PVP Bags are trash.

Having to save up marks, exchange them for merc marks then roll the dice to buy PVP gear is simply one of the stupidest ways to acquire gear in any MMO setting. All this does is encourage people to grind grind grind out pvp to get the commendations in the first place. Then if you are lucky enough to get a bag with a piece of a gear on it, there is a chance you will not be able to use it. I just got lucky enough to get 2 bags of gear with drops in them, and guess what they are tech gear which I do not use in any of my classes. My advanced class can't even use the gear that drops from bags. Please implement a new system of getting gear other than the constant grind of PVP with a chance to drop gear you can't even use.

This game copies so many things of WoW, why don't you copy the good and fix this way of acquiring PVP gear.

lolwut?

You did something wrong. You get a barter item out of the bag that can only be used at a vendor who only sells gear for your class.

You goofed, sir. I am not 100% positive but am fairly confident that Champion bags can either give you Centurion commendations, a piece of unfinished Champion gear or both. You take the unfinished Champion gear to your proper i.e. your class vendor, and can than use them to purchase gear from your AC or the other AC of your class. Sabers drop for Force users and rifles and blasters for the others from the bags.

Sounds like you have been going to just a random vendor, seeing that you can purchase some of their gear with the drop and getting angry.

Plus as I said you will always at least get Centurion comms from them, while not many, can quickly add up if you do your PvP daily everyday on top of buying bags from your WZ comms as well as doing the weekly PvP which gives you 3 Champions bags.

I have been grinding day in and day out so I have been going to the right vendor, I received a lightsaber as a merc, ***? I also got gear that ONLY my adv class which I did not spec into could use. Again there needs to be a change in the way loot is distributed, right now it feels like a korean MMO, grind grind grind.

But you don't get gear out of the bags is the thing...you get barter items. You're not opening the right bags...or something...

There are bags that cost 30 WZ commendations and bags that cost 200 WZ and 200 Merc commendations. The 30 WZ comm ones are dumb and drop all kinds of loot for all kinds of classes. The 200/200 drop credits, Centurion commendations, and sometimes barter items.

The lightsaber is one thing, I was pretty sure that sabers only dropped for Force users, but the gear thing is another.

Go to your class PvP vendor, scroll down or up and you'll see that you can buy gear for either one of the BH ACs. The gear is based off ACs not specs, so as I said you goofed.

The risk you run with the Champions bag is getting doubles and that's about it. The tolltip info when you hover over the bag explains you can get a random piece of loot, so you know the risks. I've gotten 2 MH sabers and while frustrating, at least I got Centurion comms as well.

It's no less grindy than most of the MMOs out there, with WoW being the most widely played and therefore relate able I'll use it as an example. You had to grind for medals from each BG that WoW had for gear and the amount of medals awarded were relative to your win or loss. Eventually this changed, but the PvP gear is still nothing more than a grind, made less so if you go on a streak of wins or through the Arena, but still a grind.

EDIT: Unless you have been doing what the above poster said. In that case, well that's on you.

So yea I guess people fail at reading comprehension. I bought the 200 merc and WZ commendation bags, again which you have to grind 800 WZ commendations for in total. Out of THESE bags I have gotten a lightsaber and AC items I cannot use. I did not goof, it was RNG screwing me over. And I get that you have to grind for some things but the way its implemented here is just stupid. You MAY or MAY NOT get an item you can actually use or you get doubles of something you already have. At least in other MMO's you picked the gear you grinded for and did not have to pray that RNG did not screw you over.

I also understand that the bags drop tokens that can be used to buy the gear you need, but again its a huge grind just to get a piece of gear. Grind is bad enough, should not have to deal with RNG.

It has a chance to drop an actual pvp item in addition to the commendations.

A small grind is healthy in all kinds of games. If there was no grind at all the game would be easy and short. For example, the Cloak grind in SWG was possibly the longest (and maybe even worst) grind I've ever done, but it kept me playing and looking forward to the next day of playing the game. If they hadn't made getting the cloaks a grind and you just had to do a really hard quest for it then the whole enamor of the item would've been lost. And that's the way it is with these pieces of gear, when you see a person with champion gear you think (or atleast I do) Wow that looks sick, I hope I get that peice one day.

While I agree that there is generally no way to get around the grind, its the chance that even AFTER you grind there is either a chance that you get a piece of gear that you can't use, or you get doubles of the same piece. And currently the only way to get the merc commendations is to trade in the WZ ones, at least on Ilum they should drop off players or some such. Sorry if I was ranting but I just do not like the current pvp gearing system in any way.

Even if you got a class item that your class cannot use, you dont get to complain until you open up 50 bags with only commendations in it

If you were a Mod, wouldn't you ensure your link might actually work?!?!?!

But this is no grind. This is just rng. You can open 20 bags and not get a piece. And you can open 20 bags and get 20 pieces.

I don't mind a little grind, but I REALLY mind complete and utter RNG in gear aquireing.

Yeah, it is rather bad got four implant tokens out of four bags that gave me more than commendations. It's such a waste to grind for something and possibly get close to no rewards for it. I'd understand the item drops more, if you'd still get the same amount of commendations for each bag. Losing commendations for items that you have no use for is pure stupidity.

you just want to get the best stuffs instantly. maybe you should get some friends and exchange goods for good crafted gear? it won't be ~the best~ with the current state of crafting, but it will keep you competitive while you waste your merc commendations away.

furthermore, you can sell the stuff you roll, you know...

so much derp on this forum.

I kind of agree with the OP. It's a strange system, other MMOs that I have played just flat out give you barter tokens for doing content that you collect and trade for gear. They don't give you barter tokens to buy a bag that has a random chance at giving you more barter tokens or not.

I can understand if they want to put time sinks into the endgame and make you grind for the goodies but a barter system based on RNG is kinda crummy. It's enough that loot drops are random, you don't need to have a random barter system as well.

I'm not sure what you guys are complaining about. I pvp maybe a couple hours a day. and with the daily/weekly quests I've gotten the complete set of Champion gear. as well as a entire second set of offspec gear. System works great!

If this is serous,

Congrats, you beat the RNG gods. Too bad no one else can.

I don't think it should be easy, I just think that random is kind of a bogus way to handle barter. You do the content, you get your token, you save your tokens, you buy your gear. That's the kind of straightforward system I'm used to anyways. Edited by MorgonKara
