whilom
when are they going to start enforcing this...they said they would but nothing is done about names like kitty pew pew, buttnaked, this dude is pure, grapeape, beaverblaster, qwertyjuan, etc etc you have a naming policy swtor start enforcing it I mean we should be free to name things as we wish but stupidity needs to be tempered by the mods
chalkwhite
I don't know about the server you play on but all of the ones I have read the description for state that "no special rules enforcement for naming or chat on this server". That includes RP servers. I think the naming policy in the RoC is redundant.
whilom
naming policy is not special it is in the faq so since it is the rule for all servers it would not be special it states that it must not be a named chracter or one that is not a name this is the norm they are just not enforcing it

Phoenixblight
Are you reporting them if not then that's the issue right there. GMs are not going to look through the names of every single character to make sure they are following the naming policy. There is not enough time in the day for them to do that and handle each persons individual tickets. Get real.
whilom
People have laughed about getting tickets from gms that their names are not appropriate but they are not forced to change em so they are telling people but not fixing it causing names to get worse and worse to the guy that said there was no naming policy The Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Customer Service team prides itself on maintaining a friendly game-play environment. Therefore it is required to provide guidelines for you to follow when chatting with other players in game or when naming your character, Legacy, guild, or any feature that allows a player to choose a unique name that will be visible to other players. Violations that are inappropriate and can result in a name change and/or game suspension include: •Profanity•Sexual or obscene/vulgar references •Xenophobia or hate speech•Violence•Harassment•Impersonating EA or Bioware employees•Gibberish/unintelligible character names•References to significant religious, political, or historical figures or events•References to drugs or other illegal activity•References that violate trademarks, copyrights and other proprietary rights•Generally inappropriate As far as the naming of characters, pets, guilds, items, etc. it is important to remember that BioWare reserves the right to change any name deemed inappropriate at any time, as well as take action on an account based upon any communication that is considered to fall into one of the categories above. Multiple violations of the Terms of Service may result in temporary or even permanent suspension. This policy applies to all languages regardless of what language server the player is playing on. Lazzerswords
Looks like the snitches are having hot tears running down their faces due to this. Pro tip snitches, EA will not put the ban hammer down too soon- they want those subs. I like those names ,they are easier to remember than your dorky Star Wars, EQ, UO names like "uth'ylu ' theae' bwoalo or " dwou'ru' ru ' bwoq" also: PLAY YOUR OWN GAME AND WE WILLPLAY OURS. Mookz
Someone in our guild just had a forced name change, so they are enforcing it. Play on a PvP (non-RP) server. Edited January 1, 2012 by Mookz

Phoenixblight
People have laughed about getting tickets from gms that their names are not appropriate but they are not forced to change em so they are telling people but not fixing it causing names to get worse and worse They do infact force it. I saw a player named Babykiller or something to that effect and I reported them and so I added the name to my friendlist to see it had been changed and low and behold a day later the name was removed from my friendlist because he had to change it. Maybe in your example a GM had thought he had forced the name when in reality he/she did not. Edited January 1, 2012 by Phoenixblight

Xerda
I presume names have to be reported in order for action to be taken against them. I didnt' think Kitty Pew Pew was against the policy but I believe buttnaked could be. I would also think they are pretty busy with the hundreds of other reports they get on a daily basis so it will take time.

photoheathen
stupidity needs to be tempered by the mods You can't moderate stupidity. Those people will always be stupid, no matter how you try to "teach" them. How much their stupidity affects your life is 100% on you. There's a reason why I routinely have 10+ idiots on my ignore list before I even leave the starter world. CrimsonTFP
My biggest disappointment in the game so far is the sheer number of "funny" (that aren't even remotely funny) names people are using. I'm no RPer, but I do take my characters seriously and seeing so many idiotic names is a real immersion breaker. I don't care enough to actually report them, but it does make me automatically assume the person behind the character is either 11 years old or a complete moron.
