A BW Fanboys issues with SWTOR

So.....I finally got my BHer to 35 through space barring and all that. I then realized "Holy hell, why is it taking so damn long to level, and why are these quests repetitive?" I then got insta bored. I do have ADD, which might be part of it, but seriously. I got so bored, that I decided to play WoW.

But then I was like "Hey. Maybe if I don't spacebar through every conversation, it will be better." Sadly, that wasn't the case. On Taris, I was doing the main storyline, not the class one mind you, the main Taris quest line. It was so boring and so repetitive, that I just logged out, and began to troll forums.

What a nice change isnt it ?

Anyway i found the game extremly boring after like 33-37, im now level 37 but im barely doing one level a day. I mean it is fun, but its still the same "go there click on 4 objects, go there use this 4x item." It gets really really boring after my 3days played. I dont know if i will be able to do 50 before actualy death from boredom, i wont go back to WoW never ever, but this is just bad.

..bonus objective: Kill more bad guys!

..super extra bonus objective: Kill even more bad guys!

..ultra light classic bonus objective: Kill all the bad guys!

Where is the sneaking around on ledges?

Where is the rapelling?

Where is parachuting down to objective?

Where is the intelligent gameplay?

Where is the riddles we had in KotOR?

How did you get to be a BW fanboy if your first approach to their game is spacebarring through the dialogues? Genuinely curious.

Where is the interesting storyline like we had in KOTOR?

I mean really, the BHer class quest goes "Great Hunt, win fame!" Once you finish it, you go onto the stupid Blacklist, which is just another version of the Great Hunt.

Mass Effect 2 is one of my favorite games of all time (10/10 imo), but I still skipped a lot of the Dialogue, even on my first time through

Liking a game/Developer does not imply that you never skip the talking parts. Sometimes they just aren't interesting

Your class story is the main story line of the game, and yet you've spacebar'd the whole thing...and now you're bored, so bored in fact that wow questing is better? I'm going to guess that you're still in love with wow (which many of us were once) and that this game is just not for you.

I'm also guessing that this game was not designed for people who don't like stories.

Well you jedi,

Some games are'nt meant for everyone, what you find boring is fun for others, as the old saying goes "one mans rubbish, is another mans gold" :D I'm level 12 which is low yes, but I've had to deal with crashes and the like all week. But I still find the game quite good. Infact the story lines are quite a nice change and get you involved, so that's good for me. It's also still a young game with plenty of promise, so it's not like it's been out years and going stale.

Patients young Padawens, lean from your masters.:D

Nah, Im not still in love with WoW. I love storylines, I just hate how repetitive it is on Taris.

Yeah, i was seriously disappointed with how much things were repeating in this game. caves, missions, plot points, and even the dialog. I don't know how many times i've heard my Marauder say the same 3 phrases over and over and over again. Didn't they spend a few HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS on voice acting? isn't that a bit much to be reusing the same dialog THAT much?

They are back in WoW :p

Kidding aside, it does feel like TOR was designed in two stages one predating Wrath of the Lich King and one postdating it.

Pre Wrath questing in WoW was, kill kill kill and oh go and kill those too and while you're at it, pick up this thing they have stolen.

Post Wrath questing spiced things up a little it would be kill, fetch, destroy not necessarily in that order and while you were still doing the same things it felt refreshing because it wasn't always in the same order.

Now in TOR, pre Aldaraan the bonus quests are Kill 10-->kill 45 (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!, someone needs their head examined for thinking that was fun)-->kill boss-->hand in item from boss.

On Aldaraan it begins to mix it up, the first multistage bonus I ran into was kill 10 --> gather some stuff --> hack some turrets --> get explosives --> use explosives on ship --> kill boss who's not happy about the ship blowing up --> hand in item from boss.

That was actually the first fun quest I'd done in TOR and in appearing in the game so late, I can't help think that it's because the developers found new in inspiration from Wrath as opposed to what they had from The Burning Crusade and classic WoW.

The problem is that it's too little and too late to introduce bonus quests you actually want to do this late in the game because you're allready lost most people at this point.

I've been level 50 Merc for some days, and I loved the BH story! Listened to every word of every piece of dialogue.

There was a lull in the later levels, not in story, but I believe because a few of the maps were a tad monotonous (Hoth mostly all empty snow-planes, Belfavis, too much traveling due to missed quest, etc). as well as not getting any new attack powers during the time, so combat got a little tedious.

Still, I loved the BH story so much, I was just thinking today how I wish there was more story to play!

I enjoyed it until about the Quesh class quest where you get ambushed. After that I was like Meh.

A WoW player won't want to do riddles. I'm sorry, but MMOs aren't for intelligent gameplay. If it was, there would be no amazing map or objective markers. But then also, places would be far easier to navigate e.i. more hallways, less open areas.

Yeah I was hoping for puzzles and riddles, but frankly, MMO'ers don't like them. They speed out to the next objective.

ALSO:

But then I was like "Hey. Maybe if I don't spacebar through every conversation, it will be better." Sadly, that wasn't the case.

ur doing it rong

Im enjoying the hell out of this game. I dont understand everyones complaints though. Everyone seems to bash this game for things it does better than WoW or other MMOs. Especially questing. Quests might get repetitive, but not nearly as bad as other MMOs. At least I care about completing my objectives rather than just trying to rush to end game.

It's the repetitive nature that's the problem. It's the same things you do only to differently skinned mobs and is usually involves killing loads of mobs just standing around waiting to be killed.

90% of all humanoid mobs you fight shares the same bodytype, the only difference is what they are called and the armour they are wearing. Why doesn't the game generate mobs from the character creator when it spawns new ones?

I care nothing for completing the quests in TOR, because to me they are boring, grindy and repetitive both in form and execution. The motivation you get for doing it is usually "bad guys there, go kill." The environments are dull and near the end of a planet I always have thoughts of desperation when new quests keeps popping up because I want this over with.
