DrifterBG
Those are the single most useless things ever implemented in an MMO. When DPS meters are put in, people forget their class, forget their intended roles, and sometimes wipe entire groups just so they can say 'my numbers were higher than yours'. Please BW, and modding community (if there is one for this game), I beg you not to create any form of damage meter so that the classes focus on getting the job done, and not getting the insignificant numbers higher than other people's insignificants numbers. Esresro
forget their intended roles, and sometimes wipe entire groups just so they can say 'my numbers were higher than yours'.. Not in my experience. I personaly found them very usefull to work out my highest dps rotation. Sorry you were unlucky enough to always be stuck with bad groups :/
SodaOfYoda
Part of getting the job done is DPS. Meters help with efficiency. Oil the gears of the machine.
DrifterBG
Sounds like someone's afraid his guildmates will discover he doesn't know how to pull his own weight in operations. Thank you for proving my point. My damage is just fine thank you. I'm just worried about people like you putting too much importance on something pretty insignificant. This game is being played by people just fine without those pretty little numbers you find validation in.

This game is being played by people just fine without those pretty little numbers you find validation in. Smart players know that if they are doing their job the damage won't be as high as others, the point is to find the maximum DPS one can do. They will be created when swtor allows it, you cannot and will not stop it. Edited January 1, 2012 by Tarianz

SpaceHamster
How do you know your damage is fine? ^ This... you can't know if your damage is good without the tools to see it. I understand your point though, people will be dropped from groups if they're not good enough, people have to start using a specific rotation, and rotations are boring. It's more fun to just DO things. But you can't stop people from powergaming and trying to get the most out of their characters.

KoukosGamer
My only objection is that when the tank loses aggro..he hears it....when the healer cant keep the tank up..he hears it.... so the easiest classes of all are the dps'ers...with no damage meter...they keep have it free of any criticism upon failure... SnoggyMack
How do you know your damage is fine? The target is dead. That's usually the best indicator.
archifikoss
They will implement a DPS meter eventually. And since DPS is one of the trinity roles, there is definitely a need for the proper tools to aid competitive players and to help them maximize their effectiveness. BTW I say this a s a total casual who doesn't see the point in playing for anything other than fun
Averoes
Wouldn't mind a meter cause I have no idea what im using on my Agent, I just press buttons till they die.

Revanx
Game don't need a "strict" DPS meter but a an event (fight) analizer. We Raid Leaders need to know how someone died, check boss abilities, take a loot to raid HPS and DPS, etc. All this are needed for serious PVE and for some extend even in PVP. Thrage
There is no way you can be both someone who is serious about doing the best you can in the game and someone who is not in support of some type of damage meter. It is the only way to really tell. The only people who do not want damage meters are the ones who have no idea why it's important, and the ones who have no idea why it's important will never know why they're important as long as they cling to their ignorance. Sohtaraz
The target is dead. That's usually the best indicator. Tell that to those target dummies. I kept trying and trying for 4 hours and couldn't even get him to 99% Or the dude in Skyrim, I just kept hitting him over and over and he didn't even complain about it, just kept nagging how we should move along. Olzmo
wipe entire groups just so they can say 'my numbers were higher than yours'. You're talking about idiots, no one intelligent wants to raid with them anyway. I'm just worried about people like you putting too much importance on something pretty insignificant. Damage is what has to be done in order to defeat an enemy. It's not insignificant to know how people are performing on this very crucial activity.
