Gear resets also invalidate content, making it so that countless numbers of players will never get the joy of experiencing flash points because there is simply no reason for them to do such. By always ensuring Flashpoint gear has a higher value then expansion gear, ie the EQ model vs the post BC WoW model, you can ensure players get to enjoy all the content the game has to offer, even if the content is several years old.
