    Opinions of 'The Old Republic': From a serious Star Wars fan

    I have been playing The Old Republic for over 90 hours now, (about a week) and I love it. It is well worth the money I've spent so far, and after I run out of story content, I think it would be worth the subscription just to be in those environments. There are plenty of things to do if you are a Star Wars fan. I don't get many of the negative comments. It costs a lot of money to produce the amount of content that BioWare produced for this game, and it is their right to make all the money they possibly can--because that's why they're in business. There are plenty of options for participation, if a player wants to go all out, they can. If they want to just keep it casual, they can do that too. Choice is good.

     

    I put more of my comments at the below link, which is quite lengthy. But in short, I think this is one of the greatest games ever produced, and I've played a lot of them. I hope BioWare and everyone involved with The Old Republic makes a lot of money and enjoys great success from this game as it matures in the months to come. I have enjoyed it enormously, and I don't see any end to that in the near future.

    One planet is not an expansion

    Tell me where they said they wouldnt continue class stories.

     

    You are assuming a hell of alot here. They are obviously saving up the class stories for a full fledged expansion.

     

    Hence why this patch should not be called an "Expansion". We've been scammed.

    First off I don't think FTW means what you think it means, FTW mean For The Win. Also you only need 4 pieces to get a set bonus so you can keep one piece without a set bonus, also the top tier stuff in game and anything released after them the set bonus is bound to the armourings not the gear shells.

    So I just bought the new Jedi outfit, then it hit me...

     

    This is character bound! **** did I just buy this crap? It becomes completely useless at level 50 as Tier set bonuses does not apply to customizable gear.

     

    Please make it Account Bound so I can give it to one of my alts.

    It sucks that BioWare has to go back on what they said, but we have to show some understanding. We can't expect free expansions from a free to play game; that's an unrealistic expectation on our part. Switching to the free to play model is a huge change, and we can't expect every promise made before that shift to hold up.

     

    The price of this expansion is roughly half the price of a new WoW expansion (and half again if you pre-order as a subscriber.) So long as it provides us at least half of the content of a typical WoW expansion, I don't think anyone has a right to complain that they're charging for it.

    Yes, Bioware has shown were their loyalties lie when they chose to sell grade 7 ship parts for money. Expect there to be no new schematics as long as the cartel market is around.

     

    Indeed. Time will tell if they go full blown P2W. They have proven them selves to be liars many times, I would not be surprised if they back up on their own words that said they did NOT want this game turned into pw2.

    All mounts are now account wide for WoW, the ones from the store have always been that way. But the update before the Panda xpac they made all mounts account wide

     

    Yeah, they actually made stuff in wow that could be bough for cash worth it. In SWTOR, you have to buy **** for ALL your characters.

     

    Cash n grab folks.

    I makes me sick to the stomach thinking about it...
