scfs
/sadface.Would be nice if you would let the original legacy holder be allowed to decide if others could have their legacy name or not.

Engleheart
Maybe he has a brother who also would like to use the surname...not like family memeber play vidoe game together tho...so good question.
Eliniell
Not something I would have ever thought of myself but.. yea that would make sense for the original Legacy name holder to be able to allow other people to use it just like they were 'family' in game. I'm not an RPer personally, but I could see this as being something some of them would really like.
scfs
I don't get it. Why? It'd be awesome for familys / cutesy relationships who'd regret it later when they are no longer together and have their name reminding them of their partner. Jeweledleah
actually... as long as the decision rests with original legacy holder - it could work. that said, it also opens up room for abuse, someone might rush through first act, register a highly desired name and then try to extort people who wanted that name but didn't powerlevel... still worth considering... I mean, I know I wouldn't sell my legacy name (not that anyone would want it) mostly becasue I plan on using it as alt identifier with friends etc, the same way other people name their alts similar sounding names. but yeah, sharing the same name with a relative or a spouse is definitely something worth considering and trying to figure out implementation for. BrianDavion
I know that in LOTRO you could adopt someone, giveing them the "son of..." titile. maybe part of the legacy system will be an adoption system?
krisslanza
I think the reason you can't, is the same reason why there can't be two of the same name on a server. More MMOs need to find a way to fix that. It's annoying having a name taken that you like (and no, I don't mean those silly names with "sephiroth" or some other overly done name) because people "snipe" them or reserve them for later sometimes. Enevolist
I think the reason is that you can level up your legacy and they plan on adding rewards for higher lvl legacies later on.
Fox_McCloud
I think the reason is that you can level up your legacy and they plan on adding rewards for higher lvl legacies later on. That would not be a good reason for not allowing what the original poster is talking about. They could easily distinguish between the original legacy holders account and any legacy names gained through permissions from the original legacy holder. KooriSW
(This thread came up on a google search and is close to my original question) Is it not possible at this moment for my husband and I to share the same surname? We've shared the same oddball surname in any game that had such feature for the past 10 years. But my petition asking about it came back with a generic "we cannot change surnames at this time" I haven't taken one yet, keep closing the legacy window so there wouldn't be any change needed. Sorry if this is common knowledge having a hard time navigating these forums. ~ K
Matte_Black
I know that in LOTRO you could adopt someone, giveing them the "son of..." titile. maybe part of the legacy system will be an adoption system? When I first heard about the legacy system, I sort of wondered if adoption/marriage might be one it's features.
