xBuzz
If they don't let everyone at the same time it's because they don't want to have 100 players waiting to kill that one mob. Thats why they do the waves system. You do know that this isn't like WoW. SWTOR can shard all the planets meaning there can be 10 instances of the starting planets all on different nodes, and every other planet after that. Jeronas
Yes because it's BS that you knew it would be this way. No, because on the 20th the inevitable will happen anyway. So why delay the inevitable?
metalgearyoda
So we just cross our fingers at 12:01 on the 20th then? They are going to have all preorders on, most likely, by friday. By doing a gradual build up they are able to work out any issues as they emerge rather than seeing a massive collapse and shutting down the severs for a day, reopening, and then having them crash due to another bug. Think about it this way. They're benchmarks they have to pass before they are going to feel like their system is ready for lunch. The fastest way to get through those is THIS WAY. You want to be able to play the 20th? Stop complaining because this is the best way. It dramatically lowers the chance you will be stuck at "Sever not found." come the 20th. Mandrax
Just let all pre-orderers play now. If your servers cant handle it then what will you do when you get to launch? A large chunk of the player base will already be in and people wont be knocking on the door all at once.

Ragico
Wades through all the posts to ask...So instead of really testing the servers and seeing if they can handle the numbers, they just add players over time and break the servers more slowly? The servers are coming down on 19th to prepare for the 20th. So on the 20th everyone will be logging in the same time, so your point is invalid. There's less people ingame now than were ingame during the beta weekends. People are having trouble even finding groups. I was in for the major weekend stress test and I never received any problems with the server. They should have AT LEAST that amount of people on the servers by now. Apparently this fact has eluded both the games fanboys and the games developers.

If a sever crashes at 4k, 6k, and 11k players by doing these wave tests they can detect the 4k in day one and deal with it. Deal with the 6k day 2. And the 11k day 5. They are limiting the number of servers up on early access to push people up to high numbers on their servers resulting in a sort of early test for the 20th. They hit full on a few servers yesterday. This data gives them am idea of what a "full" server will do come the 20th and how best to fix its issues quickly.

Kirush
Haha, yeah sure. 30 minutes from now, if they did: "OMG LAGGGGGGGGGGG." "Bioware sucks, SERVER HAD 2 RESET STARTING PETITION/CIVIL LAW SUIT." "****.... 32 MINUTE QUEUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BiOWARE F grade TERRIBUL gam cumpany." It is expected dark side of the game. I doubt that they make too bad servers, that unable to fit all preorder players. Or how they think to launch the game at 20 when there is a chance that many people will enter. Another good option is to sit and make those waves without break or unknow shchedule. A tiny chance to play is better then no chance to play. Darinford
Can you honestly say that you will enjoy camping the same mob with 50 other players? Rolling on a pvp server, I'll enjoy camping that same player with 50 other players
Nadeya
Its not about server crashing. It´s about not flooding the starter areas, thats why they are not letting everyone in at day 1, thats the purpose of the preorder. Don´t know why ppls are not understanding this. If you played any other MMO at day 1, you know what Iam talkin about if there are like 1000s of ppls in one area T_T.
Cichard
If you dont like how they are handling head start you should of either A. Preordered in July or not preorderd at all. As my sig states its always was going to be staggered thats the FAQ on EGA since july.
hardmaple
I love how the people that are whining to get in early are the same people that will whine everytime they see BW breaking a "promise" (as they will see it). BW said this is how it will be and they are doing exactly what they said they would do. But then again, its always been about what you want, hasn't it? BW, keep doing what you are doing. The adults among us will continue to wait as we accepted to do when we placed our pre-orders.
metalgearyoda
Stress testing should have been done during beta. Okay. One, its a different build then thanksgiving so they need to double check. Two, 200k bots running around =/= stress testing. Which is what this build has been tested with so far. Sorry that they bothered to fix up the game before releasing it? I am not in yet. Clearly you are not in yet. How about we both appreciate the 4-6ish FREE days?
