  1. Or you could put your big boy/girl undies on, grow up and find something else to do while they fix the problem when the server goes down. You could even go... OUTSIDE! I know it's a scary concept, but you should try it. The sunshine will do you the world of good.

But honestly, it's an MMO (even if BW likes to pretend it isn't) and these things are guaranteed to happen from time to time. So instead of throwing a tantrum like an entitled five year old next time it happens, you could try and do something constructive with your time.

  2. Customers have the right to give feedback asking for changes to the game you don't like. You also have the right to give feedback on those requests saying you personally don't want those changes. That doesn't give you leave to personally attack and harass people suggesting/requesting changes you don't like, however, since that's against the forum rules. It doesn't matter the reason you use to justify being toxic... you're still being toxic and should face consequences accordingly.

What I think he meant is threads like people demanding a character purge to free up name options simply so they don't have to be forced to use their imagination and think of something else instead. Just because someone beat these people to a name they wanted but haven't played said character in who knows how long doesn't give them a right to demand BW to purge dormant toons, and deserve to be called out on their selfishness.

At least that's the vibe I got from it.

  3. I know he's not an LI in the traditional sense, but I really would have liked to have seen more interaction between Jonas Bulkar and my trooper. Jorgan hadn't really appealed to me that much, so I always found it amusing when he'd disapprove/get jealous of the harmless flirting that unfortunately led absolutely nowhere. Besides, guy troopers got to knock boots with Jaxo, so it only would have been fair to have a little fling with the smart arse spy for the ladies.

Oh well, at least there's always head canon...

  4. But every time a companion is given the option of being killed off they cut their dialogue in future content.

If you can kill a companion they don't bother writing future content for that comp.

Going by that sort of logic, every character in Mass Effect 1 and 2 that could be potentially bumped off in some form or fashion shouldn't have had any content in 3. But they did, because there's also the chance for them to still be alive, just like there is for Jorgan and Kaliyo.

Just because a companion can be killed off, doesn't automatically mean they will be killed off (not all of us play like dark side lunatics that want to murder everyone for the smallest perceived transgression). For those with a surviving Kalyio and/or Jorgan, especially if they were romanced by players of the relevant classes, it would have been nice to have them involved somewhere in the story as more than just irrelevant background characters that anyone from the ridiculously large stable of collect-and-forget companions we've acquired over KOTFE could have filled.

  5. It surprised me that Vette and Torian out shone Kaliyo and Jorgan in KOTET, it's not as though Vette and Torian didn't get a chapter in KOTFE as well. Perhaps originally they were bringing back other characters but scraped it and defaulted them to Vette and Torian to play the roles instead.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. I can only imagine how ripped off the agents and troopers feel about having next to no screen time, let alone playtime, with them as the active companion. I know that may seem like a small issue to some, but small things have a tendency to add up. It honestly just reinforces the idea to me that in comparison to last years part of the expansion, Fallen Empire was a bit of a rush job in terms pacing.

  6. I find this a bit funny. Everyone seems to think "Character got more writing than I wanted, must be a writer's pet."

Vette likely got more material, because in Vanilla she got more material. Gualt gets more screen time in vanilla than Torian.

While I agree with you about the 'writer's pet' observation, I have to admit that I found it odd that any toon outside of the Warrior had that option to ask specifically about Vette's welfare instead of their own potential LI. It's not like we got to spend a lot of time with her specifically between chapter 14 and Iokath, and she hadn't really done anything significant up to that point either.

My guess is they were cutting corners where they thought they could get away with it, and that's what we were left with.

  7. Don't happen to have copy of that letter do you? Ive been curious about it.

    Here you go.

I don't normally get sentimental, but I need to say this. Figured if anyone could understand, it'd be you.

Things happen in battle. Choices get made. People die. I get that. I'm not blaming anyone. Things like this happen. I just never thought it would happen to Vette.

Not sure how much she told you about our time together, but she was the best business partner I ever had. Quick on her feet. Never panicked. No matter how bad things got, she knew she'd find a way out. And she always did.

There was something about her--an energy, an enthusiasm--that infected everyone she met. I've been running cons so long the game had gotten faded and dull. But when she and I joined forces, it was like everything was bright and shiny again.

And now she's gone. I know she gave her life for a cause she believed in. I believe in the Alliance, too. I guess that makes it better in some way. But it sure feels like the galaxy has gotten a little dimmer now that she's gone.

  8. I found it more enjoyable than a good portion of kotfe's story, however it did feel a little rushed overall seeing as it only has half the chapters (and it doesn't look like we're getting any more), like they just wanted to get it over and done with. Despite the striking similarities to Ilos, I probably enjoyed Iokath the most. A little more exploration before the confrontation with the AI would have been nice though. Having all the comps conveniently in one spot instead of finding a few on our own was kind of anti-climatic.

