What do I need to upgrade to get rid of lag?!

Hey guys. I am getting some lag, even on the lowest settings. I dont know what to upgrade, or if I should overclock or what? Here are the specs. Any help would be appreciated!

 

Processor - AMD Athlon II X2 220 2.8 GHz

Ram - 4GB

Video Card - Radeon HD 4550

 

The idiots at Best Buy keep saying it may be my internet, but I am getting lag right from the start. After runing a speed test. I am right around 10 MBPS Download. Any ideas?

What is a dixdiag? Sorry. Im a console gamer that made the jump over to PC.. So Im kind of a noob..

 

Click ur start button and in the search block type dxdiag, the program that pops up in the list double click it, hit "Save All Information" button in the bottom portion of the new window. Save it as the .txt file on ur desktop, open the new .txt on the desktop, cope the info and paste it to ur forum post using the spoiler option.

Yeah, I did.

 

So here is what I've decided to do. Let me know if you guys think it'll make a difference. I am going to return the Radeon 4550, and get the Radeon XFX - ATI Radeon HD 6770 1GB DDR5 PCI Express 2.1. Will this help?

So here is what I've decided to do. Let me know if you guys think it'll make a difference. I am going to return the Radeon 4550, and get the Radeon XFX - ATI Radeon HD 6770 1GB DDR5 PCI Express 2.1. Will this help?

 

Definitely. Also remember that shadows in the game have a HUGE influence on performance, even for good rigs.

Make sure you have shadows "off" and not just on "low". It doesn't do much, visually, but it's a larger hit than it should be if they are on low, performance wise.

 

And the card should help a lot. I was using a HD4870 and was getting fairly acceptable play with everything turned off or on low. I upgraded to a HD 6950 2 gig card. Although there are still areas or times when I play that I still get odd lag and abilities not going off properly (mostly in Warzones which is a known issue). That's with everything maxed now though too. :)
