Shadanwolf Posted December 31, 2011 Share Posted December 31, 2011 DARK AGE OF CAMELOT is the best design ever for realm vs realm conflict(persistent/24/7).If there's any question about how to develop the realm vs realm conflict portion of the game(and there seems to be A LOT ) just copy DAOC's system. It's the gold standard. Bar none the best ever devised. Once you've mastered...and I mean mastered your understanding of their genius...then you can improve it .This needs to be done YESTERDAY. That's how they made it work , with only 2 realms 1 will outnumber the other one and just continue to win everything, the 3rd realm balances it all out . BUT 2 realms following DAOC's design is a heck of a lot better that anything I've seen or heard about in SWTOR.This has been a weakness all through beta and still remains ignored. So probably they make current PvP based on their own prior expiriences and understanding of how pvp should work? You want to teach creators of DAOC how PvP should be "DAOC like" ? If you consider develepmont costs, a working PvP system costs pretty much NOTHING, and keeps people playing for years.But this crap won't hold people for more than 6 months. Very disappointed how little they did fix from end stages of beta till now. I haven't even read anything about the Valor cap yet, I bet in a month people will have hit the cap. And it's like in Warhammer where you can't gain anymore points. Rather than doing it the DAoC way, where there is no cap and it is just for motivational purposes. You realize that you don't know ****? So tell me how many developers of DAoC worked on this game? And even if a couple of the ORIGINAL ones worked for Bioware doesn't mean they could do what they wanted. The only person/persons who had ANY clue in DAoC were the ones who created the RvR system. The fat guy in the chair thought it was a good idea too add crappy PvE to daoc, which was required to compete in PvP and after this the game died. Aerodi Posted December 31, 2011 Share Posted December 31, 2011 I really wanted some kind of RvR as well, but as others pointed out, the population imbalance will probably mean any pvp, even territory control, will have to be instanced. Global Agenda style ava conquest could work. Anyone else notice how overwhelmingly the population went to the PvP servers during early access and launch? That should say something. Most "new" mmo players think of PvP as "girefing" kind of open world pvp beeing played out in the PvE areas aka constant pvp flagged. They havent experianced good pvp games liek daoc and only have wow to go on good PvP wont work in SWtoR since you need 3 sides for that, any pvp without 3 sides just becomes a farming for one side which quickly becomes dull. heck even in warhammer, with only 2 sides, it was not about fighting your enemy, it was about avoiding them Edited December 31, 2011 by SeloDaoC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
