  1. This round of progression isn't competitive. I mean, my hat is off to those who have cleared HM S&V already, but we all know that progression right now is more about which guild has the faster power levelers. That's not raid progression, it's just grinding. Basically, the first guilds to get 8 solid people at 55 are going to get the first kills.

Save your competitive spirit for NiM TfB, when we're all on equal footing w.r.t. gear and level.

hope your server goes down while others raid ... see how you feel about it ...

  2. Like the title says I'm a little disappointed about the new sort-of "ingame barber shop". There are several reasons why but first I'm going to put the quote from the "State of the Game #3" here.

While I first read it I was like "Great! That is awesome!" But then I took a closer look. "...using Cartel Coins." To me this seems like too much. But first lets talk about the species change. To me that shouldn't happen because it isn't "realistic" but I found that it could be ok. The other things like hair, body, and eye color was all fine. But why with CC? This game is turning into "Your a sub but you have to pay MORE real money for basic features like a barber shop!" I could understand the species thing being in the CM, but ALL of the barber shop?! That is going too far. What next? Having to pay money for certain class abilities in the CM? Whether you think so or not barber shops ARE basic features. Personally I think they should've been ingame since launch. But why do we, the players, have to pay MORE money to you for a basic feature?

I think that they should change this before they release it. BW should either take out species changing or leave it in the CM... BUT make the rest of the "Barber Shop" not cost CC. Make it ingame currency. If they don't I'm not sure how much more I can take.

Yes all these new CC market ONLY features are hugely disappointing. A guild member just quit the game specifically because of the CC market reputation. This is EXACTLY the type of bs we were expecting when F2P was originally announced.

Some of us have been subbed since day one and played through underpopulated servers and 6 months between new content. ALL features should be available to subscribers .. otherwise why should i be subscribed, it'd probably be cheaper to just buy weekly OPS passes ( I can live without PVP ).

Again this is hugely disappointing news :(

  3. Just please, you made me cry when I read this post. Please don't go on a PVP server if you don't like world pvp.

I never said I don't like world pvp.

    What I did say is:

    1. We were there to kill a boss.

    2. There was no world pvp - the moment we actually engaged the imps in pvp they ran away.

They were not interested in world pvp but in wiping us.

  4. Ah, it is so nice to see the spirit of friendship, help and mutual respect that is just filling the air around here...

On a more serious note, congratulations to "Friendly fire" on 20%. Also, we didn`t even get to 50%. 57% was our best try (ironically, it was the very 1st try as well). So far as buffs go, we were curious and pleasantly surprised when we saw that the boss was at 10-stack already (no need for us to waste the essences). Now we know how he got there :D

As griefing toward your atempts, I can say that it wasn't us. If you actually saw <Floor Inspectors> guild-tag under that person's nickname, I can assure you, that person behaved on his/her own initiative and we didn't know about it.

Also, I am full aware of "Friendly Fire"s progression and that they are one of the top (probably THE top) PvE progression guild on our server/world. Plus, some people said that Elidhu is world's top sorc, sorry, sage :) (even though I dissagree, since that place is taken by yours truly :p - a best sorcerer no one ever heard about). Don't go boosting about your progress, everyone who needs already know this (even though I understand that Ara's post was very provoking for you due to it's content and nature), show us a proper example.

Damn, that took a while, now to the Dreadtooth himself.

It was impossible for us to get the kill, since opposite faction members just aoe'd the group and interfered in almost all ways possible. With PvP healing reduction debuff on the whole raid, fight became impossible to heal through. Smash -> rock throw -> person gets deleted. Worst thing, no way we can avoid it, since assassins, sorry, shadows just stealth through and pop and aoe on us, PvP debuffing everyone.

I know it's a PvP server and all that, but there is a difference between world PvP/ganking and deliberate fun ruining for 24 people. You ask me, if one person can successfully wipe 24 people with no way for 24 to prevent it -> something is wrong here. Also, if you have nothing better to do than to ruin the day of 24 people trying to acomplish something you never will -> you are a sad sad person :(

To those who will be trying Dreadtooth 10-stack, good luck and hopefully you will not get griefed.

P.S. If any republic guild will be atempting Dreadtooth at 5+ stacks but is missing a tank, I am available (shadow tank, close to BiS - 26,500+ health unstimmed, 26/46/62 defence stats). Feel free to contact Leravu'lan on republic side. ;)

P.P.S. Probably some typos and mistakes in there that I didn't noticed, sorry 'bout that :D

I'm so glad to see an intelligent post :) .. they're so rare these days.

