Extremely low frame rate:

I am trying to figure out why this game runs beautifully on my PC at high graphics and is virtually unplayable on my laptop, even on low settings. I get a frame rate between 6-10 per second in most places on my laptop on low setting on the lowest resolution, yet get 30-40 on high on my PC. I am no hardware expert, but I think my laptop should be able to do better than it currently is.

Can someone tell me what I should be looking at to figure out why my FPS is so low?

Laptop hardware, 6 months old:

Processor: I7-2630QM @2.00 GHz

Ram: 6 GB

GPU: Radeon 6770M

In comparison, here is my PC, almost 4 years old (except the GPU):

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9300 (4x 2.5GHz/6MB L2 Cache/1333FSB)

Ram: 8 GB DDR2

GPU: Nvidea GTX 460

I don't remember to much about the fixes because I also have an nvidia, but during beta it was a known bug that some ATI cards was having problems. I remember something about turning off bloom and shadows, and using the gfx preferences to select high and apply, then low and apply, and then to manually select the high settings instead of using the overall thing to imcrease fps a bit.

My friend tried it and jumped from 9 fps to 29 fps, but his card should be doing much better, unfortunatly the thread with all the fixes was deleted when the forums was refreshed but theres probably another thread of fixes by now.

Laptop video cards, even the 3D capable ones, are junk compared to their desktop counterparts. They also tend to share at least some of the RAM in the system to be used for video, and system RAM is generally much slower than Video card ram. However, that doesnt always mean things cant be adjusted to make it work.

My laptop, for instance, has a BIOS setting that reduces the clock rates of the video card to make battery life better and this is enabled by default and is in effect even when hooked to AC power.

Actually there might be a problem here. The 6770m is actually a pretty decent card. Granted it isn't as good as a 460 but it should be able to pull off a good 40-60fps in the game as long as shadows are turned off. Are the drivers up to date. I would double check to make sure it has dedicated ram, although I am pretty sure it does. Other than those things I am not really sure what to tell you. This does seem a bit odd.