The biggest nitpick I have would be the Virmire choice in chapter 8. While as refreshingly different as far as BWA storytelling goes, it also felt more than a little pointless the more I thought about it. Hunters and warriors (for the most part) would naturally gravitate to their vanilla companion over the other, and the rest of the classes haven't had that much interaction with either choice outside of the respective chapters that introduced them to care either way. If both had been sent to secure an objective on the battlefield that would have somehow impacted the story later on, then it would have been worth while. As it stands now, it's killing one off just for the hell of it.

  9. I don't know about you, but my eyebrows definitely went up at Arcann's post-victory e-mail where he said something to the effect of "I have my mother, I have the Alliance...and I have you."

Could it be that there may be a romantic rivalry in the next expansion?

I saw that line more as that he might see the Outlander as perhaps more of a mentor or potential friend, and he was grateful that the player chose to believe in his ability to change for the better. It might be a personal thing, but I just think he needs stability and people who are willing to watch out for him in his life right now more than anything, and he seems like he's smart enough to realise that.

Besides, while I can't speak for other agents, the idea of the playful 'spy vs spy' headcanon game with Theron is just too much fun to give up for anybody.

  10. Let's just hope they do this for the missing companions . Otherwise , it won't be fair.....(and I have a huge list of 'you gonna die next!' lol )

I'd be up for that. Prime example I can think of would be Quinn. As much as I forgave him for his actions in the Warrior's story, I know there are plenty out there chomping at the bit to put him down, and that's ok as it would fit in with their DS play style, so I'm all up for them finally getting that chance.

I like how this particular choice worked in the story though. Simple fact is in a big battle you won't be able to save everyone, so I'm glad they put in a little dilemma like that (even a little surprised tbh, we all know how some people like to get outraged with every decision BWA makes, whether said outrage is warranted or not). I'm not sure if we'll get to make a similar decision in the future though, as where they can take the story now with the endings we have? It'll be interesting to see where they go from here at any rate.

  11. I'm just annoyed that they didn't have the option to split up, sending my current companions to save Torian, and myself going to save Vette, or vice versa. I'm patient, I can fight without companions for a while if it means I don't permamently lose one.

I personally found it refreshing. It's a choice that actually has some form of consequence for a change, a'la permanently losing a companion, not unlike choosing between Ashley and Kaiden in Mass Effect. If we could save all the people all the time the story would become incredibly dull, and there's nothing more boring in a story than the perfect Mary/Marty Sue who saves the day every single time without any repercussions.

  12. The majority of my toons are female, actually, so I know how that goes as well. Luckily I actually like most of the LIs for the ladies (even Doc to an extent. He's like some sort of weird, amusing amalgamation of Bruce Campbell and Hawkeye from MASH, so as cringe worthy as he is, more often than not I find myself giggling by the sheer amount of dialogue cheese), so I haven't really had much of an inclination to knock them back.

I don't know if it's just the fact that my head canon has my Bounty Hunters somewhat older than Mako so she slips into the unofficial younger sibling role, or if it's just the way Tom Spackman delivers the lines, but it just always leaves me feeling somewhat dirty to a degree hearing him flirt, and not the good type of dirty.

  13. I think Quinn will be back sooner rather than later just because I can see the Dev angle now, "Re-sub and kill that companion you've been hating on for years and years but only if you re-sub now! Go on get your revenge, re-sub now!"

    You misspelled Skadge :p

I can understand why some would be pissed at Quinn's betrayal, but the man was essentially stuck between a rock and a hard place, so I personally couldn't stay mad at him. That's not to say both my Warriors didn't let him twist in the wind for a little while before giving him the forgiveness he craved.

It's been a while since I did the Consular's story, so I had to Youtube it to refresh my memory of Iresso's problem. While it would certainly be interesting if they somehow managed to implement/resolve it in his chapter somehow, I'm more inclined to think the writers will just sweep it under the rug and forget about the whole thing. Considering that there are only three people aside from Iresso in the entire galaxy who knows about its existence, it would be a pretty safe bet that it wouldn't really be a problem.

  14. I just don't want to have to wait ANOTHER year to get them all back. I don't know how they're deciding which romances to bring back first, but they need to speed up the process.

While the cynic in me wouldn't be surprised if they did drag it out longer than they should, the reasonable part wants to believe that they wont procrastinate reunions any more than absolutely necessary. Unless they're really a bunch of masochists and actually enjoy the player base abusing them over this particular topic of course.

  15. Having recently replayed the Gault/Vette chapter I hate to say it but for me it seemed as though Gault really outshone Vette when really it should have been the reverse.

To be fair, Gault was the brains behind the entire operation, so it would make sense that he had more of the spotlight over Vette. While everyone in the chapter played their parts to pull off the heist, none of them would have been there at all if he hadn't come up with the plan in the first place.

I feel like the best way to avoid that would be to have both LIs have a critical part in the chapter. Using the example above of Andronikus and Corso working together- Andronikus is the captain and gives the orders and so is communicated with frequently, but Corso could be a temporary (before being permanently recruited) companion on a mission- they both get equal time and equal importance to the chapter. I feel like that would make fans of both romances equally happy.

