I'd been saving the convos for those NPC's for GS weeklies ( do 15 mission for x class ) and have the counter up, and they don't always tick off.

I just went through every single conversation with Treek and HK-51 and every single one of them counted towards the GS Weekly to complete missions on Warrior/Knight and Inquisitor/Consular characters. Even the introductory conversation when you pick up Treek in the Cartel Bazaar on the fleet counted towards that objective. I even confirmed that it is independent of whether your character is max level or not and whether that character has already finished the Origin story or not. So it is definitely something on your end.

Sometimes.   Not all of Treek's or HK's count towards the GS objectives for me on my Sith Inquis and Sith Warrior weekly

Then you are either doing something wrong like using a different Origin Story character without realizing or it is a bug, because all the conversations from Treek and HK-51 work fine for me.

  3. Yeah, as interesting as the stream appeared to be, but I switched it off as soon as I realized that those codes were one time uses so only viewers with scripts and without any stream delay could scoop them up.

Totally ruined the experience and put into question Broadsword's decision making process.

why not wait when its december then its the yearly 75% discount event for the collections again or it was 50%.

It's 50% and the second Collections unlock sale in the year after Star Wars Celebration in May is usually in November during Black Friday and not December.

See where I'm going with this? If we add 1 style then we need to add 15 more styles and 48 more specializations.

Yes, I see where you are going with this, but you are reaching with your conclusion, because you are adding redundant parameters that are unnecessary for the discussion here.

The op is talking about a new Tech Combat Style with 3 specializations that can use a melee weapon. No need to add 15 more Styles and 48 more specializations because of that.

  6. Unfortunately, with the upcoming move from BioWare to Broadsword Online and the downsizing of the team by 50%, the chances of finally getting a new Combat Style has decreased considerably.

It's not impossible and I'm curious what the team will do with the game after 7.6 is out, but I am not really expecting major feature updates to its core systems.

  7. This thread is far more interesting as an example on how some people are padding their arguments to become impervious to criticism and thereby making those arguments impervious to a discussion than the actual topic itself. But to give the benefit of the doubt to the op that he is actually interested in a discussion:

Here is concrete proof of how BioWare announced 7.0 and the implementation of Combat Styles:

News article about the LotS expansion from 07/01/21:

    https://www.swtor.com/info/news/article/20210701

Nothing is stated here that you can mix and match weapons and abilities from different Classes, only that players can separate their Class Story from gameplay style. This is where the misinformation wildfire was set by parts of the community just by assuming that they can do that and thus running with this assumption without waiting to learn about the specifics.

    Dev livestream from 07/02/21:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQYB2SU6H1g

After showing a diagram of how the new system will just decouple Advanced Classes from Base Classes, former Creative Director Charles Boyd goes into detail and says at 16:50:

"So now if you wanna be a Trooper but you wanna use two pistols, now you'll be able to do that. The way you play a two pistol Trooper? Depending on if you pick Gunslinger or Merc, it'll still play the same as those two Advanced Classes roughly do today."

Again, no word about being able to mix and match weapons and abilities from different classes, just that your Trooper can now pick Gunslinger or Merc as a Combat Style.

News article about the Separation of Story and Gameplay from 08/06/21:

    https://www.swtor.com/info/news/article/20210806

And again, no word on being able to mix and match weapons and abilities from different classes and another reiteration of the fact that they will simply decouple former Advanced Classes from Former Base Classes and name them differently.

The only thing where they were disingenious about the new class system and had to backpaddle from an announcement has already been mentioned by SteveTheCynic in this thread. They initially told us that we would be able to change our first Combat Style, too. This was even stated in the above News article and they had to retroactively change that portion of the text, because they were unable to give it to us due to "technical reasons". That's also the reason why they decided to allow existing Force characters with opposite alignment to swap their first Combat Style to the opposite equivalent after the expansion was live.

  8. Yes, it is the only one that changes your roster on such a fundamental level. There are some other instances later on where you need to decide between two companions or whether you want to add a companion to your roster or not, but not on the same level.

The biggest consequences you will face when skipping to post-KOTET straight to Ossus are the decisions of whether you want to save Vette or Torian and whether you want to kill Arcann or not. The game will autopick the outcome according to your faction allegiance.

  9. BioWare definitely never lied to us regarding dual classing. They never said anything about mixing and matching two classes and their abilities and were upfront about how it would work simply by separating Advanced Classes from Base Classes.

It was always just the players who didn't bother to actually learn about the changes to the class system who purported the dual classing myth and tried to blame BioWare when they realized they were wrong.

You can blame EA and BioWare for many things that went wrong with this game, but definitely not the dual classing misinformation. That one is totally on parts of the community.

  10. Well, in the announcement for the livestream on here and on Twitter they only talked about the new game update and not about any celebration for the May the Fourth week. And afaik they need to patch in any events that are not part of the regular event schedule.

That's why I am confused about the lack of information, considering that they would then only be able to start the May the Fourth celebration with a patch next week.

  11. I'm sorry if I missed it, but I've checked the dev tracker, blog posts and the news and I don't see anything about a Collection unlock sale or a double XP event to celebrate the Fourth of May.

So have you decided to just skip it entirely this year and we only got the new pet to celebrate the release of Jedi Survivor?

  12. I have an Nvidia RTX 3090 with 24 gb RAM and an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor running on Windows 11 Pro 64-bit. Even I get the occasional texture flickering bug, so system requirements are not the issue here.

For me it's only happening inside of flashpoints and only midway through the run. I just ran Boarding Party and it happened again after I had no issues during the earlier three runs. Towards the end of the flashpoint the flickering stopped again and everything went back to normal. I guess something must be wrong with how the 64-client addresses the RAM on the graphics card.

