  1. With a break for food I hope, but you need another dude, or friend for 9 hours.

Yeah, that's a good friend that will spend 9 hours of their weekend doing that.

I haven't tried the class or planetary quests yet, is this quick?

I'm finding with KDY i'm getting about 60-70K XP per run, with the average run being 25mins. WZ's were giving me about 30-35K XP per.

I just figure with KDY at least i'm getting Rep and Planetary comms.

  2. I wonder if you ever played ranked. Ball carrier? no way, you'd be dead in seconds. Ninja capping pylon in AH? you must be joking, fight for the plyons are intense you will barely see a plyon guarded alone

Actually I haven't. That's why i created the post and asked for feedback. If i had, would i have asked?

Nice attempt at trying to make someone feel small, but in turn making yourself look like a complete idiot.

  3. I know Scrapper is not a coveted DPS spec for Ranked PvP play, however, I'm just curious whether they are still useful as a "utility" character. Here are some examples of what I mean by utility:

    - Ball carrier in Huttball (scamper)

    - Node capper in AH (sleep dart followed by flash grenade)

    - Node Guarding (using sleep dart to interupt until reinforcements arrive)

Just wondering if this utility offsets the weak survivability and lower DPS output compared to other stealth classes.

    Your feedback is much appreciated.

  4. congratulations, aikion. i didn't even realize they had picked the new reps.

anyway onto the thread. my problem with scrapper is the same as nieky's

(this is a pve-related issue for me, but i think it very much applies to pvp as well)

i think the ability to help with this already exists, just within the dirty fighting tree, with the +30% absorption talent for defense screen and a shorter cooldown.

i would like to see something similar in scrapper or maybe even something similar to commando's decoy, which completely absorbs the first incoming tech/force attack within 6s of using aggro dump.

tying it to surrender of course won't work as it'll pop us out of stealth, but adding it to defense screen could work i think. it's on a similar cooldown. it would absorb damage as it does normally, but would additionally negate the very first attack with a short timer on it.

To me, this is the direction we need to head. If they make the following adjustment to Defense Screen I think it would satisfy two major pain points with Scoundrel:

Defense Screen: Projects a defense field around yourself, which absorbs 100% of incoming damage for 7.5 seconds. If activated while in stealh; only AOE damage is absorbed and will not break user from stealth. In addition NPC stealth detection lowered.

With this change to a single ability I beleive we acheive the following:

    - Almost guaranteed use of SF --> We need SF everytime. If we can't open with this, the fight will not go well. The above amendment has a PvE and PvP element to it.

    - Increased surviveability --> In most of my fights if I had just that extra 3-5 seconds or so, I could finish someone off, or at least let me scamper and/or vanish. Sometimes i'm burned down so fast i don't even have a chance to escape.

    Thoughts?

  5. My biggest issue in group combat is trying to remain in stealth so I can use SF. I often find myself waiting on the outside of a group melee avoiding AOE damage and waiting for an opportunity to get in and strike. In a lot of cases I am removed from stealth because of AOE damage and thus lose the opportunity to use the ability.

To ensure we remain in stealth and have access to our most effective damage ability, I think we should be able to reduce the chances that we are affected by AOE damage while in stealth, either through the activation of an ability (i.e. shield probe while stealthed) or through dumping skill points into an existing passive ability to reduce the likelihood AOE damage breaks us from stealth (i.e. 50% for 1 point, 100% for 2).

    Thoughts?

EDIT: Realized I left an incomplete sentence.

  6. Well put together Ran. Thanks for your insight, always much appreciated.

I have to agree with the above posts that Scrapper was a blast in pre-55 WZ's. I was consistently burning down enemies (regardless of class) in a manner that I thought was intended for this class. 55 PvP has been an eye opener, and this class becomes very much a "utility" class in that there are specific roles you are limited to, i.e. Node capper, ball carrier (albeit not for long distance), and agitator (chasing healers but not neccessarily killing them).

I have to say my only saving grace is that I currently queue with a RL friend who plays an Infiltration Shadow. When we strike a targer together there is no stopping us. My heavy hitting opener with his back end "execution" damage is quite devastating and very fun.

We can only hope that a patch and/or expansion will address our survivability and perhaps provide one additional "exection" style ability to get us through that last 25-30% in HP's for those 1v1 battles.

In any event, i just completed my full partisan gear and have begun working on conquerer, I continue to play around with my stats and tactics and report back here with any findings.

    Thanks for all the support.

  7. Hi guys, looking to upgrade my RAM. Currently only running 4MB's at 1333Mhz's, looking to go up to 16MB's with ate least 1600Mhz's. I've been Reading reviews on Corsair Vengeance and Kingston Hyper X. Just wondering if any of you have experience with either of these or better yet both.

