  1. (Feeling like a scientist performing demonic tests)

    Video comparison.

    Retail:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3OZv6TodX4&t=327s

    Proposed:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIMxC9EXfcU

Even despite the difference in video quality, I think the equally designed thin of the proposed, and acid oversaturated fat of the retail, are non the less distinguishable.

  2. I don't understand what Bioware is supposed to change. The appearance of lightsabers is affected by:

    * Your Windows graphical settings. What resolution are you set to?

    * Your monitor. How well does it render each color?

    * Your SWTOR graphics settings. Glow and other factors make a huge impact.

    * The color of the lightsaber. Some colors will appear to have more bleed or be more affected by nearby colors due to transparency.

    * The lightsaber itself. Not all lightsabers draw blades the same way.

If you think a particular color crystal looks too fat, you can change your graphics settings, but you can also buy an attenuated hilt. If an attenuated lightsaber isn't sharp enough for you, get one that is shoto. You can also find attenuated shotos and really make the blade thin and short.

Personally, I turn off the blooms and glows, then use an attenuated hilt.

Give that a try and see if it helps.

Settings have little to do with it, since I saw from other devices absolutely the same striking difference.

    Current Default sabers are:

    - Bi-coloured (White core, alien color, THEN the main one). This is especially prominent with bloom.

    - High opacity of colour corona. Results in making blade look like piece of plastic, rather then sophisticated energy weapon.

    - Inconsistent in presentation (Blue/Red/Purple are better, when Green/Orange/Yellow are wider, even in the core part. Like from different media.)

I'm aware that bloom softens the listed above visual bugs. What the next step we'll have to take to "clean up" after BioWare? Reduce resolution, so the big "FU" in the texture of weapon or gear piece will become unreadable?

    Doesn't seem right to me.

No, I won't use CM items, since they are the alien element in the base game. CM won't fix NPCs.

Beta Lightsaber art direction was much more consistent, and had non of the listed above problems, and should be implemented back

  3. Only one pair of those images shows something definitive(1) and easy to see. The pictures of Yadira Bann, Padawan of the Jedi Order(2) show the issue you're whining about, *and* you have words there to explain a bit.

So, if the original post had been:

then it would have been immediately clear what you were talking about. Our original complaint was that you showed us two different pictures of two different characters (one isn't even a player character - no Toggies for us in Beta) in two different lighting conditions with two different armour sets and a grand total of four different light sabres in different colours and you expect us to somehow divine that the difference you want us to look at is the fuzziness of one of the lightsabre blades.

But I still don't see what's *wrong* with the "after" version of YB, PotJO. All I *see* is that it looks different, but you cannot claim that either look of an entirely fictional device is "correct".

    (1) And of course we know nothing about the graphics settings on the two machines, the version of Windows, DirectX, or the graphics drivers, nor what graphics card, nor ... So it isn't very definitive either.

    (2) Why can't we have "Padawan of the Jedi Order" as a suffix title?

Check the link in my signature, plus some previous games, plus some movies, And maybe you'll understand why I can and continue claiming what is right and what is wrong. There's such thing as context - something that picky fans spot, and those who are casual - overlook.

    ..And BioWare.

  4. You got beef with any other color than green? Because while the green one does look a little fat in your pics, the blue one is fine. I use purple and it looks good as well. Same with red. I don't know about all the crazy ones or the hues in between since I don't use them and don't really care.

Otherwise speaking of color, the examples you link are a little darker and paler. But at that point you're splitting hairs. As long as it's obviously blue, green, red etc and not teal, cyan or pink, who cares?

If size is the issue, why don't you use the super thin blade sabers off the CM? I think they look too thin, but hey, to each their own.

Problems with colours (prioritised by how striking inaccuracy is):

    1. Green/Yellow/Orange are always thicker (even with bloom OFF). During beta this was less the issue it is now.

    2. All sabers have too high opacity, like made of plastic (especially with bloom OFF). During beta this also wasn't an issue.

    3. The whole point is that they aren't just "blue, red" etc - they are bi-coloured. (especially with bloom ON). It's even more prominent with colours from paragraph 1.

I can pick saber with thinner blade (though they're all ugly). But will Yudira Ban pick it also? Or Master Yuon? Or Arcann? Or Vaylin?

    Catching my drift?

    So I care.

Default setting needs polishing, overhaul. Not cheap "Cartman Market" plug..

