled down my UI interface from 1.0 to 0.9 and decided I wanted my font size bigger in my 3 chat windows. I can adjust the main chat window, but "other" and one I made for "combat" cannot be adjusted, even though the option appears in the same place.

You have to remove, then re-install the earpiece and implant(s) on your companions to get the stats to add correctly to their total. And it seems you have to do this each time you log or swap your characters.

  9. Yes, "we all know" because every SWTOR player frequent the forums, and read every post on the SWTOR website. Yes it is always the customers fault when a large company decides to screw over uninformed customers.

It should be obvious that I did not make this post with the interest to protect myself. It is very unlikely that I would get screwed personally because I frequent the forums and website. However, it would still be poor business for BW to release 1.2 without doing what I suggested, as the majority of players have no idea what is going to happen in 1.2 because they don't visit the forums. Even if they do they may not be informed in time to replace the mods if the warning window is only 2 days. It should be obvious which is the superior solution to this problem, the only people that have a problem with it are those that are impatient and just want the patch to come out ASAP.

    Ever play another MMO???

How many of them sent out emails every time they did a game update????

    (wait for it..........)

    (wait for it..........)

    (wait some more.......................)

    Yeah, that's what I thought.

Might be a swell idea, but not a practical one. Don't you (or anyone else) hold your (their) breath!!!

  10. First it was Ilum, then Correllia. Now you say they are on Belsavis. The best thing you can do is report them and they will eventually get banned.

I know I don't see any more of them on Ilum, so would assume they got booted. Could be wrong, but hope I am right.

Maybe it will happen on Belsavis too.............

  11. I have looked around, but have trouble finding a specific guide on the requirements to do each HM FP. What I am looking for, is which NPC you talk to first, whether you have to do any quests beforehand, etc.

There is nothing worse than getting folks together to do any one of the HM FP's and one or more person(s) "Is not eligible for this mission" comes up.

    Thanks for your helpful responses...............

  12. I had Just repaired 1.3k, then i had to take everything off and back on to get it to show the Correct stats in my Charater screen, after an hour of fighting -which normaly Costs 1-2k

    i Had a Bill of 7k

Yet the next one was back to 1.2k

Cant Wait  (Yeah right) till 50 and get hit with Bills of 200k (Since i have never had Anything past 120k)

You don't need to take it off/on...just reset your UI....Ctrl+U twice............

  13. Is this true, if so, what mission?

I think it is called a civilian pilots belt. It is light armor and has armor & mod slots open. The cost is 60 fleet commendations.

Space combat, while not for some, is an excellent way to make XP as you level up to 50. The key is to do each mission when it becomes available first, then do a pair of them as daily's. You will need to upgrade your ships weapons/shields, etc. if you want to do the harder missions.

  14. Does it really take Bioware between 2 and 6 hours to patch one item every time they take the servers down?

Here is what they have patched on nights I'm referring to:

"Killing players on Ilum will now consistently grant Valor and mission credit as intended."

"Made a configuration change to resolve hitching/freezing issues seen on some clients after patch 1.1.1. "

"Improved service to reduce the number of player disconnections to the character selection screen."

Seriously, 4 hours for that is absurd. This is not the first time they have patched a single item and taken the server down for between 2 and 6 hours.

Seriously, please learn how to hotfix and do rolling restarts. Taking the servers down for 2 to 6 hours at a time multiple times per week as a cost cutting measure is terrible customer service!

OP, what exactly is the purpose of your post. Need attention?? Need people to agree with you??

I mean, what are you looking for here???

This is just another silly whine post, to add the 100's already littered throughout these forums.

Don't you have something better to do with your time???

Do you feel the need to play a game 24/7????

    Get over it!!!!!

  15. Here is how power and crit works:

Power is applied, typically, to bonus damage and/or healing. It is weighted slightly higher than willpower, which is your main stat.

Crit on gear or weapons raises your critical % score along with willpower, skills & buffs.

Willpower is more important than power, since if affects more stats across the board.

Personally, I believe that raising your crit % along with your surge % will benefit you more in the long run, regardless if you are specc'd as a healer or DPS.

higher crit % = more crits

higher surge % = more damage/healing per crit.

While it is nice to have added power from gear/weapons, you should choose crit and surge over power when you have the choice.

Also, alacrity is of lesser importance even though it helps channel times.

  16. Thanks for your responses, Synavix and Tibbel.

For those that may be following along, it is easy to identify which of your abilities (attacks) are ranged and which are tech based. Hit "P" on your keyboard and each ability specifies what type it is.