Please take in to consideration cost and performance.

    Appreciate your feedback!

  8. To be honest, it's hard to pin down a set rotation with the new changes (which i actually like). Rotation will be very situational based on what proc's and when.

But at a very basic level this seems to work for me:

    From Stealth and Blackout Active

Spinning Kick > Shadow Strike > Clairvoyant Strike (x2) > Project > Force Breach > Low Slash > Shadow Strike > Force Potency > Force Breach > Spinning Strike

I realize i'm using Force Potency late in the rotation, but it seems like a good time as it usually gets the target to below 30% which then gives Spinning Stike a better likelihood of finishing the target off.

    Thoughts?

  9. I'm an Infil Shadow an always use Cedrax when solo questing to provide heals.

Since 2.0 I've noticed that his behaviour has changed. He doesn't seem to be as focused on healing me, but rather he engages in combat quite a bit more often. In addition, when in stealth he is constantly detected by NPC's. They end up attacking him first which in turn causes us to break stealth.

I have disabled all of his combat abilities, i have confirmed he is in his healing stance, but he still seems to grab aggro and consistently uses his blaster.

    Anyone else notice this change?

  10. For your opener I'm pretty sure that Spinning Kick opener also grants Tactics for your first Shadow Strike. I'm guilty of just dumping Force inefficiently till I get below 30 though, because I'm loathe to watch my buffs closely.

Once you get down to sub-30, Shadow Strike won't light up till you have Tactics, anyway. Project will have 2 stacks built before it's off cooldown, and so all I'm really watching for is my Binding Shadows stacks to Breach. Even then, I mostly just have a feel for when to use it, as opposed to watching for the buff. I'm lazy.

    My hotkeys (1-4) are:

    1 - Project

    2 - Shadow Strike

    3 - Clairvoyant Strike

    4 - Force Breach

Then I basically just push whatever is lit up the farthest to the left. I'm sure my initial opener is probably not perfect, but once my Force is down to sub-30, it works pretty well. I wish Force Breach still had a cooldown, because then I would be comfortable that I'll have at least 2 stacks before the next use of Breach. As it stands, I just pop Breach after my Tactics-Shadow Strike.

Don't be lazy like me. Get better eyesight. (What I would LOVE is if we could have a highlight on the Breach button when we hit 3 stacks.)

I also thought I read somewhere that a UI feature was coming that would let us increase the size of the buffs icons. Makes it easier for healers to cleanse when in groups, and easier for us to see what's available for use.

  11. Force Potency gives 3 stacks of binding shadows instantly, if spec'd. so it's best to use Force Breach before you use project w/ 50/100% binding shadows proc.

    ^This.

I'm still playing around with it as well and ran only Ops last night and was using the following:

This is what I was using on Elite Trash Mobs, Boss rotatation varied.

    From Stealth:

    Blackout>Shadow Strike>CSx2>Project>Force Breach (usually at 3)> CSx2>Project>Force Breach (at least 2)>Spinning Strike>Force Potency> Force Breach>Spinning Strike> Project

Still messing around with it. Feels like Potency Should be used earlier but maybe its best to be saved for when energy is running low and stacks are harder to build.

I did find myself pretty much looking at my "buffs" a heck of a lot more than previous to 2.0.

  12. Thanks for the feedback guys.

So from the sounds of it, leveling as Sawbones is an option, basically get your companion in there to take on the mobs while I sit back and heal.

Anyone have any Sawbones builds they can post? I want to make sure i'm not wasting points.

    Thanks again for your help

  13. Hi All,

Looking at creating a Scoundrel and wanted some feedback.

Essentially I want to make this character a healer, therefore will be going up the Sawbones tree. Firstly I want to know if a Sawbones healer is viable in PvE. Alot of threads around here speak to PvP healing, however, I will primarily want to use this healer for PvE Endgame Ops.

For leveling purposes, which tree is best to dump my skill points into? Examples of Specs would be appreciated. I. In addition if you could post rotations it would help. I saw that resource management is very important for Scoundrel.

    Thanks guys

  14. Great guide, I just have a couple of questions.

Currently I'm almost full Rakkata, except for the following:

Head Piece - Black Hole Mk-1 Striker

Chest Piece - Columi Shell with Black Hole Mk-1 Striker Armoring, Mod, Enhancement

    Legs - Columi

    Feet - Columi

I'm not entirely sure how to proceed here. I currently have approx 100 BH comms to spend, but if i replace the legs or the feet, i lose the set bonus that comes with the Columi shells. Should i be looking at buying the Campaign armorings? Or is there going to be a period here where i don't benefit from the set bonus. In other words, should i be going full BH and not worry about the set bonus until i start to buy Campaign armorings?
