  1. Still no fix for Blood Hunt's first boss on hard mode? Seriously?

On my server people just leave the instance as they enter it when it pops via group finder. Battle of Rishi is getting a lot of fixes and it's not that hard to complete.

Also, reverse engineering of greenies from the new planets gives an error and we lose the item and we don't get any mats

  2. I'm running iOS 7 and can't claim the same. I had to remove and redownload the app to get it to stop crashing. Even after that, going into the app will let me get my security key generated... But then the UI is unresponsive for the next time I need to go in to generate another security key. There is some glitches so ymmv.

Is reinstalling the app enough or you had to remove and readd the security key on your game account?

  3. They should have done that all along. If you are wearing partisan item or greater, then no bolster. If you are not wearing at least partisan, stats are hard set to partisan level expertise and -5% other stats

That and removing bolster from RWZ. Doesn't make any sense having bolster on ranked. If you queue for ranked the expected is to have PvP gear. If you don't: too bad for you!

    • Using a bolstered PvE item should never be better than using the corresponding Partizan item

This, if by "corresponding" you mean same slot and not same item level. By any means should a PvE item, whatever the item level, should be better than Partisan. If it's an item of superior level, it should be scaled down stats wise in order to never be better than any PvP gear!

  4. Or you could be smart and not waste your breaker on the shorter stuns.

Sorry, man. That argument doesn't work any longer. You know that there are situations where you really need to break it. When your enemy stuns you and another is almost finalizing the cap what do you do? Let them cap on your face or you just break it as a last resort to help your team? Is that kind of situations I'm referring to. You could be more polite and think a little bit before just quoting someone to call them dumb.

  5. We don't need a stunbreaker reset we just need our stunbreaker have value. Is totally stupid using it, because you have to in order to interrupt a cap, and you get stunned again. Result: your stunbreaker value = nothing! At least fill our resolve or give us stun immunity for some seconds.
  6. Nice list Kilora!

While the exact details of which features will make Game Update 2.4 are still being hardened I can definitely say that Cross-Server Queueing is not in the plan for it. We've taken a hard look at Cross Server Queuing in the past and accomplishing it is a *significant* challenge that would take a lot of time away from other things we are working on. Emphasis on significant. It's not forever off the table but it's not in the plan right now.

Even though it is too early to share specifics I can say that Game Update 2.4 as it is being worked on right now has features and changes that should cause a significant improvement of queue times for ranked Warzones in particular. Emphasis on significant!

I could write a big, well structured answer to this but I'd be risking a tl:dr so I'm leaving the wall of text to my fansite. Here I'll just say that after all we've been through, treating pvp players like 2nd class citizens is just sad. PvE will have a summer full of updates and PVP players will have to wait for next Fall to have something which doesn't include X-server warzones which should be the priority. I always respected every dev decision on this game, as I respect this one, but this time it's really, really disappointing. I can explain why but not with having sure that someone who should read it is really interested, I'm not going to waste my time.

  7. Hey everyone,

I apologize for the delay in response but I wanted to understand exactly what happened before commenting. Here is what transpired and why your dyes ended up BoP.

As you know, when 2.1 went live the intent was that the CE vendor would have two exclusive dyes. We unfortunately released them as not being BoP, so that wasn't the case. As soon as we caught this the Cartel Market team created a bug fix, that bug fix was to have the dye modules correctly be BoP.

After some thought, we discussed with the Cartel Market team and determined the best course of action would be to leave the dyes as is. This way you folks could have something you control the market on! Then on top of that, make sure in a short timeframe to get new dyes added to your vendor which would be BoP and be exclusive to you. Once I had that decision in hand, I came and made the post which all of you saw explaining exactly that.

Now the question of what happened today. Well, as you can tell, what was originally a bug (dyes not being BoP) was fixed, even though it wasn't supposed to be. I am not positive where the disconnect happened but unfortunately that bug was addressed as a part of 2.1.1. I take full responsibility for this, when reviewing the patch notes for 2.1.1, I didn't notice that change was in there or I could have potentially caught it before it went live. Feel free to blame me for that one!

Looking forward, this is what we are going to do. We meant it when we said that we were planning to leave those alone. We will be removing BoP from those two dyes in 2.2. Currently the plan is you will see two new dye modules going on the CE vendor with Game Update 2.2.

    I apologize for any confusion.

TLDR: A bug fix unfortunately happened after we decided to leave it as is and I didn't catch it before it went live. In 2.2 they will revert back to not being BoP and in our current plan, you will see two new BoP dyes on the CE vendor.

