  1. I don't know why you're so quick and willing to just admit defeat. If it's a legit parse, you should be defending it. If it's doctored, just admit it and move on. All these dps threads are turning into "who can cheese harder" threads. Everyone is obviously going to have their own opinion, and since you have already quit your guild and begun belittling people, you are strongly demonstrating guilt. If you want some credibility and truly want to show you are legit, post another parse with somewhat similar numbers. That way everyone can see your "normal" parse without fluke inconsistencies.

    ps. parsing is super important

  2. Your own words.

As you say, there is no argument.

Once again, you ignore my "fluff" of proving how you are incorrect, and cater to your own personal agenda of how it would "break" the class so badly. You are claiming that since they "once had great damage with a lack of mobility, they don't need mobility now." Do you realize how retarded that sounds? No one is going to complain if you have to walk to a target to do more dps than everyone else. The problem is they currently don't do more damage. Are you saying vanguards don't need a damage buff or a gap closer?

Please show me your 4k vanguard dummy parse.

PS. I wasn't aware pvpers had boss immunity.

  3. In all that fluff you merely repeated it all back to me.

And agreed with me that the gap closer is not an issue at all and VG have no mechanical failure by not having a leap in PVE.

You simply want MOAR DPS and don't really care how you get it, at the moment you think a gap closer will do it while ignoring the issues that would cause in PVP combined with HTL and Harpoon.

But the baseline is you want more damage and with more damage all other issues will be unimportant.

As for the gratuitous slurs, I have a 55 VG and a 55 slinger and a 55 commando, would you like to make some more vacuous claims on what I say based on that or will you realise you are agreeing with what I said.

You aren't reading my posts at all. I just gave you two examples of why not having a gap closer is a problem, do you need more? Before that, my suggestion for a gap closer would not even apply to your argument; it would have no influence on pvp at all. The entire argument is based around the fact that vanguards aren't on par with other classes in movement or damage. If I didn't care about pvp, I would just say make storm baseline and buff high impact. The solution is to buff the dots for damage, and my suggestion for a gap closer. Of course this is going to have a minor effect on pvp, I'm not saying it won't. The idea is to buff pve while having minimal affect on pvp. There's no point in even arguing with people like you,

  4. I completely agree that many people will see their dps increase if they dont have to learn mechanics and can simply leap to the boss when it moves.

Mind you this is why sentinels have a reputation of being CC breaking idiots who have hilarious deaths as they jump to adds pushed into a pit because a leap allows and encourages less consideration of a fight.

Of course this is all a perception problem as a developer once said and I fully agree.

When your class has great damage it overrules any other issues it has.

When it's not the best at damage then its ok to moan about anything.

Assault Commando is utter garbage as a PVP class, it takes more damage than Gunnery and doesn't bring the raid useful armour debuff, but who cares, it does the dps and its pve where you dont need to be good at anything other than basic movement and your rotation.

In other words, if damage was improved on a VG people would shut up about gap closers because it wasn't an issue when VG were the best DPS and nothing about movement has changed since then.

You clearly don't get it either. Vanguard dps could compensate for melee unfriendly mechanics because they did have the damage. Now post 2.0, they don't have the movement or damage ability. You claim a gap closer would allow vanguards to "bypass" fight mechanics by just leaping to the boss. I have bad news for you. You clearly don't play a vanguard, so let me tell you how it really works. Nightmare fights have an incredible amount of rng. Bosses and adds have random spawns, and therefore cannot be "learned." There are numerous examples of this, but you should go do nightmare olok and brontes on a vanguard dps and get back to me. Even if you knew where the boss is going to spawn next, you lose damage if you aren't in melee range. The perception problem would go away if they were on par with other dps classes in a raid setting, yes. A gap closer would help to compensate for the lack of sustained damage, by maximizing the uptime on a boss. The perception problem lies with people that don't understand how a class really works.

  5. Not having a gap closer does make me lose dps in ops, despite what you all say. Giving a gap closer in pvp would basically break the class, yes. To fix that, all you have to do is make it so harpoon pulls you to the target if the target has boss immunity. Before they do that though, they should be buffing assault dots and nerfing charged bolts. If you don't think dps vanguards could seriously use a gap closer in pve, you clearly don't pve.

We have two immediate openings for our core 16 Man team. We are looking for an experienced tank (highly prefer guardian), and an extremely talented ranged dps. Having gear is a definite plus. For the tank role, you should be familiar with all current content and prove you are as good or better than our current tank. For the dps spot, you must be a top 50 DPS on most fights on torparse, or have the ability to prove you know how to bring the dps in one raid. Going into the nightmares, you should be extremely talented at both dps and mechanics.

