  1. Shhhhh! You can't list a feature from SWG on these forums without attracting haters, let's call it something else maybe that will throw them off...LOL.

Would be a great idea here cept they'll have to get our ships off the rails to do it effectively.

  2. You all must also understand that a ton of new player $$ that comes in are from people who never played either Kotor game nor read any books but loved the films and GCW era or new trilogy, They just see "star wars" and grab it based off that and the fact that this is the only SW MMO out there. Nothing is more important to a game company than new player subs. So yes I think they should cater to both.

I do agree with the OP. Simply stating that the timeline is the reason those things aren't here is kind of thin. Did Naboo and the other planets not exist 4000 years before Vader? lol. It'd be cool to see Wookies or Mon Calamari as a player race along with the other kotor ones.

I think they could add these things without throwing the game off track IF done gradually. I don't think they should "stick" to either one rigidly imo but expanding the races in this timeline would open up more for players and give new players things they recognize to make it feel more (pun here swg vets) "iconic and star warsy".

  3. but i'd surely like to know a game that offers the same and -better- as you claim. Because i've been looking for that since SWG was shut down in favor of SWTOR. So, what games are there that beats SWG's resources minigame, crafting, space pvp, open world pvp, City and Housing and Interior Decorating?

Haven't seen one yet (they are too busy doing the old WoW copypasta) and not one of them has even attempted to duplicate the skill system of pre-NGE or the player bounty system.

I'm enjoying 2.0 because it's nowhere near the NGE in any sense. I logged in today and didn't get a Dev message that said I had to pick a new class because mine didn't exist anymore = not like NGE.

  4. I wish the SWG fans would go find an emulator or something and cease clogging up the SWTOR forums.

Actually this thread was made to necro-bash a dead game (perhaps to troll). Also mostly all of the responses are people who are going along with the OP in that. I wish the Swg haters would quit and let it die too...while I'm at it the lottery looks promising.

  5. I appreciate both games for different reasons. Swtor for the combat, story, cinematic feel and pacing.

Swg for the sheer amount of options it gave the players, JTL of course, the very original skill system pre-nge(which has yet to be surpassed in an mmo), and more.

As for the alternatives all the people who hate swg keep rambling on about...

I actually have the EMU windowed as I'm typing this and here's reason why it's not my swg clone of choice...I wasn't fond of pre-cu and having all attacks qued to auto for me, one of the reasons I liked CU preNGE as they took that out.

Unlike the original Swg, you get a whole lot of nothing to start you out with and I have yet to find a quest to take.

So getting your character to progress at a reasonable pace is way more vague and difficult than the swg that I played.

Also while it's been around awhile now, it's still in test = they have periodic server wipes, no thanks.

Secondlife isn't even a game, it's a basementdwelling bored married persons match.com, if they are in the market for catfish, long distance online dating and poseball pixelsecks. Swg had themeparks, events, quests, instanced heroic dungeons, among many other features that has been listed by others. And not to mention Swg didn't have the very negative RL social stigma that SL does.

Swg wasn't perfect but it was original and diversified.

  6. I played SWG and loved that game, i Loved having a house but even more than that I loved my Mining ship the decorated into a wicked awesome pirate ship, complete with a cantina (with live cantina music; thanks TCG)

There are some valid points for not having houses

SWTOR planets are not open planets with vast amounts of space, so where would we put them...? - Exhaustion zones? Perhaps they could open those up and expand a bit or add another planet that is open for it.

Now there is the option of instanced housing, similar to how we all have private hanger bays but on different planets. I find that to probally be the most viable option. - That may be true given that BW loves instancing so much lol

So, I dont think that it's that people feel, "I dont want it shouldn't be here".

I think are several factors to consider in other peoples responses

    1) Alot of people have not experienced that type housing so its not a big deal to them. (they missed out IMO) - Good point and I agree

    2) People remember the littered planets in SWG, SWG had epic music that went along with the view and day/night and weather changes, but your view was always obstructed by houses. It got real weird at the end when i would look out out the desert planet of Tattooine and saw Kashyykk Tree Houses everywhere. Again I agree to an extent, keeping housing theme based per planet and non obstructing would be key here. or an open planet where there's quests etc but not in the same areas as the housing maybe an instance like how you enter a story arch that moves you to that area. I surely remember the vacant cities and cluttered view/abandoned harvesters all over the place.