Imo it's just bad design on Bioware's part .. we should either be immune to trauma while fighting the boss or be allowed to do this with more than 24 people. Most of the imps who were harassing us ended up dead, it's the 30% less healing which is the big issue here.

Anyway please don't bash on <SR> they were helping us out dealing with the imps harassing us and later joined in on actually killing the boss.

One last thing - please keep Aragorrius on his leash. :)

  5. Just for the record, anyone who ever went to school knows that your little list means NOTHING.

It's not even an official source.

Moreover... My guild for example isn't even on that list. Even though we should be.

Why? Because we don't give a damn about your little lists...

We do belong in the top of that list though, which anyone who plays with us or talks to us knows.

But we don't play so we can show others how wannabe awesome we are.

And since there are over 1 million people playing on these servers.. I got some statistical information for you.

Chances are there are more guilds NOT on your list.. Guilds that might have done just as well.

All your list shows is a group of Guilds that participated in the "Who has the biggest Wiener" contest.

So your list is quite meaningless.

Floor Inspectors is Full Progression. We've cleared anything and everything on 8 man.

We do not do 16 man's regularly at the moment, but those we've done we did without any effort.

We raid 5 days out of 7 and I'm quite sure any of our members knows their class and any PVE encounter inside out.

We however do not feel the need to "Claim" world bosses or events, because they belong to everyone.

If you buffed him yesterday and you weren't good enough to beat him, you DO not own him today.

In fact I think it's even against the Regulations Bioware set down to even claim this.

    @I_sithed_mypants

Mate I know this is frustrating.. but I do enjoy PVP.. where it belongs.. in WZ and in PVP events.

However I despise idiots that are just out to destroy the attempts at achievement by others and calling it "PVP"

    PVP means Person versus Person.

When a guild is actually involved in a PVE fight.. and you Back stab them.. that's got NOthing to do with a VERSUS fight. Because there is no 2 sides fighting each other on equal footing.

It's just you being on the same level as Judas Iskariot 2000 years ago... or any traitor backstabber ever since.

Yours is no honor, but only shame.

why do I even bother trying to argue with you.

Argue with a fool and he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.....

I give up. You win, you're right... how could we have been so stupid as to think we could actually achieve something like this in a reasonable fashion.

You belong at the top huh ? LOL ?

    Please provide some proof.

btw. We did not "claim" the boss, i responded to your arrogant behavior .. You seem to feel entitled to that kill, which is not the case. More than that you don't have the numbers/ gear/ understanding of the fight to do it anyway ( but hey you're the best right if you can't do it no one can right ? where s that proof again ? )

It's funny how it was a "spontaneous" decision for you to attempt that boss at 10 stacks ( when he was conveniently already buffed AND the reps - us, griefed all night ) , and at the same time you claim you've prepared for it by farming the buffs required - what a convenient coincidence.

Please learn2read already and do not post non sense.

    P.S. Where's that proof again ?

  6. People with agression issues and apparantly imbalanced sense of inflated Ego shouldn't be allowed to play the game.

So you are the best Guild? Got any proof? Any particular rating or KPI that shows you are the best?

Has it done well for you? How is your income? did it grow from your grand achievement in this VIRTUAL Universe?

Tell me... does it make you feel good to look at yourself in the mirror and say "I'm one of the best PVE'ers on this server.. I can't proof it.. and I still don't have any sex.. but I'm the best.." ??

Let me know when it does.. I'll join your guild that day...

but until then I won't give a rats *** for you and your bunch of self important children.

yep we have plenty of proof of being one of the very best 16 man progression guilds in the world atm ... feel free to check out the progression tracking threads.

    edit.

I'll make easy for you .. spreadsheet with the updated rankings EC NiM 16 man

    The actual thread:

I strongly suggest you do your homework before you decide to talk *********** ****.

  7. I feel a lot of Rage here.

    1. We didn't grief you last night. Not my Guild for sure, because we do not CONDONE it.

    2. You Buffed it.. so now you suddenly OWN a world boss? Perhaps you should see a doctor if that is your logic.

    3. We went there tonight and found him with 10 stacks, however we had a load of essences we farmed ourselves and were READY to use them.

    4. I was thanking those people who acted Courteous and you managed to ruin it with your childish baby rage.

    SO... in short G T F O

    G T F O ??

how *********** rude are you ?

yes rage is *********** there .. because of a bunch of ******* griefed on us all *********** night.

Unlike you we actually got to under 20% ... you barely got to 50% ( which is when the fight actually starts )...

    G T F O ?

  8. Today , Monday 11th of February 2013,

MINT IMPERIALS & FLOOR INSPECTORS (Empire)

    floorinspectors.enjin.com & /mints.enjin.com

Attempted a spontaneous Joint Venture to try kill Dreadtooth on 10 stacks.

