indelible
Right now there are a sea of threads on this section of the forum professing some kind of "we know how to fix PvP" statement about the game. Invariably they offer nothing of any substance to the discussion. I've seen three threads that I can say made me go, "yeah... that's a good idea..." and the rest are just surplus to requirements. In this thread I shall list some of the things that are REASONABLE to provide feedback on in the hopes of giving Bioware something a bit more useful than "omg fix PvP or I'm unsubbing" threads. My feedback is as follows: Faction Balance: Faction balance is a problem. The brilliant launch project by Bioware failed to recognise the need to balance populations, and this is a poor oversight on the behalf of the Live Team. It is very, very important to ensure the stability of the game on both a per-faction basis and on a server wide bases. I think server transfers are in order. Bloodworthy, for example, should open up free transfers away from Sith side to solve the really badly managed faction balance. If the population problem is territory wide (as in... if moving a population from one server to another merely moves the imbalance from one server to another) Bioware could look to Aion for inspiration, and offer low population factions buffs (such as increased XP, Valor, Commendations etc) in order to stimulate new character creation on Republic side. Latency issues, and FPS lag in PvP: I've seen this mentioned lots, and I've mentioned it before, but it bears repeating. Currently PvP plays like a game of click-and-wait; the animation cooldown and the general laggy nature of the game - something that I suspect is a mechanic rather than a bug - makes PvP a persistently laborious task. I feel like I'm play about half a second ahead of the game, and that's not a good thing. The PvP is amazing, well balanced (out of the gate) and entertaining for the most part, but the clunky and horrid nature of the game in general makes it a laborious task at the best of times. PvP Score Boards: With closed server PvP you should be aiming to stimulate player recognition so that a "crowd" forms and so that players feel part of an actual community. The PvP score board currently does not lend itself to such a pursuit. There is a distinct lack of information that leads to limited recognition for players. The PvP score board needs to be updated to include: Advanced Class, Character Name, Level, Killing Blows, Kills, Damage Done, Healing Done, Protection Done, Objective Score, Medals. I don't mind so much that the board is unavailable during the match, but it should at least be up at the beginning and at the end of the match with the aforementioned information. Duelling Areas: I play on an open PvP server, which I enjoy, however there is no way for players of opposing factions to get together to have friendly duels. I think that one solution to this would be to add "duel arenas" to each world, where players on servers from both factions could meet up to duel each other. Whilst class balanced is focused towards the group rather than the individual players, I think that having some form of "friendly" duelling system will add yet more recognition to the PvP in the game, and move towards building more of a worthwhile community feeling. Class balance: Despite the prostrating of a large group of whiny and loud people on these boards, I think that class balance as it stands it very good. I do think that Sorcerers need to be brought down on the survivability end of things SLIGHTLY, but they certainly do not need a drastic nerf. I will be making a post about this in the Sorcerer class forums, but needless to say people who don't play Sorcerer and are demanding a nerf really do not understand how hard it is to play a Sorcerer in PvP Bounty Hunters either need to have their survivability or damage output brought down, and healers need to have their survivability brought down (which is not to say they should be easily killed; they shouldn't... however being totally indestructible is unreasonable). Survivability in general needs to be brought down at the higher levels. 1v1 fights do not need to last a month. 1-49, 50 brackets: At this point in the game's life, it is clear that we need to be thinking about dividing level 50 players and everyone else out into their own unique brackets. Whilst 50 players certainly don't represent too much of a stat gain on bolster they do totally destroy other players without so much as a "by your leave", and low level players have little chance 1v1. indelible
Clicked submit before I'd finished. Warzones: The Warzones are fun, and Huttball is growing on me (although I think that's just because it happens so often). The siege WZ is a nice map, but the turret one is a bit crappy if you ask me. Personally I'd like some more variety in the warzone element of the game. Their is no capture the flag match, which would be nice (in addition to Huttball), and having more inter-faction wz's (if they have to exist) would make me a happy man. Not done any open world PvP yet.
beaujames
I feel that the classes are balanced well. I have played a marauder to 20 and an assassin to 17. Even at lower levels, I can hold up decent to the 50s, but I cannot beat them in 90% of 1v1 brawls. The biggest pvp breaker is the animation times. I can be running 2 inches behind a guy and maul wont go off. It starts the animation and wont finish. The animations are really the only thing that needs to be addressed for next patch. Everything else is doing ok.

It's mindboggling. I think that most people expect to win 1v1 fights in general. They don't work form the basis that the game is a rock-paper-scissor affair. If someone on the PvP team actually took some time out to explain to everyone how it is all balanced, people would stop whining so much.

The QQers will QQ until changes are made, then QQ some more. It happened with WoW and every single other MMO. Let's hope BW has a backbone.