Anyway, its not that people dont want to see them at all, its that they dont want to be poorly implemented or affect the world in a negative or cheesy way.

Thanks for the constructive reply:) I too want to see it done the right way. Just a ton of posts I've read cannot offer anything other than what I listed. I surely don't want it to end up as rubbish as SWG housing turned into. If they keep it neat and out of the way, I think many would be cool with it.

  7. 2. Nonsense talent trees

I agree here. A non-cookie cutter skill system in place of a the copypasta talent trees from other games would be amazing. Still to this day, no game has come close to the skill system pre-nge SWG had, you really had to ask a person what they were to know, couldn't eyeball their actions and go "oh that's a <insert class name here>".

  8. The arguments against player housing and the reasons why they are invalid:

    1. We have ships - Ships aren't a house on a planet.

    2. I don't want it so it shouldn't be here

    3. BW can't do it, can't afford it - No player has this info...period.

    4. I don't want it so it shouldn't be here

    5. SWG is dead and go play SL - Yes Swg is gone sure, SL is all of one and none of the other, outdated and nothing to do there. Also HUGE money sink. And lastly it's not SW and that EMU sucks.

    6. I don't want it so it shouldn't be here

    7. I want bugs fixed and content added. BW doesn't need to pull Dev power away to do this - While the first part is true , given the fact that no player knows what EAware has as limitations if any, they can do it if they choose to.

    8. BW said it's never going to happen - Link or it never happened. It's possible that player cities aren't coming, cities are a different thing.

    9. I don't want it so it shouldn't be here

    10. It can't be done, can't work in the game- Oh really? we are getting another planet in 2 weeks. They can easily make another that supports player housing if they can't get rid of exhaustion zones on existing planets and put areas for that there, logical enough for you?

    11. isn't realistic - protip: video game.

    12. We don't need it. - We also don't need vanity pets, chat bubbles, mini-games, vanity mounts, reputation, achievements, cartel items, world events, a barber shop, adaptable armor for appearance, or anything. Doesn't hurt anything or anyone to give the players more options and QOL.

Basically the ONLY real reason behind the people posting against player housing is that they don't want it so no one should be able to have it. But please, go on hating:p like the LFG tool debate, the people that didn't want it here had no valid reason except they themselves didn't want others to have it.

  9. - Chat Bubbles (That you can toggle on/off if you want)

    - Possibility to lean.

    - Possibility to sit chairs.

    - Player housing. (Even instances like our ships I would be glad to have that)

    - Ship and housing decoration.

    - Guild Capital ship.

    - Dye for armor.

    This and add in...

    - More ships/ability to have a different ship or to buy one

    - Guild dailies/quests/levels/rank etc you know.

    - UI color changer (unless I missed it)

    - Ability to use UI Mods

    - Appearance tab

    - Ability to save and swap armor sets

    - Multi-passenger mounts

  10.

i found it great.. it brought people together...everyone was nice and social..why youw ant to make it fishy?

    EDIT

SOME people found it an exploit to break the weekly reputation limit by using a purple boost at the last few points... just to get the gree weapons faster.. almost all of you were using this technique.. when they said its exploit you all said " NONONONO its no exploit its just beng smart"

now people can powerlevel and you al come here and QQ.. lol

It's normal gamer hypocrisy. They don't like it so no one else should be allowed. I didn't do this but I will next weekend to PL the toons I won't spend the majority of my time playing. But it's nice to have them up there in case I need one to fill a spot.

  11. I just want to state the obvious and say that Disney did buy all of the Star Wars product for 4.5 billion dollars.

I think it's a safe bet that they could shut this game down and afford the lawsuit. If they wanted to of course (not saying they will mind you ^^ ).

True, they always settle out. They get sued all the time.

  12. Yeah, first off 1313 isn't cancelled, so where you got that information I couldn't guess.

Second, EA wouldn't let Disney near it's stuff.

Until Disney buys EA that is. If they can take LA, ESPN, ABC, A+E, Marvel etc. Buying out EA would be chump change to them.

Former rat-world employee here, they LOVE to break contracts and down stuff on a whim. Watched them do it in RL quite a bit even when what they shut down was making $$.

Not doom and glooming it but it is a real possibility
