Best game from launch hands down, comparison with others and SWG

Undeniably this is the best game from launch hands down. There are so many features that make this game way way better than any other right now on the market. My personal favorites is how real a lot of scenes look from the voice over and the killing blows when you fight. The tradeskills are awesome!

Every single other MMO didn’t do as well overall their first month out. I don’t know why so many of you are impatient. SWG had issues also when it launched, and just like now… back then there were many people voicing their concerns continually until Sony eventually listened… Then that famous patch came out that ruined the game.

Sure some tweaks need to happen, but I hope that Bioware is wise enough not to listen to the loud few and ruin this game. The same atmosphere is out there, as for me, I going am about to log in and kill some mobs in Coruscant with my two blasters!

It's good. It is not the best.

I have launched the following.

SWG - Buggy, laggy, server queues and crashes. Days of downtime.

EQ2 - One of the worse

WoW - Tied with EQ2

LoTRO - Very good. Best of all launches (but there were whiners)

Age of Conan - Buggy but playable at launch. Failed after lvl 20 + bad class balancing

STO - Bad launch, bugs and crashes all over.

SWTOR - Good launch. Not great but not horrible. Some glaring bugs and server queues kept it from being very good.

That is the one thing that everyone cannot deny, is that this is the best game from launch ever. The sky is the limit. It will only get better for us that stick around.

The ones who cannot be satisfied, they will go back to Wow, until some awesome patch happens here, then they might come back and post here again.

Good job Bioware, EA for launching a game of this magnitude the way you did.

People also forget that WoW ran out of games in the beginning. I thought that was hilarious. Bioware let us all download this game early. So far everything that has happened from the Devs has been positive. Goog job, great game!

I agree with you 100%, I was in all those games except Age of Conan and EQ2.

Daoc and Warhammer lauches had issues also.

Best launch ever for any other game mentioned.

LotoR was a good launch and so was DDO... guess launching is Turbines strong point

What were their numbers like at launch? Did they really have a playerbase at launch to make things seem shaky? Those are my only thoughts. If they had the same number as players as swtor had at launch would their launch have had issues?

I still play Lotro, I dropped Wow, even though I had maxed characters through the Lich King expansion.

I think we need a global wave jedi hand trick... for people to be patient and just play.

No matter what is said.. no other game looks like this one when duel wielding blasters or lightsabers.

Lol Here is another positive.

I am sincerely enjoying the game so far. Quest voice acting and cut scenes are breath of fresh air. My class story line is compelling so far(Jedi Knight). I really want to try the Sith though. Having said that, I have my own list of wishes and what the hells. None of them bothers me enough to cancel the subscription.

Call me fanboy or not, I am a casual gamer. This game suits my style. I am having fun.

Truthfully, I don't get why people are so impatient. It's barely 11 days after launch and people just, expect it all to be fixed instantly. Fact is, all their doomsaying, and nay saying is just them looking for excuses to dislike something.

Plus, they're just children. (And I hate using that term). They be, "21 years old lul" but maturity wise, they have the patience of a 12 year old. -Patience-. This isn't being a fanboi, this is being rational. There is a big, big difference.

Perhaps, given the high development cost and effective marketing, the game was over-hyped as the most ground breaking MMO in the history. Mass of people started playing, and some people are having difficult time understanding lack of some features that they were used to. I for myself would love to see some features implemented, but I won't go there.

I think you are correct. The difference between the people posting in anger with the threat of cancelling their subscription and myself are patience. I am also a realist. I know a task may as simple as it may seem, unless you are the one working on that task you won't know how much work needs to be done behind it.

Let's give a JAVA program for example. How many line of text does it need for a program to display "Hello World"

I am also an optimist. I am willing to give the developers benefit of the doubt they are monitoring the forums and actively working on the fixes for the most pressing bugs and implementing new features. But everyone's patience can go so far. Time will tell where this game will be in couple months. I am hoping for the best, and for the time being I am willing to support them with the active subscription.

Tradeskill system, tradeskill items are actually useful, voice over questing, speeders, killing blows when fighting, the lore in the game, the items from the specialty trader to name a few.

To answer that question, just look at the post from the Devs about future plans. They will add to the game plain and simple.

So only the Voice over is actually unique to this game. Am i correct?

Rift had a better launch.

These threads are equally as bad as the doomsday threads. You guys both look like fools at the end of the day.

I disagree strongly. While Rift only had minor server stability issues on launch, the client was absolutely horrible. I regularly saw under 20FPS using a computer that will run Crysis very happily (60 fps) at max settings. I had major graphics glitches. Adjusting the settings in game and out of game did very little to help my performance. Combat had even more responsiveness issues than this game does.

It wasn't a bad game, but it was launched at least 6 months too early. The client needed A LOT of work to be passable.

Rift had a better launch? Really? You obviously was not there. I was. A HUGE, never before seen breech in security created an environment where thousands of accounts were hacked within the first week. Trion had to send out a Press Release apologizing to us players for their oversight in their code that created the security breech. Then it took them about a month to come out with the security codes you could buy.

No no....Im sorry here, but Rifts launch was as lesson to developers everywhere - Don't be like Rift, make securing your accounts a priority.

Thank you, I'm glad to see another fairly rational head. I also know enough about coding (I do some, not a lot.) to know the work goes into it, I know for a fact it may take a bit of time, that's why I have patience. Perhaps if people were a bit more educated that it wasn't like the movie Hackers or something. I don't think a lot of people realize what truly goes into it.

And, from the patch notes. I'd say they are listening, and listening well. Let's only hope people get that hint eventually.
