  1. Timeout!!!

    We just got a new expansion with two new planets, two new flashpoints, two new operations and you are really saying, "that there is little effort placed in "new" things for swtor."? Not to mention two new aspects of the game in the last year: GSF and Strongholds.

    Two new planets; yes, and one of them is the size of Korriban. Small and lackluster.

  2. Didnt you hear? The Jedi Consular class is now renamed to the Jedi Mime. This new change is the first step towards that...why use flashy, expensive graphics and sound when you can so convincingly MIME an ability, that the enemies take damage from it? I can't wait til Project removes any debris you pull from the ground and lets us use our IMAGINATION as to what just hit the enemy.

    ...seriously though, the eff. People saying its fine obviously don't get the real issue here. What if on a bounty hunter your mortar volley was changed so you rocket into the air, your character's fists go pewpewpew, but no sound/rockets/explosions appear? Would that even look or sound right to you? Or make sense? >:(

    Agreed. And the lack up response on this issue has me at a loss for words. Period. First they removed the OLD force slam ability (where they'd pick them up in the air, then slam the enemy into the ground), then, they semi-dumbed down the force wave ability where the consular most of the time looks like it has tourette syndrome and now this. If we do get a response, I'm sure it'll be something along the lines of, "the animation just isn't working well with the stability of the game world. Over time it was causing countless screen shakes, and other players to complain. Instead of fixing it, we decided the best route is to turn it all off completely until we find a future fix (which will be never because we have three bug fixers at BW now). We hope you understand." If I'm wrong and the response is the opposite, I'll drop $300 on CC's (don't get me started on that debacles customer service).

    For educational purposes, the "Project" ability replaced Force Slam as a low-level ability, as Force Slam created an unintentional knockdown effect. All I have to say to this is, really? So it was unfixable? I've never met lazier developers. No offense to those devs who might've wanted to and are just taking orders not to.

  3. I can understand doing away with it for the screen shake issue... but at least change the animation a bit. I wouldn't mind the wave blast animation that emanates from Nadia Grell's AOE attack for instance?

    At least make it look like some sort of power (and sound) is doing some damage. You don't have to shake the whole dam planet. :rolleyes:

    Or they could just fix it like every other MMORPG company would.

  4. A response from the DEVs would be nice. I hope this isn't a sign of many things to come. Before to long you'll havea bunch of people fighting in PvE/PvP and it'll look like an alpha with no fighting animations. If this is the way they fix abilities, then everyone will be playing SWTOR alpha after too long. I've never played an MMO where they kill ability animation/sound for abilities and it be permanent because "it glitches in it's current state". If you turn it's animation/sound off, fine; do it temporarily until you fix the ability and it's original design.
  5. Which game is better?

    SWTOR hands down. It's a traditional MMO. DCUO is a joke with 3 servers(?) that are dead. No active guilds unless you count guilds with 5 people, the UI and everything involved in it is a travesty and they don't allow as much customization as SWTOR does.

  6. Wouldn't mind a response on the second one either.

    I mean, is there anyone during QA that takes a look, at least using Preview mode? It looks utterly silly.

    Agreed. I've also been told that it's a permanent and intentional due to it being buggy and causing other peoples screens to shake along with other people's zone shake as well (they could also hear it from opposite side of the area) whenever someone uses the ability. If that's the case, fine. Fix it, then re-enable the ability's animation and sound.

    O' Brave, ancient galaxy, that hath such soldiers in it...

    Guardians of peace and justice...

    Civilization begins with order, grows with liberty, and is defended through sacrifice...

    Every generation has its challenges - its own battle to face...

    Our ally is the Force - through the strength of the Force the shroud of evil holds no sway over us...

    We have dedicated ourselves to rekindling the light of the Order - ours may be a smaller beacon, but it has been growing both in size and in brilliance...

    We are like tempered steel, purposeful and razor-keen. Always we shall be in the front rank, a burning brand to our enemies, a brilliant fire to our friends. Ours is a restless life, and never shall we know peace, though we shall be blessed for the peace that we give to others. We shall take comfort in the fact that, though we stand tall and alone, others may take shelter in the Light we cast...

    :sy_star: THE ARMY OF LIGHT: WHO WE ARE

    What is The Army of Light?

    The Army of Light (AL) is an established guild for the Bioware title, Star Wars: The Old Republic (SW:TOR). It has a light Role-play (RP) atmosphere and focuses on both Player-vs.-Environment (PvE) and Player-vs.Player (PvP) in-game. The AL is open to all regardless of race, origin, belief, culture, religion, political affiliation, age, time zone, country, local area, gender, or experience. However, a strict dedication to the Republic and the guild are required for membership. Our host server in-game is The Ebon Hawk.

