  1. I just killed him 5 minutes ago, after about 7 attempts. Had to use all my heroic moment skills. I will admit i was suffering from some annoying lag spikes and the old "action delay" (which I have been getting all day cant belive it still exists)

Once he goes into the spawing phase he goes bersek and kept killing me a few hits, something is quite wrong with that boss.

    Killed the Dashade first time.

  2. Thank you for the reply :) I was just wondering as I dont have any tanking implants or bracers yet... I have 20240 HP at the moment with Tionese/Columi/BH parts and two moddable pieces

    • Damage Reduction 36.14%
    • Defence Chance 18.62%
    • Shield Chance 28.21
    • Shield Absorb 47.00%

  3. Wow that is a lot to read :p

Yes it gets an awful lot harder for a healer in the level 50 bracket, You'll get marked, focused and burnt down pretty fast by those War Hero's, Its quite a tough class to play in PVP pretty much zero manoeuvrability and escape mechanisms, sometimes you just have to stand there and take it! As healer your performance is often dictated by the quality of your group, that’s not something you can really affect.

In the 50 Bracket its easy to see the good tanks, dps'rs and healers, Tanks wil guard you providing you play well. Good players usually get noticed.

    Some things that I always try to do are;

    • Never stray far from the your teammates
    • Never go an defend/attack an objective on your own
    • Use hammer shot sparingly
    • Save all your cooldown for when you "really" need them
    • Heal appropriately based on the attackers class
    • Use LoS where possible to break combat
    • Triage, Triage, Triage!

Above all practice makes perfect :)

From reading the forums looking for tips I have seen some people advice to focus on being half dps/ half healer until I get to BM/WH gear. But that sounds weird that a healing class cant be dedicated to healing, pvp or not.
You wont being keeping anyone alive with not quite doing enough healing or not quite doing enough DPS, I just dont feel hybrid work.. I rarely even bother Dpsing, just concentrate on doing one thing really well.

What I'm really struggling with and seen a lot mentionned is to have our main heal target (I know we're essentially better at single target heals), while it would seem obvious to go for the nearest tank or healer, it doesn't seem always to be the best strategy.
Im not quite sure what you are getting at here, your healing target should be whoever can be healed/saved most efficiently. Tanks can be left a little longer as they better survivability but I always keep an eye on the other healers, keeping each other alive can often be the turning point in holding and capping objectives.

  4. I use the group finder to pug often, dpsing or healing I have not had many bad experiences, when you queue you have expect the the unexpected, if the group as whole wants to skip cutscenes, mobs then so be it, I tend to follow the tanks lead whatever..

Had a recent experience where I was healing Kaon HM where the tank argued with one of the DPS all the way thorugh. Had another group where the group finder queued me as healer instead of DPS which was funny. After about 10 mins, the tank said who's healing! at which point I realised it was me :p

  5. Indeed ... long time in EQ .. never cared much for WoW...

'Being a wizard (in this case DPS class of your choice) isn't about massive damage and nuking things, it's all about threat management.'

Of course in those days the first time you pulled to much aggro (threat/hate etc.) you were dead.

Taking aggro from the tank is the last thing you want to do. You might think "ha ha! I'm doing a lot of damage, look at me!" But what you're realy doing is forcing the healer to change priorities and heal a 'less efficient' target, forcing the tank to go into 'overdrive' to get aggro back, and in general hurting your group.

You want to do as much damage as you can, while maintaining an aggro level less then that of your tank. Pulling aggro doesn't make you 'l33t', it means you screwed up.

Couldn't agree more all your doing is complicating things for your group, just tonight a sentinel kept doing it. So I let him die twice and made sure his HP stayed around 50% through the trash... that put a stop to it! :p

  6. Regardless of wether im healing or damage dealing, I have had very few negative experiences with the group finder, At first I was very cautious about using it, I have never been a fan of healing pugs, however my experiences have mosty been positive.

I dont mind in-experienced players, if I need to help a healer in I will do, its not a big issue & bad players just need to learn too, I generally dont like to critisize I prefer to adapt,,but lazy players should not be tolerated its just unfair on the rest of the group.

  7. Last week, I queued in my DPS set and spec, after a boss or two, the tank said who's healing to which I replied "not me" followed by ... "uh oh..." yes it is me!

I switched to my healing gear and finished the FP without a hitch. First and foremost, as long as the player is competent and gear willing, and it should be ok.

I wouldn’t do that on purpose, I generally don’t think that is fair on the rest of the group.

  8. Funnily enough.. I accidentally healed Taral V HM as dps spec in my healer set tonite.... oops :o

Aside from me doing silly things like this, the 4 set healer bonus & alacrity feel a bit underwhelming. Im sure in a raid situation it would be quite different.

