Quality over quantity.

I think Bioware had quality in mind when undertaking this project, they wanted to make sure this game runs smooth to the majority of clients. That's why you see so many instancing and loading screens, not to mention the sheer immensity of the zones. They actually thought they would get 20 million subscriptions for this game because it's starwars. Hypothetically if you get 20 million subs for SWTOR, this game would still run smooth.

I like what you did here. Sadly many people want quantity of quality. Then again they are usually the same people that complain one way or the other. Its either not enough content or the content sucks. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

The only reason why people are even complaining about the loading screens is because each leveling "zone' is a separate area, whereas most are used to the way WoW is setup ie one large landmass with many zones in it.

Heres a quick breakdown of what produces a load screen for WoW vs TOR

Initial Entry into game:

WoW: Yes

TOR: Yes

Entry/Exit of Dungeons/Flashpoints

WoW: Yes

TOR: Yes

Moving to a separate landmass/planet

WoW: Yes

TOR: Yes

So as you can see, WoW and TOR both use loading screens at the same points, it is just that TOR has many more landmasses than WoW and uses instancing a bit more frequently.

I am sure I will have people jump all over this post about how taking an elevator brings a load screen but really, the screen going black for a second while the map changes is hardly a loading screen.

You do agree though quantity in the eyes of bioware has already been achieved because it's easier to achieve it, they already sold more than a million copies and growing. That spells profit for any game/company.

I dont really care about loading screens. I played EQ for 5 years and WoW for 6. EQ had small zones with loading time after every single one. so there was ALOT of loading in that game. I just want the WoWers to go back to there game and leave us alone and stop complaining.

I kinds of see this game as quantity over quality.

O look, ANOTHER mini dungeon that is a hallway.

Endless unneeded cut scenes with questionable stories instead of focusing on class quests.

There's good things about this game but, the overwhelming feeling I get is:

Corporate mediocrity in staggering proportions.

I do see that and understand that numbers= initial profits. But, as a company you also want a quality product that will create a continuous revenue stream. This game is NOWHERE near perfect but I dont believe it is by any means low quality either. People tend to forget the headaches that come with MMO's in their infancy. There are ALWAYS bugs, glitches, crashes, etc. WoW, RIFT, EVE, LOTRO, STO, DDO, all had these issues, whether or not the playerbase forgot them is another story.