As I posted before, ranged attacks will show up in a bolder white color, while tech based attacks will show up as yellow.

I didn't know that tech based damage wasn't negated by any defense of the enemy, so thanks for that.

Now, if the bosses do have around 8-10% defense, wouldn't accuracy over 100% bring those numbers down??

I guess that is the crux of my question in the first place.

Thanks for the tip regarding Sithwarrior.com

  17. what do you base all this on, i call BS until i see any proof at all.

What are you calling BS on???

Anything else to "contribute" to this discussion or just going to disagree with what anyone says they believe??

While I don't believe the previous poster answered my questions, they have a right to post their opinion.

And yes, facts would go a long way towards advancing an opinion, not what the "consensus" thinks.

By the way, who is the "consensus"???

  18. Thanks for the quick reply on this.

First, to answer your question on damage colors:

Standard (low-res) white is your companion's damage.

Bold white is your ranged damage.

    Yellow is your tech damage.

Edit: It is easy to confirm these damage types / colors by checking on/off your flytext preferences in the UI. I haven't done it, but I am confident I am correct with the above.

Now it seems that you are saying that (3 & 4) above are special attacks but they are really tech attacks. So, if you have 100% ranged accuracy, you have 110% tech accuracy since tech attacks already start out at 100% accuracy. Does that make understanding ranged attacks any clearer?? Heck no!!

Now, I understand what you are saying about accuracy above 100% for the PvP check, but I have to believe that each enemy NPC (and not just boss mobs) have inherent stats. And if that logic holds, they have a "defense" score.

This brings me back to my question, does it benefit you to have accuracy greater than 100% knowing that the enemy you are fighting has a set defense %???

I am not even factoring the off-hand, because that is not our main damage dealer, although it does contribute to overall DPS.

This might be a question only the developers can answer............

  19. This is a great guide and I have gone back to read over it many times as I level up my Gunslinger.

However, I haven't seen much of a discussion about accuracy.

The definition of accuracy in the game is: Chance that ranged attacks will successfully hit the target. Accuracy over 100% reduces the target's defense.

So, at 100% accuracy, we should be hitting the enemy NPC with a ranged weapon 100% of the time, correct???

    I don't think so...........

The tooltip says anything over 100% lowers the enemy NPC's defense (score, %, etc.). So, wouldn't higher accuracy reduce the defense chance of the enemy NPC:

defense = Chance to avoid incoming attacks, broken down by attack type.

If I am correct, then the following equation would illustrate our chance to hit and how it is affected by our accuracy:

Enemy NPC Defense chance = 100% + enemy NPC defense chance (%) - our accuracy (%)

Given this example, if the enemy NPC's defense is 8%, and we have our accuracy at 100%, there still is an 8% chance that the enemy NPC will not be hit by our ranged attack.

If that theory is true, wouldn't we want to raise our accuracy as high as we can until we negate our enemy NPC's defense chance???

Of course, without a combat log, this becomes difficult to prove, but it gives us something to chew on.

Thanks for any input on this............

  20. Bioware,

As of this moment it is imperative that you stop new content development and immediately start fixing the existing problems in the game. The problem as it stands right now is not the lack of content but the complete failure of many aspects of this game.

Churning out more broken content is not the fix and its time you start listening to people that play this game instead of staying the course of your own misguided agenda.

PvP needs serious attention and there are numerous problems with game design in this area that need to be changed. RNG of loot via champion bags is laughable at best. Nerfing classes from outcry from people that dont even play the class they are asking to be nerfed is not how you address the problem.

Population imbalances are another source of frustration for many players and xrealm WZ's or LFG needs to be on the table for serious consideration.

Crafting of PvP items for entry level 50's should be an option. Also I hope you are serious about including set bonuses for modable gear in the near future.

More UI customization is sorely needed via macros or addons. This should have been in the game since day one.

Please LISTEN to the community and fixes that are legitimate problems in the game before you focus on newer content.

    LOL!!

Who nominated you and the mouthpieces, whiners, complainers, ragequitters, etc. to speak for the "community"????

Have an opinion ----> No problem, speak your mind.

Think anyone or everyone shares your opinion ---------> move on and / or out the door......

  21. I do not have a character that I feel I will ever need to change the AC. BUT: Troopers and Vanguards are essentially the same class minus a cannon. Seriously, they wear the SAME gear and play relatively the same way.

Yeah right, you have played both to 50 then???

They can wear the same gear, but need different stat values and they play completely differently, so you need to come up with a better reason than this...............