    How was The Army of Light Founded?

    The foundation began to fall into place in late January of 2010. Dissatisfied with poor leadership and environments lacking in both maturity and dedication, Master Jephos Mispir struck out to see where the Force would lead him. He began to understand the fundamental flaw within the Republic – the allowance and even welcoming of Imperials and practitioners of the Dark Side. Therefore, he began to recruit others to the cause - to assist him in creating a new Republic stronghold, free of the corruption and impurities that plagued so many others. Together they laid out the framework for what would ultimately become the guild, and shortly thereafter The Army of Light was officially established in February of 2010.

    What does The Army of Light Offer?

    The guild provides a sanctuary and a home for over 100 citizens of the Republic. Membership makes one a part of one the oldest, most established, and highly respected organizations in the entire SW:TOR community. In addition to the large support network of experienced administrators and Flag Officers that is available 24/7, the AL is hosted on a professionally purchased and maintained web domain that features full chat rooms, deluxe forums, and an interactive role-playing environment.

    What other Features does The Army of Light Provide?

    The AL maintains its privately owned Ventrilo client for voice communication, its own web forums, and periodically releases member-created guild materials. In addition, the AL coordinates social activities for members and allies designed to provide an enjoyable, stress-relieving, community-building atmosphere. These include game, trivia, and movie nights, chat room “DJs”, role-playing scenarios and story lines, and contests.

    What does it mean that The Army of Light is a “Role-play” Guild?

    This means that we, on occasion, choose to act as our in-game personas as opposed to only as individuals sitting at keyboards. The reason is so that we can more fully immerse ourselves in the Star Wars universe and better enjoy our time spent here by “living the fantasy” as opposed to simply playing a computer game. This philosophy affects everything from our behavior and language when interacting with one another to our titles and the guild chain of command. Besides, who’s never dreamt of being a lightsaber-wielding Jedi, an indomitable Trooper, or a dashing Smuggler?

    :sy_star: THE ARMY OF LIGHT: RECRUITMENT

    What Type of Person is The Army of Light Seeking to Recruit?

    The Army of Light is seeking those who are dedicated, mature, and willing to exclusively support the Galactic Republic and the guild. We do not wish to limit potential recruits before the actual application process is complete, there is a major requirement that must be met: maturity. This is a defining characteristics that all AL members must possess as immaturity is not tolerated. The Army of Light is an equal opportunity guild. We do not discriminate based on:

    ~ Belief | Religion

    ~ Political Affiliation

    ~ Time Zone | Country | Local Area

    ~ Race

    ~ Origin

    ~ Age 18+ preferred (16 minimum)

    ~ Gender

    Are There any Other Requirements for Membership?

    Members are to be of the highest personal character. A deep dedication to continuous learning, integrity, maturity, humility, and loyalty is mandatory for membership. No member may belong to any other guild while a member of The Army of Light, of either faction. Subscribers, Preferred, and Free-to-Play individuals are equally welcome. We wish to have only the finest gentlemen and ladies who embody respect and a sincere willingness to role-play as forthright and upstanding defenders of the Galactic Republic. We believe hard work, contributions to the guild and the greater good, maturity, selflessness, and activity should be rewarded. We strive to eliminate injustice, tyranny, evil and threats to our peace, security, virtue, and way of life.

    How does one Apply for Membership to The Army of Light?

    Click the ‘Apply Now’ tab at the top of our website. This will take you to a overview page which summarizes the guild and its policies, and includes a link to our online Application Center which is located on our Forums. Once in this place on our Forums, copy the application questions into a new thread. The title should simply be [your name]’s Application. Members of our Recruitment Council will then review it and typically respond to you in 48 to 72 hours or less. Applications are more likely to be approved if they are well thought out, not overly brief, and have proper grammar and spelling. While you wait, you are welcome to tour our forums and website further. Any member would be happy to answer any questions you may have -- so please feel free to ask! Please check back on your application thread for updates and/or additional instructions.

    :sy_star: THE ARMY OF LIGHT: ACADEMY

    "Training to become a Jedi is not an easy challenge, and even if you succeed, it's a hard life."

    What is The Army of Light Academy?

