  1. Yeah I did skip the side quests. So should I just go do some of the quests from the other guys then? Because I thought that you maybe got forced to stay at that level due to level ten supposedly having the lightsaber and all so they wouldn't have wanted me to level up and get a lightsaber before then.

Yeah, do some side quests. You're just a bit low for the quest at the moment. At 8 or so he will be a lot easier to beat.

  2. With the DK coms, buy yourself an orange blaster. They are level 16 and you can keep it updated by changing the mods in it (same with your chest). Also, you might want to look into the odd armor items on the equipment comms vendor.

The Hutta coms will just rot, as there's nothing to buy with only 5, nor anything worth the time to farm more comms

I don't know what all you can buy with the fleet coms, but the vendor for them is on the Fleet, pretty close to the speeder vendor. Just do more space missions to get more of those.

An easy way to get coms is to do the daily heroics on the planet. After you get your stuff taken care of, then switch over to your companion. Once again, she could use a better blaster, and the other armor items that are sold by the DK comms vendor.

Pretty much, I use coms to buy armoring, hilts/barrels, mods and enhancements. Other than that, I will just buy stuff to either sell on the GTN, or the odd item I might need to flush out a full set of orange gear.

  3. I kinda liked Baras too. He wasn't a Grand Moff Kilran (who is so freaking awesome it defies mere words), but Baras was still decent. A pudgy conniving Sith Lord. What's not to like? Only problem I had was no matter how much **** I talked back to him, he never did anything. Not even a force choke to keep my Sith in line or anything.

Yet, I remember getting choked by him in Beta. Thought that was awesome, not sure why that part was removed. Played light side, and always talked crap to him just like this last play through.

  4. As a small note, it wouldn't be a bad idea to integrate the colour matching system, when it returns, with the armour crafting skills.

For example, as the issue that resulted in its removal was that it made people feel like they weren't progressing, having some sort of dye system that let you use more colours as you gain something (both more colours and more on a single piece), or having higher level/tier gear support more colours, and perhaps some ability to add patterns... Any of which could result in something added for the armour crafters.

    *Off topic, I know.*

The reason Match to Chest was pulled was during Beta, there were a lot more options on how your char looked. However, a lot of it didn't match. So, instead of changing the color of the gear to match (gear of around the same level), they changed the skin of all the gear. Sadly, this resulted in seeing a lot of gear with the only difference being the color of it, and in some cases, not much of a change in color.

  5. Decided to play a Pub and ran Essessles (or what ever it's called) today. The last boss there is a Marauder, and he looks like a Marauder should look. Hood up chest and pants. They need to look at Vokk, and design some player armor after him.
  6. heh yeah this works, but here's the thing, How often do you think dps'ers are going to allow you to have enough time to do this even when you tell them what your going to do ahead of time? .... That's what i thought. Next topic.

The good ones, every time you need to. The bad ones, never.

  7. That's not always true. Melee will come with you but ranged will not. A pull means you can handle two ranged attackers by positioning yourself by one and pulling in the other. A leap means you can only get to one at a time. I don't know how significant that is in this game as I'm still only low level, but it might be worth pointing out.

One way to combat this is to jump to one ranged, position yourself, force push the mob to the other ranged then leap again. At that point you go into your AoEs. Not a perfect fix, as there are times where you have three or more ranged that are all spread out, but it does help.

  8. Gonna +1 on this one as it's an interesting idea but while at I'd also add another request.

Make LS Jaesa substory not about taking over and reforming the empire so it's some hippie utopia.

Seriously, what's up with that? If anything, adding some light into the Empire should be more like Revanites preach which is by embracing some LS elements in order to make up for what's Empire lacking in certain areas. It's extremely random that Jaesa joins you cause you show her that Jedi are hypocrites and Sith aren't all that bad as it would seem and after returning to ship you learn that apparently you're on some big quest to turn the Empire upside down, turning it into Republic 2.0.

    WHAT? Since when?

It would make so much more sense if LS Jaesa substory was about pursuing the same idea as Revanites (using them as an example here) - to make the Empire more stable, more rational, instead of allowing it to be run by people who often place their own welfare before that of the entire body (the Empire). If Jedi are "liars" (out of better word, let's use that) and yet they are the icon of the Republic and your character shows Jaesa that Empire doesn't automatically mean "evil", it would be so much better if that quest you're seemingly on, was about making it more competent by showing it some LS tendencies.

Originally I wanted to go LS with my SW but after seeing that LS choices are mostly goodie 2 shoes in nature + during one of companion substories, you're turned into some kind of Jedi infiltrator (hell, she even openly states in one of LS convos that she only playes the role of dark apprentice and is still a Jedi) who secretly acts in opposition of the Empire and wants to change it into something completely different, I instantly changed my mind. I'm SITH WARRIOR. it doesn't matter if I follow moral code that's more about greater good and rational than your average ******e Sith. I'm still Sith, I channel my hatred to make the pain go away, I act on emotions and despite showing some tendencies that could be normally attributed to LS, I do them because it's best in the long run and helps strengthen the faction which I'm allied to but I ABSOLUTELY DON'T do the kind of things LS Jaesa advocates.

