  1. Please show me what part of this law says they must get you in before the general launch of the game:

    Goods

Retailers and other such suppliers guarantee their goods will:

Be of acceptable quality (see definition below).

Be fit for a particular purpose that you asked about.

Match the description given in advertisements or sales brochures, or by the sales assistant.

Match the sample or demonstration model.

Be owned by the consumer, once purchased.

Be a reasonable price, if no price or pricing formula has been previously agreed.

Manufacturers (the definition includes importers) in New Zealand guarantee that:

Spare parts and repair facilities will be available for a reasonable time.

They will honour any written warranty that comes with their products.

    Goods are of acceptable quality.

    Goods match their description.

    Services

Service providers guarantee their services will be:

Performed with reasonable care and skill.

Fit for the particular purpose they were supplied for.

    Completed within a reasonable time.

A reasonable price, if no price or pricing formula has been previously agreed.

    Acceptable quality

    This means goods:

Do what they are made to do.

Are acceptable in appearance and finish.

    Are free from minor defects.

    Are safe and durable.

The Act's terms "reasonable" and "acceptable" are deliberately open-ended. It depends on what a reasonable consumer would think was acceptable based on the nature of the goods, the price, and any statements that have been made about the goods. A concert violin is required to meet a higher standard than a child's cheap instrument. Ultimately a tribunal referee or a judge may have to decide what is reasonable or acceptable in the circumstances.

If a defect was pointed out to you before you bought the good, then it doesn't count towards making it unacceptable.

Please show me a single thing in that list that indicates they have to give you access before the game launch. I dare you :p. You won't be able to, because it doesn't exist.

No offense, but this thing from New Zealand is practically the same as it is in the United States, btw.

Hey, don't blame me, my friend told me this. IIIIIIIIIII didn't do it! LOL

  2. Exactly this.

    I'm not against staggering, but

    1) They should have told us earlier, and

    2) There should have been an e-mail with our specific wave date/time. The lack of communication (evidenced by the clustercluck on the forums/twitter/internets) is not acceptable and, quite frankly, is a worrying start to SWTOR. Here's hoping all communication isn't like this.

    /agree

We should have definitely been told about this beforehand. And if some of us don't get in by the games launch, there will be hell to pay.

  3. When I pre-ordered nowhere on any pages did it state it was going to be staggered....where did it say that on any page during your pre-order process?

This is kinda true. It might have motivated people to order earlier or at least give notice that this was going to happen. Complaints are warranted about this: they've had years of development on this and there is just no reason why they can't handle an infrastructure like this now. We are "only" talking about maybe a million. That other game has 10x as much.

  4. inb4 cry and ib4l

Just putting this out there, Bioware is the first company in MMO history to do this staggered early access system (smart companies just let everyone in... RIFT did it just fine with around 750k preorders by simply adding servers... I played for nearly 15 hours straight that day [nerd squad])

So this also makes Bioware the first company to tell you to screw off and wait LONGER to play their game even though you paid the SAME amount of money (if not more) as other players whom get to play first because they happened to pay first.

Essentially what Bioware is saying is DON'T PREORDER OUR GAME AFTER AUGUST OR YOU'RE JUST PREORDERING IT SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY LATER AHURRHURRHURR. With NO confirmation of the lowest amount of EAG time possible (I'm going to assume it will be a minimum of 4 days for EVERYONE including those ordering in Dec) they leave open the possibility that you could preorder today and get less than 12 hours of EAG time. Seeing as you pay 5.00 for EAG time, there is no reason to pre-order at this point and pick the game up 5.00 cheaper off Origin on the 20th.

Tell me how this is not a brand of social elitism at it's finest?

Like I said, inb4 'cry more' 'troll' 'nerd'

I know I won't get in until the 15th + as I pre-ordered on the 19th of August, I'm not upset about that as I didn't plan on getting in until then anyway. If I get in later than that? I'll probably be upset.

I have to agree that this staggering is idiotic. They've had a ton of time to prepare for this; development has been going on for years. I can't imagine why their server and network infrastructure couldn't be able too handle a million.
