  1. Hello all,

I was taking a look back on this game today, and saw the Red Eclipse was one of the few servers left. I played this game a few months from day one, had some fun, but the game got bored somewhat.

Must say I had some good times on this server, so I'm not really suprised this server still stands.

    But how are things now?

    1) Did the game improve much since that time (beginning 2012)?

    2) How are the populations on this server nowadays?

I deleted my toon back then (a lvl 50 BH/Powertech). So working up again, started with a Sith.

  2. People generally seem to think that when a game is not fun for them, the game is bad. Though I haven't played in a while (month or so) because I lost interest a bit, I do find this a good game. Surely I would have done things in another way, but that is my personal opinion.
  3. I'm having fun and I will be playing this game for some time in the future, but in General the game has not brought what I had expected from it. I'm fully confident I could have done a way better job:)

It feels a bit like a missed opportunity.

But even despite that, I will be playing ;)

  4. Hello all,

When you wear a certain amount of armorparts of specific armors (Rakata, Columni, Tionese) you get an additional bonus, wich is nice ofcourse.

I do like the coliumni armor, but I have seen nicer armors in game. I can retrieve the armorparts from the columniarmor and transfer them to an armor I like, but I do lack the nice bonus you get with the columni, tionese or rakata armor.

It would be nice of those bonusses are transferable too.

What are your opinions on this?

  5. Though I play Empire, the LS imo is stronger.

The reason is simple, the darkside can not maintain itself and falls every single time. True power is seen in stability an containment.

Add to that: negative emotions usually feed one's powers, also in the SW universe. That being said; jedi don't need negative emotions to match the darkside, wich potentially makes them superior to the sith.

  6. Hmm, when a jedi/sith, strong with the force, gets a baby, it wouldn't be strange for it to be Force-sensitive right? I mean, we see it in all movies.

But what when the kid decides not to become a jedi, but a trooper, smuggler, bounty hunter or agent. That doesn't mean he can not use some small force does it?

It isn't as far from the lore as people might think.

Add to that: you don't need to pick the force abilities and the usage will be low due the specific circumstances it can be used and the CD.

  7. SWTOR handsdown. I have played SWG for 6 years, but when I look at it in an honest way, the game was really poor (to put it gently). The comminity was awesome. I mean, my number of logins was strongly influenced by the activity of IG friends.

But Pvp was very boring. Only one real pvp area and BHing.

    Content was way too easy.

Planets where filled with emptyness and ugly cities.

    No eye for details,

    Grinding was aweful,

Great imbalances and the resulting fast switching FOTM's.

Bugs, bugs, bugs. Even in it's best period, pre cu, it contained more bugs then SWTOR at release. Add to thar that some bugs ehere not solved for years and years...

  8. I have played SWG for many years, pre cu, cu and Nge. But is it just me or was the SWG severly overrated? The endgame was modest (few toughies), pvp was poor at best (Restuss and Guildwars). also, the game has been full of bugs, exploits and imbalance (fotm) througout it's lifetime. The only thing I really give SWG above SWTOR is social (guilds, housing, events).

Had a great time, but that was due the people, bhing and some nice pve (DWB e.g.)

  9. Hello all,

It has probably been discussed before, but I'll just do it again then.

It would be nice to make players who are flagged for pvp unattackable for players who are not flagged for pvp.

Recent days, this has brought me some frustration. An example.

I'm always flagged for pvp since I like good fight (no matter if I win or loose, I just suck probably;p). Yesterday I was hunting holocrons, when I stumbled on this jedi (not flagged). We where both fully armed and ready when we saw eachother. I could not attack him and he did not attack me unfortunately. So there was this short showdown. Then he taunted a bit and left. I waited for a bit, but he didn't return. I grabbed my goal, launched my speederbike and voila, there he was, started hammering me down. It was a solid win for the Jedi.

As said I don't mind loosing, nor a good ambush, but the total decision to start a fight on their terms, whilst not flagged for pvp is somewhat annoying.

It also prevents players from accidentally switching to pvp when they by mistake hit a player who is flagged.

For some pvp action it is more benefitial not to be flagged for pvp.

  10. You really serious????

The most positive reactions this game receives are from people who are NOT yet 50 and have only experienced some of the lvl'ing.

The negative reactions are mostly from the people who HAVE leveled 1 - 50 and are complaining about the amount, or more like the lack of end game content..

    Move along fanbody

And again: you assume too much. I know a decent amount of 50s who still enjoy it alot.

The game has it's flaws, but people jump to conclusions way too fast. I see way too many reactions in the line of; "omg, he is positive, he is sooo wrong!1!" and "the guy is right, the game sucks" and yours fits in perfectly in these categories.

That being said: it's a fair review, in wich he makes clear why he doesn't lie it in a constructive way.

  11. Pretty sure any time you enter a instanced area, anything you kill does in fact stay dead.

However not all areas are instanced, they're just open areas. If you didn't enter though a green glowing door, you're not in a instance.

Hmm, that could be the case yes. I must say I'm not sure now that occured in an instance, but maybe in a area. Thnx.

  12. Just a small idea.

On some occasions, when I fight my way through a dungeon, reach my goal, and when I go back, I have to fight all the NPC's I killed again.

It feels a bit like: awesome, I have done it, woohoo!!....darn, now I have to fight my way back again:(

My suggestion: when you are in an instanced dungeon, when you kill something, let it remain dead.

  13. they havent made their money back from developement yet..and if this game retains 200k subs after march.. ill be EXTREMELY SHOCKED even at an impossible 500k subs.. they are only snagging back 7.5 mil /month on a game that cost around 300 mil to produce! lol.. im sorta happy EA is the one losing the monies..

Can you provide links to prove your statements?

  14. I don't get it. I haven't played alot of MMO's: SWG, WOW and Runes of Magic, but in all games I played solo mostly. Questing, grinding, that sort of stuff, all solo.

Only when doing difficult dungeons or pvp I played in a group. Same goes for SWTOR. As a matter of fact, I haven't played in a group as much as I have in SWTOR, for the heroics, pvp, and so on.

So I think your complaint is more focussed on MMO's in general.

  15. Well, considering the fact that WOW and SWTOR are both MMO's, both have a somewhat similar market, I could say the statistic is valid to state that SWTOR is more popular then WOW on Facebook.

Or could it be that WOW has more kids who don't have Facebook yet?:p

  16. Anyone who says the GTN or whatever is fine should have his posting rights removed. It's so obviously not fine. When I first used it, I walked away with the feeling that BioWare for some reason didn't want people using the GTN.

Can you make it work? Yes. But is it also needlessly cumbersome? Yes it is. If you say otherwise, you're just being a pain, troll or fanboy.

Someone saying that one's opinion is not true should get a ban on all forums on every place in the world forever.

I mean, ok, ths GTN sucks for me personally, but that doesn't mean everyone has to agree.

  17. ok, so if you did.. how would you control them? where would all the skills go? what ones would auto cast? would they still use the same resources? (and as such would they run out after an ability spam?)

as much as people are saying its a nice idea its just not viable or practical. chars require people to be behind them. think BH. put 2 abilities on autocast and he's be overheated and useless in seconds, plus there are far too many abilities per class to allow you to effectively control both yourself and it. not to mention the ui clutter to show those abilities. ui is bad enough with just yours let alone another classes abilities on show as well ;)

in short, nice idea, just not viable.

Think in opportunities, not in problems. You could standardize some preset abillities when an alt is your companion, playerchoice or devchoice based:)