That's the problem with all LS choices for the Empire in this game. They all look like you're doing "good" because you're some bleeding heart. I've encountered maybe 3 LS choices that would actually serve as greater good for the Empire while at the same time keeping my character from being arrogant douche who likes random overkill.

So yeah, +1 on that but will need some real work done.

Have to agree, not a big fan of that twist. Yeah, my warrior is Light Sided, but I am in a war against the Republic, not trying to turn the Empire into it.

  9. Before reading note that this contains the names of all the Sith juggernaut companions.

I'm sick of using Quinn as my companion, I don't like his character or that fact all he does is heal and carbon stream people so my question is:

What spec do I have to use in order to use other companions and survive viably? I'm using vengeance spec at the moment (level 44) and still whilst I can cope with all the challenges the game is offering, I'd like some choice in companion (I do not last long enough with any other than Quinn).

Ideally I'd like to use Broonmark or Pierce but since i don't do enough damage, their tanking skills wont be any good so I'd settle for being able to use Jaessa or Vette.

p.s. its not a case of gearing up i'm currently wearing re-modded level 40 pvp gear, pierce is in mainly lvl 40 pvp gear as well and we end up both on low health after a single fight.

Dude, turn off his CC and he becomes much better. I turned off all skills but his heals, and he's pretty decent now. While playing Immortal, I use Vette, however, Veng (what I mainly play), its Quinn. Just less down time so I can move faster.

  10. oh lol... Guess that's the woes of a low pop server. I have yet to experience WZs cancelling because of not enough joining :) *knock on wood*

I have, and we play on the same server. As soon as you see that, rush to get a lead for an easy win.

  11. As much as I don't want to, because of the way he presented his case, I agree with the op. I now just take slicing on my chars. When I hit 50 on them, I will then drop that for Bio, and just power through it. Granted, slicing is not as much money as it used to be, it still make credits.
  12. If it looks AT ALL interesting, I guarantee it's a PvP set.

Like all MMO Dev teams, they assume everyone is here just to PvP, so only the PvP gear has the best stats and looks.

If that's the case, I feel bad for the way raiding SIs will look.

  13. I ran into this the other day running through a flash point.

I selected Need for my companion. Someone got really mad at me for doing that.

I explained that I use my companion 90% of the time outside of groups and one way of getting decent gear is through flashpoints. Getting gear through questing is only ok gear. I am not about to buy gear all the time. I have a sorc and my companion is a tank. I use my tank a lot.

Am I wrong on selected Need for my companion?

I would like to get peoples opinion on this since this game I think is a little different then other games since we have companions.

My argument is since I use my companion 90% soloing, I feel as my companion and me are treated as 1.

Unless no one needed the item, yes, you were wrong. Even if no one needed the item, I find it best to ask in group, but that's just me.

  14. I know this has come up before, hell, it might even be beaten to death. However, there is not a search function (when is this coming back?).

There needs to be a grace period to sell items back to these vendors, or at least a conformation box before you purchase an item. As it stands right now, it is too easy to buy an item you didn't want.

  15. How exactly would this be fixed ?

NS and Consumption are normal game mechanics... you can't give the class free Power recharge so it cost health.... Plenty of times when stuck in combat a sorc that is not under fire will consume... and then heal not long after... what I'm going to consume half my health cause I'm out of power then NOT heal myself. That doesn't seem wise. So how do you police this... its normal game mechanics to use the sacrifice then heal shortly after... how would Bio tell the difference between someone purposely trying to get a medal and someone just playing the game as intended? lol

No damage, but add a cool down. How long? No clue, long enough to make them think of when to use it though.

  16. I'm a sorc and i do this, one easy fix is give us the mana w/o making us take damage. Sounds good to me.

Cry about smugglers hitting for 8k not a sorc healing itself.

Also the sorcs that do this are totally open for attack, why complain instead of hitting that said sorc?

People really will complain about anything

This is an unintended use of game mechanics, therefore it would be an exploit. Someone hitting for 8k is just bad balancing.

And trust me, if I saw someone doing this, I would. Sadly, the ones I do see are green, not red.

  17. ^^^^ EXACTLY

this was my point to begin with - npc vendors have replaced crafters and that really sux. feels like a single player rpg as far as the economy goes

While in a way, I agree with you. I no longer see a need for any other skill than Biochem. I do have to say, this is a case of learning the market. While most mods you can buy on the vendors, there are some you can not. Such as Might Mods. Now, you can go to one planet that sells level 13 and 15 mods, to pick up a level 13 might mod, but not 15. So, if you fill in the void on the GTN, you will make money.

There's more than just Might missing, such as some Cunning mods (you can get Patron, but theres another that has more Cunning than End on it). Just look for things like this. You can also sell the purple version of your mods. This will not appeal to everyone, but there is always a group of people that must have the "best" at any given time. These are the people you make your credits off of.

If you make armor, look for Schematics to make orange gear. If it looks good, you will get people that will buy it. They will even pay decently for it. I mean, hey, I can buy the really awesome chest and have it until I hit 50. Sure, it's 8-9k (or even 15 or so) and people will make that one time investment.

Not everything you make will have a market, but there are options. That said, I do wish crafting skills had more to offer.