If something like this does happen, I suspect BW would balance out the time you spend with each fairly evenly. For example you do the first part of the mission with Andronikus, have the interlude moment with your significant other (if you're not a smuggler/inquisitor, or they're an un-romanced companion, you have a general chat with the one relevant to your faction), and then finish it up with with Corso. Who you end up recruiting at the end could either be done by defaulting it to whichever faction you're on, or you pick the one you want and the other becomes unavailable as a permanent companion (choices can matter!).

  16. If they run with another 16 chapters, I'd actually expect more LI's to show up for this new season of the story. I think the reason why so few returned during kotfe is because half the story had to be spent getting off Zakuul/settling Odessen before you could go and do other things. Now that we're settled into the galaxy's most poorly hidden secret base, we can spend more time gallivanting through space collecting our wayward loves.

Maybe we'll get lucky and some chapters will have more than one LI at a time. With all those that are still missing, there's so much they could do with who could team up with who while doing their part to annoy the Eternal Empire.

  17. Some of them want to use you.

Some of them to get Vieux-Boulogne.

I don't have much in the way of knowing cheese names and puns.

I had originally thought the way we'd be getting comps back would be through chapters and then we'd have daily zones to run a weekly or grind a reputation for to get the companion.

Ex. To go Akaavi and Torian, you had to help the Mandalorians in a daily zone (I was thinking pre-KotFE release that it would be Dxun) like in KotOR II when Exile was doing things to convince Mandalore to join her/him (I know Obsidian is not BioWare, but it was the general idea) for a while with a reputation that would be legacy wide. (Bounty Hunters would recruit Torian first, Smugglers would recruit Akaavi first, and then work to recruit the other, while the rest of the classes would have to work the full worth to recruit both)

So first character through would grin the weekly for two weeks' worth + 14 sets of the dailies, the next one would grind the weekly for one week + 7 sets of the dailies, the subsequent ones would require only running one set of dailies and the weekly (which would be the full single day's worth of dailies like in other rep zones).

I could easily see Risha, Corso, and Mako doing stuff together (Mako hired on since she's a genius slicer and stuff) and then running around Dubrillion to get them and stuff as well.

Didn't turn out like I thought it would be, and I'm kind of disappointed.

They're not so much puns but part of a parody of a Eurythmics song. If you feel so inclined, google 'Sweet Dreams Are Made Of Cheese'.

I was a little surprised and disappointed that Akaavi wasn't part of the Mandalorian chapter. While the rest of her clan my have been wiped out, that doesn't mean she automatically stops being a mando herself, or at least that was always my interpretation of it. They could have done something a little different with it, like making you choose which companion goes to Odessen with you, and the other would then stay behind with Mandalore. But then I suspect that if they did go that route a certain group of the player base would complain that they want both and it's not fair to have an either/or choice.

While I'm not a big fan of rep grinds myself, it would have been nice to have a bit more content outside of the story than what we ended up with. Anything would be better than rehashing 5 year old heroics that don't even make any sense doing them any more since the player character is the leader of a cross faction group. I can't see anyone following someone who goes on this spiel about putting differences aside and working together to defeat a larger threat, only to turn around and attack your part of the faction in different locales. It just felt incredibly lazy to me. I want to be out there sticking it to Arcann and company, not wasting my time trudging out to Hoth and dicking over the Republic who's been doing the same thing for five years.

  18. Sweet dreams are made of cheese, who am I to dis a brie?

I cheddar the world and a Feta cheese

    Everybody's looking for Stilton

Sorry not sorry, couldn't help myself... Back to the topic.

As someone who also mainly plays for the story, I enjoyed probably the first 8 chapters. But as they dragged on it started to feel like a chore at certain points, a good chunk of it being straight out filler, to the point where the only characters I can stomach to take through the same chapters is down to about two before a sense of tedium sets in.

I think a part of it might lie in the number of LI companions they have to bring back so everyone can get their little reunion scene, so it kind of gets in the way of the main story. Maybe a good way around that would be to bring in more than one companion per month, like they did with Vette and Gault. Say have Quinn and Elara find themselves in a situation where they have to work together when the Alliance finds them (the fact that Elara is a defector could make for some potentially interesting dialogue between the two). Nadia and Kira could be doing covert jedi things, but are dissatisfied with how things are going and are looking for a better way to liberate the Republic. Risha became queen, but she and Corso could be up to subtle shenanigans of some description. With the amount left to bring back there's quite a few combinations they could go with, and everyone finally gets to be happy just that little bit quicker, then have BW go back to ignoring the fact your character is in a relationship entirely and all will be right in the galaxy.

  19. Unfortunately all you're gonna get from Elara after completing her quest chain is complete silence until they eventually get around to bringing her into one of the future expansion chapters.

Personally I'd like to see a chapter with both her and Quinn somehow having to work together. Both are big on rules and regulations, and the fact that Elara's an Imperial defector could make for some potentially interesting dialogue between the two.

As far as your marriage ceremony, kids, maybe a space house with a white picket fence... welcome to head cannons, my friend.