It went fairly well, however we were (what I call Grieved) kept from killing him by TRAUMA debuff which was applied on us by some REP players in the area, mainly from SR (SuckeRs).

    Unfortunate, but true.

I would, however, like to give Special thanks to

    MOTORHEAD

    TMAN

    MITHRANDR

for Courteously making a Gentleman's agreement with us to not attack and give us the chance to kill him.

Cheers guys!!! was very cool, unfortunate others were not so kind.

Hopefully we'll have better luck in the future.

    PS: FLOORINSPECTORS ARE RECRUITING STILL!!!

    Raid 5 days a week.

    Full Progression.

Focus on PVE, but we PVP aswell and want to start a RANKED team.

    Most Social Hardcore Guild around.

we were doing the same thing yesterday .. <FriendlyFire> here ...

It's a bit funny for you to grief us all night yesterday and cry on the forums today.

Especially considering WE BUFFED it for you ... dont remember you spending a night or two farming *********** buffs ..

On top of that the *********** pvp ******* ran away the moment we gave up and actually engaged them in pvp

EDIT. WE BUFFED it ... why THE **** do you feel entitled to that kill ?

  9. As a guild recruiter for a top guild, I would throw out your application if it ever came in. Why? Because posting on here just shows you lack patience, which is contrary to what raiding guilds want.

I suggest going to websites of the top raiding guilds on Harbinger, fill out apps, and wait and see. If you've already done that, keep your thread active on the server forums.

Acting impatient will not get you where you need to go.

Stoic is a top guild now ?

anyway .. tank spots are usually pretty limited, stating that you want to tank in a single line of text is not the best approach. I'd strongly suggest you expand on your gear, experience and the type of guild you're looking for. Also as already mentioned you should do that in your server forums.

Another approach would be to start PUGing on your server as much as you can, if you are a decent player you should have no issues finding a suitable guild..

  10. In the process of leveling 5th 50 pub on the pot5 server. I have noticed some hilarious and frustrating things while queuing for flashpoints. Tank jedi knights with endurance/willpower sabers and aim/ endurance implants that wipe on the first boss. Sage healers with strength/endurance sabers. Jedi knight tanks with wrong stat weapons again that will que as damage role and stay in soresu the whole time taking aggro away from you. People needing for things they don't need for their class then equip them right after. Numerous people not letting the tank attack first and just aggroing everything to themself. People that won't listen to you on final bosses that will stand in the fire on cademinu after you told them not to. PLEASE people this game is not hard read up on it search the forums you make it frustrating for people that want a quick run through these for gear. I literally LOL when I see tanks in flashpoints with the wrong gear on and when I try and call these people out on it they magically never respond.

this is not limited to your server .. standing out of the fire in cademimu seems to be an extremely hard mechanic to understand for a lot of people ... more than that on EU servers you can never tell whether that person actually speaks english or not .. which makes it even more frustrating ... they just stand there .. say nothing .. die .. ninja loot and disappear ...

it's still better than doing esseles with its hours of conversations and running with someone who doesn't even have sprint yet ..

then you have people who join warzones in GREEN LVL 40 gear ..

Bioware repeatedly assured us f2p will NOT affect subscribers .. yet it does in so many ways. Please make separate queues for f2p people ...

  11. I came across this on Friendly Fire forums http://i3.aijaa.com/b/00975/11727806.jpg . I am deeply saddened by this post, the only glimmer of hope in my life right now is that they didn't disagree about the fact that i'm considered to be the best rp player on the server.

So anyway now i am looking for a kind player who would be able to mentor me in PvP/Making credits, i dont think that i need help with PvE because even a chimpanzee could be considered good at it. Also i would appreciate any help in RP:ing, i think i'm a very good Bulbasaur but there is always room for improvement.

You can contact me ingame if you feel that you would be a good mentor for me.

    Yours sincerely Tomppa :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

wb tomppa .. server forums were so boring without you ..

  12. I've tried tanking EC on my shadow a couple of times now, and frankly I'm finding the mechanic on Zorn completely unreasonable.

What it looks like happens is that with no apparent warning (other than the rough health level of the mob I'm tanking), Toth does the jump, I get the debuff, and I die all pretty much simultaneously.

After about the 5th instadeath, I did manage to figure out that just spamming skills on Zorn is Bad. If I do that, I'll often see the switch happening in the middle of an attack, but be powerless to stop the next attack I already have queued up. Bam! ... instadeath.