Well the next test is to do somehting silly like this in a raid hehe.

  9. Tanks are totaly appreciated.. ...just not by DPSers.

As a Healer I love seeing tanks in Warzone especially ones that guard me :) I will go out of my way to keep them alive. The first stat I look at is protection when deciding who gets my MVP vote.

  10. If you can find the right Moddable Helm & Chest, you can take advantage of the a bug which enables you to loose the hood by hiding/showing the helm. It doesnt work with all items I have only been able to get it to work with certian moddable item combinations.

  11. Sorry I think you mis-understand me ...I use combat medic OR gunnery... but I have a mix of DPS/Healing gear and I was interested in, what people thought about the PVP healing set bonuses and how much of a loss would it be in PVE.

For example in PVP I exclusively heal as a combat medic, but in PVE I do both Healing & DPS with respective specs of course.

The one thing that I have noticed is when mixing some DPS gear with my healing gear, is that my max healing has increased quite a bit but I then loose the PVP healing 4 part set bonus and alacrity.

  12. Thankyou for the replies, I have managed to split my gear between PVP Healing (with alacrity) & PVE DPS (without alacrity) but I notice my dps gear does more healing but of course I have no healing set bonus.

Now... I wonder how well I can heal in PVE :)

I was wondering wether to mix in a couple of healing specific items but the 2 set PVE bonus is kind of underwhelming.

  13. I have;

1 x 50 Trooper Comando (Combat Medic / Gunnery) (Main)

    1 x 50 Sith Juggernaught (non-speced)

    1 x 50 Jedi Shadow ( Balance)

    1 x 41 Trooper Vanguard (non-speced)

    1 x 32 Smuggler Scoundrel (Sawbones)

    1 x 28 Sith Sorcerer (Corruption)

    1 x 23 Imperial Operative (Medicine)

    1 x 17 Jedi Sentinel (Watchman)

I prefer to heal, hence the 4 healer classes in order of preference I would say Commando / Operative / Sorcerer / Smuggler, but play a few and find one that fits your prefered playstyle :)

  14. Hi all, I have a quandary.. in PVP and FP's I heal, and in raids I'm needed to DPS, with my War Hero/Battle Master set I have a nice healing bonus which obviously helps when PVE healing.

Lately I have been working on getting Columi/Rakata/Blackhole DPS gear which have been a massive boost in baseline stats but I find I am loosing alacrity and of course the "healing set bonus" (down to 2 piece PVP healing set bonus at the moment)

I guess I’m trying to find a balance, the short answer is just have 3 sets hehe, but that’s not viable right now, has anyone healed competently without a healing bonus's and a lack of alacrity, just how important are they? In my opinion I do fine without.

Has anyone else tried to multi-task? (gear-wise)

  15. This discussion is only in reference to unranked WZ's. I've been running an assault DPS commando for quiite a while and do very well with damage. I've got 8 WH pieces (eliminator) and the rest BM. I had noticed an incredible lack of any healing in WZ's lately so I decided to bite the bullet and just respec for healing. I had never healed before so I got some practice with PVE before moving on to PVP. My gear is obviously not made for healing so I don't expect to put up the best numbers. At this point I consider a "good" match for me to be about 100K damage with 200K heals. I'm curious what the pure medics with good combat medic gear are able to do in comparison. I would say that based on my small sample of matches so far my winning percentage is higher when I'm playing a heal spec rather than pure damage. I think this is more a result of the fact that it's better to have at least 1 healer than no healers, not so much that I have mad healing skills.

I feel that I do ok, I have a mix of WH/BM a good game for me is 300k, I dont worry too much about my DPS, if your shooting an enemy your not healing a teammate and probably wasting ammo. I can never seem to keep up with sages or scoundrels no matter how well I play. There are soo many factors that will affect your final statistics every game will be different. My only problem is a lack of real mobility, I think the imperials know this, from my experience I tend to get focused and burnt down pretty quickly by small groups.

Also, any tips on countering pyrotechs? My "heavy" armor pretty much melts like butter and I just can't heal through the damage. Does the combat medic gear give you the ability to heal through a pyro or do I just need to stun/run?

Pyrotechs are the bane of my life, its very difficult to heal through almost impossible if they are better geared, constantly cleansing your self with field aid is the only way to stay alive. I usually run the other way when I see a pyrotech aiming for me :p

I also find it pretty sucky that the "green beam of death" is almost totally useless in PvP. It would be nice to weave it in for ammo conservation and build stacks for SCC but as soon as you light that thing up it's like the entire enemy teams stops what they're doing and kills you in 3 seconds.

I barely even use it, and its effect is pitifull.