    The AL is committed to education and continuous learning. The Academy has both a practical and a role-play benefit to it. Classes are held on a variety of subjects and are taught by experienced members and leaders of the guild. In this way, the members’ knowledge of the Star Wars universe is expanded, information valuable in-game is shared, members earn rank and prestige, and the AL community is strengthened. Running concurrently with the Academy are the guild’s Class and Mentorship programs, including the Jedi Master-Padawan system.

    :sy_star: THE ARMY OF LIGHT: LEADERSHIP

    Who Leads The Army of Light?

    The Army of Light is led by the guild’s High Council (HC) which is headed by High General Jephos Mispir, the guild's Founder. Most seats on the HC come with term limits and are filled by regularly scheduled, guild-wide elections. Class plays no part in eligibility for leadership and all members of sufficient rank, training, and capability are welcome to run for election.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    :sy_star: THE ARMY OF LIGHT: POLICIES, RULES, & GUIDELINES
    General Requirements:
    At The Army of Light, we have a few policies that must be followed. These policies contain Membership, Activity, Personal Codes of Conduct, Chat, and Forum Policies. All can be found listed on both our official website and our Forums. A few words that can easily sum up these guidelines are: maturity, respect, integrity, loyalty, and dedication.
    STAY TRUE TO THE REPUBLIC.
    GUILD BEFORE SELF.
    Advice for Membership:As a part of your experience with The Army of Light, you will be expected to be aware of the following expectations:
    * Maturity - We desire our members to be dignified and respectful to all others and to themselves.
    * Fun - Just because we have rules, doesn't mean you can't have fun. Fun is encouraged and its why we're here!
    * Respect the Chain of Command - We also want our members to obey and follow orders conveyed by the leadership. When you join, you will receive more information on this and told and who your main superior officers are.
    * Flexibility - We want our members to realize that they must start off at the lower ranks, then, earn their positions and work hard for them. We do not want members who join and immediately expect rank and privilege. We also want our members to accept and make the best of their ranks. We will give you what we feel is necessary. If we feel you are ready to be promoted, we will do so, but please, do not ask for a promotion or bemoan the rank of a fellow guild mate. Members must complete Officer Training to achieve a rank greater than Cadet.
    * Opportunities - As a new addition, you will begin with the rank of 'Recruit'. However, that does not mean that opportunities for participation won't be immediate! New members are very welcome and encouraged to take part in guild events and operations.
    :sy_star: THE ARMY OF LIGHT: ALLIANCES & DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS
    How does Another Republic Guild form an Alliance with The Army of Light?
    All Republic guilds may visit our Forums and fill out a Diplomatic request form there. You are also encouraged to speak with Ambassador General Mai Skyblade. While we do not expect our allies to be long-tenured or massive in size, or to share all of our policies, we do expect them to hold to a policy of "Mutual Defense" and to the principles of honor, respect, maturity, and personal dignity.
    Your website link is broken. Might want to update your OP.
  8. looks pretty, would have liked to see at least one single mechanic in any of those "boss" fights.
    If Revan's going to be the new baddie for said coming ops, He better be hard as hell to beat. The legacy of revan has some big shoes to fill and I hope he's one of the toughest bosses this game has ever seen.
    Don't let me down BW.
    This^. I will say I was surprised that loot actually dropped from Rakatta Prime.
  9. @Devs something to consider that's been hurting SWTORs (one of the things) longevity is visual armor diversity and choices. The ONLY armor set available with the new casino update is one of the old smugglers sets (another re-color). Who wants to spend their hard earned creds on one armor set? Let alone one that just a rehash of old gear and one that's not fitting of their class visually. This alone makes the casino useless once someone obtains the mount as that's the only real unique item.
    A solution, one I'd recommend adding to this update in future patches and also making sure it happens in future content updates that involve "new gear" is to add UNIQUE looking armor sets for each class.
  10. Hey folks,
    I will just be as honest as I can here, it was a poor choice in wording on our part. I know that players have made decisions around whether to remain a subscriber based on those words which makes it all that much more sensitive. I apologize if you feel that you were misled by what we said in that blog. Since this blog I feel we have been more consistent in our messaging that you can expect things like cosmetic and convenience features (like Appearance Designer) are the types of things we usually place on the Cartel Market.
    It has always been our plan that as new content is released,(such as Flashpoints, Operations, in-game events, daily hubs, etc.) that subscribers will get access to these pieces of content. This is unlike a free-2-play player who will need to purchase access to that content. This is why we stated subscribers gained "unlimited" access to that content, because you get that as a part of your subscription.