  5. What an off-putting and toxic personality, how are you unable to comprehend that several people were just wondering more specifically what you wanted to be implemented into the game so they could give some feedback? Do you really think that your suggestion alone will ensure that anything gets puts into this game in terms of vanity items? Nah, loads of item have been suggested and implemented as players made an effort to make more people agree and get behind their cause.

You are doing the total opposite, guess what that means for your chances to get the item into the game?

    How flattering..

If to be serious, I always welcome the other's input and opinions, as long as it's in respectful form. Toxic? No. Mirroring? Yes, absolutely.

Concerning the lack of word description, that was an intentional safeguard - if people SEE it, then they will agree without my explanation. If they don't - no point in paying this thread the attention.

I better attract 5 fully supporting and understanding people then 50 sarcastic wizards.

  6. You are sadly mistaken. I made no such mistake. I thought I made a mistake once, but I was erroneously misinformed which ended up with a less than accurate response.

I am.. Mistaken by assuming that awkward sarcasm met with playful irony would accentuate the invalidity of initial counter argument offered by thee, but instead resulted in further pointless comments, hardly contributing to the main theme of discussion ;)

  7. And to keep things balanced, knights/warriors would then have to get project/force lightning, right? What about Ops/Scoundrels? Slingers/Snipers? Bounty Hunters and Mercs? The balance is already screwed up enough without giving a caster/ranged class melee abilities.

Clearly you haven't played Sorcerer/Sage much, since otherwise you'd know that the proposed idea on the contrary would make sorcerers/sages the easier targets then they are (since they have to stay in one place and CAST saber strikes). Other classes will sure not suffer.

Despite that, I love the idea. It's purely aesthetic, and perfectly goes in line with "Ranged - channel and cast; Melee - Insta-smashing" mentality (Old "Master Strike" and "Old Ravage" are channelled abilities).

So don't worry about your Alpha-WZ status - Sorcerers/Sages are in s**t deep enough, and the proposed Idea, PVP wise, if implemented, will push them even deeper.

    But still: /signed

  8. You needed to say more because it wasn't obvious what you were complaining about. There have been many, many, many complaints about the size of lightsabre hilts over the last six years, and so on. If you want to complain about something and you want to cite an image as evidence, you *still* have to use words unless it is something like I had one time with a "Missing Material" thing on a piece of armour. But even then I used words.

And yes, I *do* have eyes, and they *do* work, but they are not mind-reading tools, so if you want us to know what specifically you are complaining about in the picture, you have to tell us with GDMF words.

Shh.., it's ok. I'm sure when they'll patch Jawa's hoodies to be pink instead of brown, you won't notice a thing.

  9. DISCLAIMER:

Don't suggest using CM items or alternate hilts! Thread is about DEFAULT, REGULAR, STANDARD items, forming the core game design and art direction, and their glaring, long time known problems.

    This

Do I need to say more?..

EDIT (Needed to say more, as if the picture wasn't obvious enough in it's statement):

Return beta-look of lightsaber blades, with right balance of Core, corona and transparent outer glow..

    "Cartman-sabers" back to Light-sabers

No, Cartman Market won't help, since NPCs will further exist with ugly fat, hand-drawn-like, saber-blades.

It must be nothing less then complete overhaul. Or maybe, you'll introduce bug fixes in CM as well? EA "Challenge Everything" after all..

EDIT 2 (Adding 2 more images and waiting for a miracle..):

    ..This

    ..And this

  10. Story-wise though, it would make more sense for the different classes to have different looking lightsabers. Its a narrative thing. When a Jedi builds their weapon, its meant to reflect who they are as individuals. When every class has the same exact saber, it breaks the immersion. And not everyone can get a cartel saber so it would be nice to have varying sabers.

Nah, dude.. Narrative-shmarative.. Only Cartel Market. I, actually, propose to rename the game from lame and no-0ne's favourite "Star Wars" to "Cartel Market: The Old Discounts".

    (I'm sorry, I had to.)

  11.

Thanks for the links. I'll include them all in my video.

That;s why it's unacceptable! "Green and Blue" is like "Tom&Jerry" or "Guns'n'Roses" - undividable concept. Classic Jedi saber colors.

Also, I once again want to emphasise for everyone that Cartel Market items WON'T FIX NPCs!. No matter how many greens you release, Tal Braga, Udira Ban, Green Jedi, many others, will still be wielding this horrid abomination of green saber..

How THIS can be an improvement over This..?
