how to assign hotkeys

How do i set up my abilities so i can choose a button on my keyboard and apply an ability for that button. basically hotkeys. and, also, I play a sith marauder so sometimes it's hard to target people. do you recommend clicking on the target or hitting tab?

Go to preferences, then look at the bottom of the window, should be a tab for keybinding.

 

Inside that menu you should be able to find Quickslots on the left side. You can then scroll down the list and bind individual quickslots to whatever keys you want.

 

When you hit Apply the new binding will appear in the quickslot boxes.

 

I always use Tab for targeting enemies, allows me to quickly cycle through enemy groups and find the one on the lowest health, and click the group box/companion box for targeting friendlies.