    For Cartel Market items, you have access to purchase all of them, as do F2P players. What sets you folks apart is your monthly stipend which will allow you to purchase those features at no additional cost should you choose. I realize with your stipend, and with all the features we have, you may not be able to get it all at once but you can get it in time as a subscriber.
    With that being said we have definitely heard your frustrations around Game Updates and the value you feel as a subscriber. I don't have details today but we are continuing to look at options moving forward to make sure that you don't feel that way.
    -eric
    The only way BW can do this is if they hold true to their word. As the OP said, it's crystal clear from the quote that they haven't. Honor what you say. Mistake or not.
  11. I cancelled about a week ago. Subscribers paying for haircuts, facial hair, tattoos, etc. is just beyond anything remotely reasonable. I know, i get 500 CC for my $15, that somehow justifies making subscribers pay for everything. You can spray perfume on crap, but it's still crap.
    This ^. Thank you BW.
  12. Alright, before I start, I'd like to add that this is simply a topic where I want to share my personal opinion regarding the Appearance Customization Vendor that was now implemented (along the new hairstyles etc).
    I personally believe it's been a bad move on Biowares side, and here's why.
    Most of us can agree on the fact that, since F2P hit shelves, the Cartel Market was always a form of luxury. Items and the likes that you obtained through it where simply just that, luxury items you did not require, and that did not unbalance the game in any way for you. (except some of the crystals maybe.) All game mechanics that where implemented prior, and post the F2P release, where all accessible for Subscribers still, thus making this, in my opinion, the only 'valid' F2P transition in a long time.
    However this Appearance Customization Vendor in my eyes is just an insult to any subscriber in my eyes, and here's why.
    Being a Subscriber has one fundamental function. It means that, through paying the monthly fee, you get access too all the features the game provided, or provides, for said fee. That is why we pay that monthly fee in the first place. The cartel market, so far, has not hampered with this one bit, right until tonight with the 2.1 patch.
    The Appearance Customization kiosk is somewhat of a 'first step' in a literal '**** you' direction to subscribers. Yes, I'm getting a bit drastic here. However, in the end, this is the first time SWTOR has received a new feature in it's long list of updates that, instead to be freely accessible by Subscribers (which in my opinion should've been a right-out standard thing to do), we instead are forced to pay for it through cartel coins.
    Now the fact we're meant to spent cartel coins on it isn't the end of the world. Even with that measly allowance of 4 EUR we're given, it should surface for the purchase of new material. However, and here comes the catch, it doesn't.
    The way the shops set up now, it's a limitless cash-sink cow with no other purpose then to exploit you of your cartel coins, for a function about every MMO under the sun (F2P or Subbed) provided in atleast some variety for free, or through ingame credits.
    For those interested in the actual math. If you take it by face value, to use all that has been implemented with the newest 'customization' patch (By that I mean the cathar race, the new customization parts and an one time alteration of all slides) you end up paying more then a thousand cartel coins. 1050 Cartel coins are the equivalent of 8 EUR.
    I'll make that bold to underline my point.
    The Customization options, with an ONE TIME USE of all sliders, costs you MORE then the entire EXPANSION RothC.
    Even less so, it certainly just shoots in the wrong direction. We've been given customization option at a nonsensical price. It may not seem much to you ,but you roughly throw out ~50 Cent with each time you move and move 'one' slide. I'll let you do the rough math on the rest. Honestly, to change your appearance once completely costs you probably 5-6 EUR for absolute nonsense.
    And don't even compare this to other mmo's charging fees. Other MMO's provide these features for free, (Except Race change) and that one's overcharged here aswell.
    Now, I know some will still defend EA for being a 'Business trying to make money', But seriously, this is below bad marketing. To implement FEATURES, not luxury items (as it's been the case with the Cartel Market so far), that charge you the equivalent of REAL MONEY each time you move them, is simply retarded.
    Honestly, for 'what' unearthly reason would we, now, use this tool? some will do it just to burn through those cartel coins they have, but honestly, I personally am more then sure that I will not even take a second look at this tool unless the pricing is drastically lowered.
    I fully understand and endorse the one-time unlock fee on the parts, but to charge you for every slider motion is just nonsense. They've literally taxed a feature of the game now. A feature Subscribers literally 'have' an entlitlement to, as being a subscriber is just that, being entitled to the full use of all of the games features.
    thats my 2 cents on this topic. Enjoy.
    Agreed. Their Marketing department should be fired. They're nickel and dimming subscribers for everything they've got even though they already pay a monthly sub fee. The character appearance kiosk should've been a free option for subscribers.