On a side note, tactics still sucks in case you were wondering.

  8. I run 8/22/16 on:

    CZ, Grob

    2/22/22 on:

    Nefra, Draxus, Bestia, Cal

    4/6/36 on:

    Raptus, Tyrans, Brontes, Dread Masters

I run 110 crit from my earpiece right now, but I plan on buying the power/surge earpiece. If you run 2/22/22, you should definitely have a little crit. I plan on trying 8/22/16 on my 2/22/22 bosses next week. The extra bonus to mainstat from my FR relic in 8/22/16 seems to be pretty decent so far, so I am most likely going to just run full power. Crit rating kinda sucks with 8/22/16. I dummy parsed a couple times with the new relics and 8/22/16 is significantly better now.

    Up to you I guess

  9. For the record, I didn't write or help with the vanguard guide. There are a couple things I disagree with, but all in all it is a good start. I still run 2/22/22 on a dummy and the majority of ops bosses. I run 4/6/36 on fights like tyrans, raptus, council, etc - more mobile fights.

I notice a couple fairly major things.

Looking at your parse, your apm is low. On a dummy you should be between 40-41. Your damage percentages are off. Your rail shot should be around 20-22% of your damage while your flamethrower should be somewhere around 18-20% (depending on procs). You are using rapid shots way too much, which suggests you are running out of energy. You aren't really using IM enough, which alone is like 200-300 dps. If you are going below 4 ticks constantly your dps is going to suck. My suggestion would be to focus more on proccing rail shot over flamethrower. Also, you aren't really maintaining your dots (IM mostly). You should at least have gut and IM up all the time, if CGC falls off just try to get it back up asap (they really need to swap the proc chances around). Gear is definitely part of it, but its not everything. My much worse geared powertech can hold 3200 on a dummy. If you have a specific question I'll answer it, but I'm not really a fan of guides. The more you practice the better you will be.

  10. Dear Hatstandard,

Torparse is all about numbers and allowing players to compare with other competetive raiders. There are certain fights that have numerous adds, and ultimately benefit from more aoe based classes and specs. If you had an experience in this ops with a parser you would realize that. I post parses that are realistic to me and my guild. I am going to assume you are a casual player if you think high parses are unrealistic (especially in 8 man). The point of this thread is to post as high of numbers as possible, so I am at a loss as to why you would criticize torparse. Adds are meant to die in fights, if you are an effective dps you will be killing them as fast as possible. If you ever have a constructive comment regarding torparse I would kindly direct you to send an email to feedback@torparse.com. If you have a problem with adds dying in operations, I would advise you to stop raiding until adds are removed from the game. If you ever decide to use torparse, please let me know how the weather is down there.

    Sincerely,

    C-tor

  11. Just so you know, it really isn't a rotation, it's more of a priority system. Everything is situational and dependant on procs. When the stars align you will have super high numbers. Also, in the majority of these fights position is everything: when to save cooldowns, pulse cannon, burn phases etc. The thing that kills dps the most is if you fall below 4 pips and don't have a recharge cells or a way to get back to 4 pips (free stockstrike + high impact proc). Also regarding dots, you aren't going to maintain them always unless its nefra or something. You should definitely make an effort to have them up as much as possible. Your priority should be #1. 4 pips, #2. Gut, #3. 6 second high impact, #4. Other dots. It's just a matter of pushing your energy to the absolute limit while maintaining a fluid use of skills at the right times.
  12. So you play a vanguard, but you want a nerf? Just because it will encourage a major buff? Please. Shadows have been consistently needing of a major buff to sustained damage since launch, and that still hasn't been addressed. The upcoming changes will unlikely make them competitive. If they kill off vanguard hybrids, they need to dramatically buff full trees (which they wont, we all just have a perception problem). Your request sounds good in theory, but in reality would just gimp the class further and lead to numerous unsubs - including mine.

    Therefore /notsigned.

  13. Finally :p

Do you think Hybrid is still better than the full DPS trees of VG's? I thought the recent changes to Assault and Tactics were to make Hybrid obsolete?

Honestly hybrid is a lot better for almost all of these fights because of the amount of adds, and the single target damage is significantly higher than the other full trees.

On a side note, I would like my ion pulse to proc 100% again rather than stockstrike. Hitting something with a rifle shouldn't catch it on fire.
