Your expectations were based on what? Where were you led to believe you were paying for early access? I have yet to see a single source anywhere that claims anyone was paying for early access. EGA was presented as a possibility of *up to 5 days* early access. Of which, ZERO still fits. Also, it was presented as a bonus, not as anything you were paying for. In all cases I have seen, you were paying for pre-ordering the game. EGA was a possible bonus, nothing more.
I bet your expectations were misaligned with reality.

Oy, no, but the number of people in a given area at one time WILL. For some reason, there are some people on the internet that just refuse to think beyond the exact words written.
Yes, very true. Sorry if I misunderstood. Was just trying to help and be perfectly clear!

Seriously? Crying about a name? Do you have that name under some kind of patent protection that applies to VIDEO GAME CHARACTER NAMES?
Unbelievable.
-
First: the number of people logging in does not impact your framerate (but may impact your latency).
Based on what little information you have given, I would say you need a better video card and *maybe* more RAM.
Things you can try:
Running the game in full screen mode can really help framerate (FPS).
Turn off shadows (in TOR, they seem to be terribly hard on GPU)
Stop all background tasks (such as browsers, as they hog memory)
Defrag your HDD, especially if you have less than 4GB of RAM, as you are likely to be swapping to disk a lot.
-
Your laptop likely suffered from video issues everywhere and HDD speed issues when traversing zones.
This new proposed machine is ok, but you wont be running the game on max with that video card. Sadly, the game has high demands on video cards right now. Regardless, this will be a very obvious improvement for you, assuming your ping to the servers is decent.

Even google translate didn't help me with understanding this post.
I am going to guess that this is a mash up of internet lingo, tweet-speak, leet-speak and English as a second language. There may also be a healthy dose of lazy in there as well, but I cannot be sure. Ponderous indeed!

Strange how their was a thread this morning from an EU player complaining that Americans do all the complaining.
Let go of the US and THEM conspiracy and you actually be viewed as a bit more mature. But for now, you are added to the list of clowns (referring to the OP).
-
There's been no train wreck. Just a lot of self entitled complainers.
This.
If this was a train wreck, I was a fool for liking cake and ice cream. Bring on the trains! Chooo chooo!

People who go Empire and complain that there is not enough Republic are the same ones rolling dps and complaining that there are not enough healers.

I support this idea. It is good to be on a healthy pop server for pvp and rp reasons. However, Queues are starting to make me cringe.
Just concerned, not freaking out, not calling for an "Occupy Bioware Datacenter", and certainly not calling for a class action lawsuit. I just want more servers for our healthy RP-PVP community in the East US! Props from Detroit!

I can't believe that there is still a handful of people trying to change the meaning of "up to 5 days". It boggles my mind.
I set an alarm to wake up in the middle of the night, just so I could pre-order and show my support to Bioware. I knew all along that I may not get early access. Why? Because I read and understood the meaning of "up to 5 days". ZERO certainly falls into that explanation.
Go join the other clown who wants to start a class-action lawsuit and the turd who wants to occupy Bioware. That makes three of you.
I am now resorting to *begging* Bioware forum moderators to swing their ban hammer at some of these people who think they deserve to be first in line for a party when they showed up late.

Bad troll! No cookie!

They are instanced ! It does not matter if there is 1 person in the area or 1000 you are only going to see a handful of people because the zones are instanced, when you cross into another zone the game checks and if the current instance is over populated it will create a new one for you or put you into an existing one with few people in it....
How can people have played the BETA and not even understand this ? The game even gives you a tip whilst playing telling you how to change the instance your in to find friends who could be stood right in front of you.
Keep in mind most people don't understand that their "Server" is just a name for a group of machines working together, of which it is entirely possible that several or all of them are not even physical machines at all. I tried to explain the concept of a database cluster using a caching SAN to a forum troll yesterday; big mistake.
Most modern computer concepts are way over the heads of typical forum trolls. I would be surprised if the typical whiner-troll could understand instancing either.

Staggered launch has been excellent for balancing loads behind the scenes as well I bet!
Excellent work Bioware!

There was a chance, when the game first released for preordering. Your chance decreased every day from that point forward.
Since they could not predict preorder numbers, they can't sit there and adjust the "Up to" to 4, then 3, then 2 then 1 as they go, as they can't see the future.
You see, we humans are what is sometimes called "3 dimensional beings". We are incapable of perceiving the 4th dimension, time, in anything but slices. Second by second.
Due to our limitations as 3rd dimensional beings we cannot "See the future".
I know, tough concept.
Careful Yfelsung, trolls seek food, not logic. You are wasting energy on these whiners. I made that mistake earlier...

Never played an mmo at launch before.
You misunderstood the original comment I quoted, and my post as well. Nice job.

I'm so angry that my neighbor makes a mil a year and has a hot trophy wife. Well, I guess anger isn't really the emotion I'm feeling...
Subtle, profound and spot on.

I know the vsync option itself is only enabled (allowed to be changed) when in full screen mode. Maybe you are in windowed mode?

Would be even better if the incessant whiners were hit with a ban hammer so hard they forget how to game at all.

Last night disproved this statement. Please go away.
Show me the stats. I also want to see stats on how it is better to flood a barely used infrastructure over steady controlled load balancing on a virtual machine farm. Show me.
Show me how it is better to hammer IOPS through a barely tested disk sub-system over steady ramp up while measuring IOPS and attempting to smooth out loads using cache heads via SAN or DB farm load.
Go ahead, I am waiting. Show me that bursting the load is better.

All I heard was, "I haven't been waiting for this game for the last 5 years like some people, and joined the forums only two months ago, but I believe that I should still be able to play at the same time as those that have earned much more than I."
This a million times over. Some have followed this game before it was publicly announced; watching forums daily. If anything, their devotion deserves early access (assuming they pre-ordered asap as well).
-
Peak load times are in the evening, when people get home from work and school and typically after dinner hours. Just because the invites go out, does not make everyone log in right then.
Release of access does not hit the servers until peak hours.
A bit of critical thinking would help you, if you tried it. Hourly release makes zero sense.
-
Oh come on. Really? The release was yesterday for all intents and purposes.
Personally I'm not raging about getting in late, but its still annoying and something they shouldn't have done imo.
Can we stop the fabrication of new realities please? Launch is the 20th and has been for months. What is going on now is a perk for those who showed early adoption and commitment by putting up cash. This allowed Bioware to plan server sizes, hardware and to plan the launch.
Just because you were unwilling or unable to pre-pay in the first week does not mean the release date has somehow magically changed.
Ramping up load from 0 to 2 million players on a barely-tested infrastructure is a GOOD thing. Slow and steady ramp up allows for reactive-balancing in all areas of the infrastructure. Without it, we could find ourselves with a bottleneck that impacts everyone.
Stop being so narrow-minded and think for a minute.
No armory and no way to link in game characters to forum posts ?