OK. So no more spamming skills on Zorn. Slow and deliberate. But it doesn't really help much. You see, as a shadow here's my typical skill menu:

    Double-Strike (2 hits over about a 1s animation)

Project (1 or 2 hits over about 0.5s)

Saber Strike (3 hits over 1.5s)

Force breach (1 hit at about 0.5s. 15s cooldown)

TK Throw (5 hits over 3 seconds)

Slow Time (2 hits over 1s. Why 2? beats me.)

Notice anything interesting? I only have 1 skill in there that does only a single hit. The instant I get debuffed, I take a bit under 5K damage for each hit, of course. I also only have one skill (fortunately the same one) that doesn't give Zorn an entire second to debuf me after I initiate it. That's also the only skill that doesn't inflict the big hurt on me multiple times if it happens. So I can stop attacking the instant the jump happens, and I'm still quite likely to die. I had at least one death where I was watching Toth closely, but he jumped while my finger was going down on an attack. Zap, dead.

So the only way I've found to deal with Zorn is, after the first few seconds, just stand there like a punching bag. If I'm feeling lucky I can put on a force breach every 15s.

This mechanic is so completely unreasonable that I'm thinking I must be doing something way wrong. How do other shadow/assassin tanks deal with this?

In hard mode it wasn't really an issue ... in NiM i pop resilience for the jump .. saved my life on a number of occasions :) ( used to use resilience for a different mechanic in HM )

first jump is at 90% .. 70, 50 etc ... recently we've had a bug (?) where the 70% jump will actually be at 63% for some reason :D ... it doesn't occur regularly and its just the 70% one :D

  13. If the other mobs are normals or strings, DPS can solo them in a small amount of time while taking minimal damage. This will greatly reduce stress on the healer (since some of those mobs may be hitting healer if they havent been hit yet) and the number of mobs you have to worry about holding onto.

In fact, operations trash is about the only time that DPS are supposed to be attacking what the tank is hitting. And frommy experience, the trash in 16man is more annoying than 8man, and the trash in EV and KP was not any easier than the newer stuff.

So yeah, I guess I disagree with pretty well every point you made.

maybe you should learn to read then .. it seems like you're agreeing with me.

  14. Altogether, assassins have 4 defensive cooldowns: Deflection (weapon damage), Force Shroud (tech damage), Overload Saber (lockout-free medpack), and Force Cloak. I use Overload Saber fairly aggressively, and I'm always surprised at assassin/shadow tanks who don't. Force Cloak is another uncommon one, but primarily due to the fact that it debuffs healing. It has to be used very carefully with full knowledge of what you're about to do to your party. I use it absolutely every time I tank NiM Kephess (twice in the same fight if my co-tank dies in the last phase). Similarly, I use it every time on NiM Toth and Zorn (to reset the medpack lockout), fairly frequently on HM Dread Guard, and every time on HM Writhing Horror (to avoid pulling off my co-tank at the start). Also, there's all the situational uses when you need to get someone up and the battle rez is down.

No question though, the bread and butter is Deflection and Force Shroud. Use and abuse the heck out of those cooldowns. A huge part of what separates good assassin tanks from great ones is an active knowledge of the specific fight and the timing of relevant damage (e.g. Force Shroud right before Savage Wounding is applied on NiM Kephess).

do you have a video of using force cloak as a CD ? as i see it there is no upside to using it .. you drop aggro, so someone else gets hit ( and not the tank ? ), then you cannot taunt for a few seconds because you cannot be healed ( so someone else is still getting hammered ) ... and that is to reset your medpack ? which you shouldn't need in the first place ?

now Kephess specifically is a different story .. its not as much about using it as a CD as it helps with too slow/ too fast taunts from your other tank.

  15. no offense BUT there is no ''right'' and ''wrong'' there is 1. personal preference and 2. not all trash packs are the same.

Personally i like the dps attacking what i am attacking.. it makes it harder for them to pull off me ( they still do though ... no one bothers to drop threat during trash )

To make it easier for them use either verbal calls or marks .. for example bind flame on a easy key and mark your current kill target with it .. when it drops mark something else ..etc..

If the DPS start whacking random targets they'd better be geared enough to take the damage.. especially so in random LFG groups.

In actual ops I don't even try to tank trash anymore as no one bothers to follow any type of a kill order :) and to be fair trash in the new instances is so much easier than in EV and KP ( especially in 16 man )

  16. I also run the full immortal spec juggernaut, the survivability is minimally worse but the threat generation is so much better with my rotation that I find its better for the group.

threat generation on guardians / juggs is pathetic either way.. whichever way you go you'll still need your dps to behave therefore there's no reason to sacrifice survivability.

I am currently gearing my guardian as an alt tank ( instead of a vanguard ) and personally prefer the hybrid ..