It's because of statements of this kind that you, Mr. Musco, are the best community manager that this game ever had :rak_03: Hats off to you, Eric, and thanks for the explanation!

  8. UTC = GMT right now, so they're actually in GMT. We will use UTC from now on to prevent confusion between GMT and BST.

To all the European peeps that might be confused:

UTC is the right thing to call these days.

BST = UTC + 1 between end of March and end of October.

CET = UTC + 2 between end of March and end of October.

  9. Here are some screenshots of what I see. It does seem to be an issue with willpower items for me as well and they are all from Makeb.

    Screenshot 1

    Screenshot 2

    Screenshot 3

    Screenshot 4

This is a strength item that I can RE

    Screenshot 5

That's exactly what I was going to post to give more info about this issue.

Amber, as I told on Twitter, and the pictures above show as well, some items that require level 49 and 50 have this issue as well. I don't remember if drops from Flashpoints are in the same state.

  10. Hi there folks,

This thread mentions a couple of things, and I want to get some clarification about what our Synthweavers are experiencing. Is the tooltip mentioning that you need a different Crew Skill to Reverse Engineer, or is the info blank on each piece that you're having trouble with? Can you give some specific item names, please?

As a side note, the "Insufficient Skill" issue was fixed with Game Update 2.1, so please be sure to mention if you are seeing this still!

Thanks in advance for your information, and we'll try to get to the bottom of it and get you and update on a fix ASAP.

The pieces of armor with willpower appear darkened when RE mode is active, like any other item that can't be reverse engineered. From the top of my mind, I think this only happens to gear dropped on Makeb. I guess the one crafted by me can be RE.

I can't remember what the hover tooltip says but I'll update this thread once I get home.

  11. Actually I wrote my original post yesterday, and waited until today to actually post it, after moderating it a bit. I also tried to state that I'm not really yelling out in frustration, but I do want the devs to hear my opinion, and by using the forums to this purpuse, other people might join in on the debate.

I do disagree that these posts are pointless though, I write in the public forums not only to make the devs see the activity, but also to gather impressions from other players such as yourself. Who knows, maybe I'm missing something important in my reasoning, what better way to get a better picture of the situation than to hear from others?

That being said, I'm not quitting the game yet. I still have 88 days as a subscriber that I intend to utilize. After that I'll probably continue for a while as a preferred player, and who knows, maybe I'll resubscribe at that point? I really do like the game, I just don't like the signs I'm seeing.

They became pointless due to their big number and, usually, low quality content. Your post might be clean, well thought, educated and polite but, as you can see in this thread, many people just let it fall inside the rage quit posts bag. There are so much entitled attitude since day 1 on this forums that many people just start to filter out these kind of posts, devs included.

I too, would like to pay game currency for body cosmetic changes but I understand perfectly why BW decided to go this way. This game is the result of people's work ran by a business. It must make money. Paying for this kind of stuff is a way they have to monetize the game for the F2P players while protecting the subscriber covering the expenses with the monthly CC bonus. Like I said, you can easily get 600CC/month but you have to manage them like you do your real life money.

  12. What amazes me more is that most of these quitting threads, which are pointless per se, is that they are always based on a tantrum caused by the prejudgement that something in someone's mind should or should not be the way it turned out to be.

I'm sorry guys, everyone has the right to his/her own opinion but coming to a forum and write a post just to throw wood into the proverbial fire just doesn't work anymore. Feedback is important when made wisely; "enraged" feedback is pointless.

The monthly amount of CC is more than enough to make some basic cosmetic changes (hair cut, eye color and such). Are you so unsure of your choices that you'll need to be performing cosmetic changes every day? Before screaming about having to spend coins, learn to manage them. A regular person will only spend money on cosmetic changes from time to time. You have the time in between to gather coins or spend them somewhere else.

If paying for character re-customization is what makes you leave a game, I have to tell you that you don't like the game enough and you should have left before.

  13. Basically you are saying Blizzard is getting lazy too. I am not getting Pandas but previous expansions had raises of 10.

Cataclysm had only 5 levels too. I didn't get the pandas as well but I'm sure it's only 5 levels increase. If Blizzard is getting lazy... well on Cataclysm I can't say that. They revamped the whole game. For end gamers it might have seemed not much but as whole the thing was big.

Back to SWTOR, as I said, the F2P conversion delayd a lot of things, Makeb included. Just looking at the F2P conversion and cartel market, I can't say it was laziness. Sometimes it would be so great if people understood what it takes to make software.

    Cheers!