  13. Without even looking at the pictures, I know exactly what you mean. I had the same issue with the world textures completely vanishing while moving the camera or the character during the later half of the flashpoint.

At first I thought it meant I have corrupted game files, but you confirming this issue makes it clear that it is an issue on their end.

  14. I think the immediate dismissive reaction to that objective is quite typical here. I actually really like this objective, because it is something completely different and contemplative than the farm quests and it adds new places to the environment where you can meet and sit down with strangers. You know, being a community in an MMO.

The only real issue with it is the already mentioned 10 minute cooldown timer that does not run down when your character is not logged in. That is dumb indeed, but I still give BioWare the benefit of the doubt and change it just as they have been changing objectives in past Seasons.

Yes, it's 100 objective no matter how many points each one of them grants. So you need to do 100 objectives. If you rushed and did harder (and group) objectives which reward you 12 points and finished Galactic season much sooner you will obtain the 800 points total needed to complete the season but not 100 objectives to get the achievement. This achievement discourages you to try harder objectives (and makes the daily 25k conquest objective and login reward pointless, they don't count too). If someone tries hard or plays in a group (or PvP) and gets the 12-points objectives (to finish GS sooner) they will still be required to do more weekly objectives just to get the achevements. Similar to not so useful reputation: incentive to grind...

They count but players aren't incentivised to finish GS sooner (by completing 12-points objectives and the daily login/25k conquest objectives). To get the achievement we need to do 100 objectives even if we finished the season long time ago (weeks or even months if these 12-points objectives were completed). This is just a cheap way to encourage grind and staying in the GS game even after total of 800 points are acquired...

So? It is an achievement that rewards players that are committed to playing the game on a regular basis and engage in both solo and group activities. No min-maxing, no exploiting, no botting needed to get ahead of the pack. You just have to commit to playing the game and doing those objectives. It is also entirely optional for bragging rights and if you do not care for the commitment, you can just finish the Season track and begone.

It's the same ludicrous argument that came up when they introduced Login rewards and people complained that in order to get the highest achievement, you have to log in for 500 days. Oh how dare they give us some optional achievements for the grinders...

  16. It is not offered to you because by accepting the Inflection Point quest you skipped the entire KOTFE/KOTET expansions and the game auto-picked your choices. The automatic response is to not insist on getting the title.

So if you want that title, you have to go through the entire KOTFE expansion yourself and play the Disavowed chapter without skipping ahead. Therefore you will not be able to get that title anymore on this character, because you cannot change the outcome retroactively by playing the chapter again. Sorry.

Now that I'm done filing my taxes today, I could be bothered to find some more threads, but I don't. Trust me when I say the devs didn't one day magically feel so bored sitting around a conference table thinking "we need to hide exploration missions, even from newbies."  Players wanted those to not show.

No, I will most certainly not trust you on that one.

Especially since it is completely inside BioWare's ballpark to change it simply because of their misguided attempt to streamline things while they were overhauling the quest system and removing Heroic quest givers from the game all the while ignoring the negative feedback they have been getting ever since.

Forgive me if I don't feel like vomiting out the every thread and every convo that I Googled and searched for, but that is the gist of it:

    https://forums.swtor.com/topic/803703-skipping-side-missions/

People didn't want to play them, more people didn't want to see them, Poof. Hidden.

Forgive me, but I don't see a single comment in that entire thread where someone says anything about the need to hide side missions by default. All they are discussing is whether side quests are necessary to stay on level and the benefits they might or might not have other than xp.

That is exactly what I remember and I don't see any reason given by the community as to why the devs felt the need to hide them by default.

  19. 3 hours ago, xordevoreaux said:

Players are the obscure reason. I remember quite clearly back in the day people screaming for them to be hidden.

Then you remember it very differently from me. Can you find some old threads and comments where people demanded from the devs to hide the side quests by default?

All I can remember is people rightfully asking BioWare to make it clearer which quests are story missions and which quests are side missions, because back in the day they were all the same yellowish quest markers. Which they did change by color-coding them with purple quest markers.

I don't know if it's been suggested already, but it's something I've been wanting to post here for a while.

It has been suggested numerous times ever since they overhauled the quest system to distinguish purple class and planetary story missions from regular side and exploration missions many years ago. But for some obscure reason the devs seem to think that having the exploration missions switched off by default is the way to go.

As far as I know they have never given us any justification for that decision other than a general explanation not to overwhelm new players with too many side quests that are not needed for leveling.

So... if you have an Assassin, who's currently dark side, but also have alts who have touched dark V and light V then take the 'training in the force' mission, you'll get *one* option, namely to pick a second combat style from any of the other seven force combat styles.

Does your Assassin have to have got to Light I, or does it merely mean that you have to have any light side points, i.e. taken at least one light side choice in the game ever, irrespective of your current overall alignment, in order to get the two options, namely to change your primary combat style to Shadow *and* select a second combat style from any of those seven.

Does this also mean that if you pick your second combat style and then later change force alignment, you no longer get the option to mirror your primary combat style, or would making yourself eligible cause the quest to respawn later?

Or does this merely mean that the first time you log in a force using character into the post-7.0 client, the quest will spawn with those options?

In order to get the option to swap your primary Combat Style to the opposite side, your character has to have at least one point towards the opposite alignment and it's not irrespective of your current overall alignment. Let's say your Assassin is full Dark 5 and wants the option to swap to becoming a Shadow, your character has to make light side choices until you have balanced the alignment all the way back to neutral and went at least one point towards the Light side. You don't have to reach Light I, one Light side point away from being neutral is enough.

Once you have completed the 'Training in the Force' quest and picked a secondary Combat Style for your character, you will not be able to swap your primary Combat Style anymore, because doing that is directly tied to that one-time quest.
