arnaudlublink
I bough this game because: Its have 2 factions and its a mmo and the big reason because of pvp.Its year 2012 and i expect game developers will have more experience by making a good game with good pvp then 10 - 15 years ago. My best world pvp i ever had in a game was WoW pre bg/arena. People who wanted to pvp had only one option and that was world pvp. You could go on trip in a big mmo world with amazing design as a solo person or with friends or with a guild. Even when you was alone the chance was big more and more people will join the world pvp at that place. How come after blizzard introduce bg's and later arena's there is not a single mmo game who could let me get that same experience again? Why mmo's need bg's when you have a pvp realms and you spend years to make a great open world? This game force me to do warzones and world pvp is bad designed. I play a mmo and i pay for it, by playing warzones/bg's i get a feeling i play a shooter game and not a mmo. I will play this game till my gamedays are over. I got regret i bough this game, i had big hope this game will have better game designers. I learn something, i never going to buy a mmo again until im 100% sure world pvp exist as it should be. dougan
You were delusional for playing this game and expecting ground-breaking PvP. PvP has never been a selling point for TOR.
Nowhere
You were delusional for playing this game and expecting ground-breaking PvP. PvP has never been a selling point for TOR. Selling point or not it's quite possibly the worst PvP available as of this moment in time. Thus it lost my business and will lose a HUGE bulk of it's player base in 1-3 months MAX. If I want a single player RPG I will stick with Skyrim for now. Possibly even other Bioware SINGLE PLAYER RPG's. When it comes to an MMO that contains PvP....SWTOR is certainly not my choice at this moment in time. Edited January 1, 2012 by Nowhere
morbidillusion
Want to know how to spot the next MMO that will have good PvP? It will be 3-faction. Even the great WoW is plagued by faction imbalance and for some reason game developers don't understand that 3-faction PvP makes this essentially impossible. Two faction PvP is kind of like trying to have a "democracy of two". Anyway, if devs are actually intelligent enough to recognize 3-faction PvP is optimal, they will likely be intelligent enough to make a good game. Cyphen
TOR could have 3 factions, Rebels! Freelancers, Hutts.... etc... etc..
Sardoni
Only buy a "PVP" game if there's 3 factions or no factions because you can't balance 2 population wise. Edited January 1, 2012 by Sardoni

No it won't, you just pulled those figures from nowhere and you've got no idea how many people will leave. WoW was worse than this when it launched, look at everyone who played that. Jsut because you don't like it you think nobody else does, get real.
NeverSuffer
I really like the PvP in this game- I have played a lot of MMO's over the years and have always been a PvP oriented player in every last one of them; I'm not going to say that this is the BEST PvP- I personally miss the RF Online PvP... but I think that it has good potential IF... IF... they keep working on it and what we have now is just the base of what is to come. I feel that Bioware will add loads and loads of content into this game and that they will constantly be reworking things like... well... PvP! Time will tell but for now I remain hopeful . imnotme
and will lose a HUGE bulk of it's player base in 1-3 months MAX. Thank the Lord, I was wondering who the spokesperson was for everyone in the game. Now I know. end /sarcasm. If you signed up for TOR you have 2 months of play time right off the bat. A few will take off before then, but most new mmos--- and most fail, which really underlines things for this-- still dont lose their initial customers until after that initial period. So TOR probably wont see any real drop off for at least 2 months. The problem then is that people are glowing about this game. For everyone that isnt happy with it-- Ive seen way many more who are really enjoying it. That means that by the time people let their accounts expire, youre probably going to have seen TORs membership number climb much higher than the number you will have lost. Now TOR is in an unusual position. Most MMOs cant compete with wow, who sponge up their lost customers after the new guy dies. In this case, as TOR continues to eat new customers and further drain WOW, those who go back are going to find a game that is even worse than the one they left by that point. In any case, I dont see TOR going away just because of a few angry PVP players. PVP does not an MMO make. Besides, the biggest issues Ive seen people complain about are population imbalance issues. If you want the problem fixed just reroll rebel and stop QQing because you dont want to but you want everyone else to. The other big issue is imbalance of class--- something WOW has never really been that good at doing and theyve had way longer than TOR to try and figure out. Give BW some time to monitor and track the results of their BGs, and then to get some possible fixes worked out before getting your panties in a twist and you might see something happen. keebitual
Exactly. 3 Faction PvP games are self correcting. If one side gets way too popular, the weaker 2 sides tend to focus more on the bigger threat. And completely agree, the next PvP MMO would be wise to design around 3+ factions. Games with 2 factions will of necessity, have pvp in instances (Warzones, Arenas ETC) where they have ultimate control of team size. DAOC was a good model, where 3 factions of varying sizes were perpetually engaged in open world PvP (With Objectives). GW2 will have One faction, but will pit 3 servers against each other every two weeks. This could be a worthy game if done right.
Waron
2 factions always suck for PvP, no good pvp games use 2 factions. It's either 3+ or FFA. Because 2 faction always lead to imbalance and sucky world pvp.
Sookster
My best world pvp i ever had in a game was WoW pre bg/arena. People who wanted to pvp had only one option and that was world pvp. I only played WoW between 2004-2006 (right after TBC came out) I hated BGs in WoW because of twinks, I prefered the 40-49 and 50-60 brackets, but world pvp was a mess and had massive lag. I loved pvp in the early SWG days before the NGE, pvp even in the CU was pretty fun but pvp was so dynamic in SWG pre NGE and pre CU (aside from the overflowing Jedi). Pvp in City of Heroes used to be fairly decent but it was turned to trash. Normally I play FPS games if I want serious pvp (that includes PlanetSide), otherwise I'm more casual with pvp in MMO games these days. Kshahdoo
I hate people. EVE and Darkfall are too hardcore for them, SWTOR - too casual, WoW - too crappy... You gotta live in Africa and think not of games but of staying alive...