  14. My other issue is that the level cap is only being raised by 5 levels. If It is a true expansion and not just some random update with new content. Then why are we only getting five levels. Its pointless to us that as a selling point. When other MMO's release an expansion its at least ten levels. This it sad, to say the least. Many players will hit the level cap on other planets before they even touch Makeb. Also the fact that Makeb isn't having any Class missions just side quests. Kinda erks me as well. Its like they just wanted to get this announced and out before the end of the year.

Also another thing that kinda worries me is that there hasn't been a single Dev that has posted on the forums in a while... Yeah I understand they get a holiday break, but come one its a game people even some of the devs play it... Or was that just City?

To conclude my personal opinion. Getting five more levels along with a planet with only side quest missions. Isn't worth ten bucks. Oh and just to let those of you know. All of this along with the Cathar were supposed to be released before the end of the year. So we all have to wait another 3-5 months. For this to even come out.

Come again? 10 levels? Even WoW's latest expansions only had 5 level increases. What's so wrong with that? And you don't even have class quests there anymore. I think your building a storm in a glass of water.

Also, the devs might not feel the need to jump into the forums so often once they reply to questions on a regular basis via the community team? I saw a lot of posts from Amber or Courtney stating "I asked <insert dev name here> about <insert subject here> and he told bla bla bla".

A lot of planned stuff have been delayed because of the F2P conversion and that sucks but it's what we have.

  15. Heh, irony is we proposed this few years before release, BWs idea to make leveling (replayability) interesting by introducing much better quality class quests AND you can hit max level by just doing class story was very good.

We proposed (begged as the time passed) to them they make endgame much more sandboxish because "classic" endgame is stale and has lost all appeal over the years, imaginary carrot by chasing next pair of pants that will make you uber is archaic and people wont stay subbed for THAT.

Of course, forums were filled with so called "MMOers" that insisted game must be made exactly like WoW or its failure from the start (oh the irony) and somehow BW budged, not even just for endgame but for leveling too, as we got crapload of generic low quality MMO quests, quest hubs and what not, and class story is miniscule part of leveling, without any consequences or anything lasting.... It made replayability dreadful.

At one point (now in distant past) BW said that there are 2 kinds of games (Theme park and Sandbox, they called them "Game" and "World") and that they are making a hybrid. Wonder where BW from that time is?

I know, eaten by EA and corporate greed so we got subpar WoW clone that, as expected, failed.

    *some more foam* rawr

I like this game, I really do but if BW want to keep it running for a good while, they'll have to introduce some sandbox elements. One or two planets where factions, through players work, could build structures for resource gathering in order to build other kind of buildings and items would be sweet. This mixed with PvP battles which the outcome would be to get some more land to expand would be much appreciated!

This resource gathering + building would be really nice to get guilds doing it in order to build the long waited capital ship or ground bases. With time, will and creativity so much can be done in this game!

The Operations and Flashpoints are still ok in order to provide galaxy wide story progression but more is needed to keep players engaged in the game.

  16. Some aspects of MMOs are done better using sandbox features. some aspects of MMOs are done better using themepark features.

The best MMOs will use both sandbox and themepark features to achieve a great MMO. The worst MMOs will only focus on one approach and will only appeal to a niche market.

For example, storytelling is best done using themepark features, i.e. quest arcs. These are preprogrammed, often linear quest arcs that tell a pre-defined story that engaes the player. Its nigh on impossible to achieve the same effect using sandbox features and thus the best way to tell a story is to use themepark model.

However, world pvp is best done using sandbox features: give the pvpers the tools to make world pvp meaningful and they will do it for years on it. You can't achieve this through themepark features (i.e. warzones) because eventually people get bored with the repetitiveness.

So, I look forwards to the day when a AAA MMO is developed that embraces both sandbox and themepark elements. The main challenge for whichever developer decides to do it is going to be accessibility. Lets face it folks, SWG had some *great* ideas, it was a beast of a sandbox, however it was monumentally complicated to get in to and enjoy. As a result, most people didn't like it because they didn't get it. The same is true for most sandbox MMOs: the features are good, but the games are not accessible to the masses. Sandbox MMOs typically require a hardcore playstyle and there simply aren't enough hardcore players. The first developer to make a sandbox MMORPG that is accessible to the masses will have a winner.

So true! You nailed it on the head!

IMHO, the best approach is to go the themepark way at the begining of the game (the story and such) and then smoothly introduce the sandbox features. This way it will be easier to get the players into the game and stay there learning as the time passes instead of dumping all the sandbox stuff and say "you're on your own".
